Seems this news article was just the beginning of a slew of bad news for Nintendo that is still ensuing, funny though - retailers and websites have still be advertising a Wii U bioshock in future. Confusing.

Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine says new shooter not planned for Nintendo's HD system; "nothing is brewing" at all for console.
BioShock Infinite will see release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, but not Wii U. Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine told Destructoid that the studio has no plans to bring its recently delayed shooter to Nintendo's first high-definition platform.
As for whether or not Irrational has any Wii U projects at all in development, Levine said "nothing is brewing right now." The developer said he purchased a Wii U and he enjoys it, but that is the extent of Irrational's connection to the Wii U.
BioShock is not the only established series that has elected to skip the Wii U. Borderlands 2, Dead Space 3, Resident Evil 6, Lego: Lord of the Rings, and Metro: Last Light will not appear on the console. Additionally, it is not clear if Crysis 3 or Battlefield 3 will ship for the system.

4 Like Is this Nintendo's or Capcom's doing though? Pisses me off a lot to be honest. I plan on getting a Wii U, but was counting on having games like Resident Evil 6 released for the console. Its more powerful than the PS3 supposedly, so why not love? A shame as Resident Evil 4 for Wii and Gamecube was epic.
not surprising - the lead out time to create new controls to leverage the machine correctly would mean he would have had to have a team dedicated to the WII U over a year ago.
I don''t doubt a port could be made- but then people would complain because the WII U's tablet is not really being utilized and the other controls are not optimised
as for it being better- well sort of- but expect a lot of titles that initially hit it to still only be DX9 titles- you will just get a bit better visual out of them
I don't think the controls have to be unique. I want to play bl2 on the wiiU, and believe it would be second in sales to mario or perhaps number one. 2k lost a revenue potential in my opinion. I haven't bought the game for another system and probably won't till the goty edition is released. But I would buy it for wii U and perhaps the dlc as well.
That's because Levine doesn't hire virgins or make games for virgins. He's basically virginphobic.
4 Like Wow, listen to all these people saying its a gimped system when its really not. Its more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360. Stop acting like the PS4 and Xbox 720 will be so powerful when they won't even be close to PCs. The most important part of playing video games is having fun and I am having a blast with mine so I can't ask for much more. Well, maybe games like Starfox to make a return. I really want another Starfox game like Starfox 64 with split screen and online multiplayer, that sounds amazing!

@jon_bone Wii U copied remote play, touch screen, dual analogs, motion control, camera, exc. with the gamepad it has directly from the VITA. Deny it bro but you know its true.

your examples happen to be the only ones worth mentioning... Wii was a failure as a game system. it sold a lot of consoles, but had almost no games worth playing. when your #1 game for the system is the game that COMES WITH THE SYSTEM, there is clearly something wrong.

I gave you a huge list of awesome games that came out for the Wii (which you chose to ignore), just because you never bothered to look up what great games came out for it doesn't mean the Wii had "almost no games worth playing."

4 Like I think that is a sensible move on their part. A Wii U game really should be built for it from the ground up, not ported at the last minute. Plus, the majority of core gamers already own an HD console so they can buy it for that instead.
I don't want to see Wii U become another PS3/360. I want to see it stand proud with its own unique features and games.

WiiU has something called miiverse, an absolutely incredible social proponent if I do say so myself (its kinda like us talking right here!) built right into their network that honestly is like a meta game within itself. I own four games as well so yea it's kinda hard to see a reason to play any other system until maybe bioshock infinite or ni no kuni, and even by then we don't know Nintendo could bust out several new games (trust me bro I want a Zelda, Metroid, etc they will come)
Also I want smash too but a party style fighting game for me is not enough to buy a system so we obviously have different tastes.. Lol
6 Like Nobody cares. Those who bought the WiiU should have realized the system is 5 years late to the current gen. All the devs are busy creating stuff for actual next-gen dev kits of PS4 and Xbox 3.
4 Like params7. really? when i turn on my PS3 my new tv tells me the input signal is 1080p but dissapointingly when i load up a game im told the signal has dropped to 720p :( i get no such thing with Wii U, 1080p all the time so far. not only that but i have a game suspended in the background right now while i browse the internet with ease on the built in tabbed web brouser. my Wii U is definately more powerful than my PS3 im guessing i got a dud or budget model cos everyone is saying its the otherway round.
3 Like That sucks. It would have been a boon for Wii U. I find it interesting all the Nintendo haters call Wii/Wii U a gimick. What do you call a console released with such inferior hardware that it over heats to the point of failure? Nintendo deffinitly goes their own way and I think that's a good thing. I'm waiting to see what Sony and Microsoft bring to the next gen before I get any of them. If I go next gen at all, it will be one console.

6 Like I can't think of a single good reason for 2K to release BI on Wii U to be honest. There's not going to be any money in it, and the console has such a gimped, bottlenecked architecture that it'd probably be more trouble than it's worth to convert a game as complex as Infinite for it.
Plus, it likely doesn't help matters that there's so little interest in the Wii U from consumers. Where I live the Wii U has just seen the single worst selling console launch in my country's history, and no, there is nothing even close to a stock shortage anywhere.
There is a very real chance the Wii U is going to be a massive flop, and it's hard to say it isn't deserved.
@maximumbarmage In my country the Wii U pricing is around $400 to $450, also people yet quite don't understand the product due to poor advertising and lack of training/knowledge of retailers.
As for porting, Irrational is not so pleased to work on the Wii U controller to make Bioshock different to the other consoles, that's too much work for them and they're coming closer to the release date to start playing with the Wii U gimmicks to port the game into it. Even if they only allow the pro controller to use, is not efficient for them, still some changes have to be made for the game to be ported, they have the experience porting to PS3, but not for this system so is not profitable making this move.

Also to the people who can't read numbers higher than 10. The Wii U has currently sold nearly 1 million consoles in 3 weeks worldwide, so pull your finger out of your prized consoles USB port and get a clue at how well it is doing instead of being mindless fanboys.

For Comparison, Xbox-360 sold 750,000 new units on Black Friday (a 7 year old, going out next year, console outsold the new one).

2 Like If they put Battlefield 3 on the WiiU, no one would be able to play it. It requires several gigs of storage to play competently; and that doesn't include the expansions. I think I have somewhere close to 21 gigs on my Xbox360 right now for that game.
The WiiU (assuming you have the so called "deluxe" set) has 32 gigs, but the OS uses a fair chunk of that. That being said, you would have to dominate your hard drive to play just the one game. If they already downloaded one or two games from the marketplace, there wouldn't be enough space.
Yes, you COULD buy a 3rd party hard drive to play it. But that is way too much work for the average gamer. Most people who care that much already own a core console.
I honestly don't believe Nintendo thought their system through enough. its just not made for hardcore gamers. The sad part is it's not really made for casuals either.

3 Like @Nitrous_18 I don't hate Nintendo, just their asinine decisions to use crap hardware and to alienate 3rd party developers. If they want to attract grandmas to gaming, that's fine, but I'm not buying their gimmicky crap just so that they can make more money off people who don't game.
I grew up on the SNES and N64; they were AMAZING. But to me, Nintendo has abandoned the things they did so well back then. I know some people see the N64 as a huge step down from the SNES, but in my view it was comparable; I definitely enjoyed the N64 more than anything else available at the time. But from a core gaming perspective, Nintendo has flat out been stomped by the competition ever since the N64, and they've not done much to change that.

I've played all their consoles since NES, and to be honest, I enjoyed every console, I have a PS3 due to the fact the Wii didn't fulfilled my expectations (bloatware everywhere!!), but I still play their 1st party games and can't deny I purchased it for Smash Bros., the thing is that every generation of Nintendo's console is different in its own way, maybe they went too far with this tablet-controller like device, but the Wii had these remote-like controllers and people were kinda questioning Nintendo about this "gimmick" at the beginning.
About Irrational not porting to Wii U... well, shit happens, If you want Bioshock Infinite, purchase it on other console.
Nintendo wants too keep pandering to 5 year olds. Screw 'em! They'll declare bankruptcy before they start listening to their consumers.

2 Like Not exactly surprising that developers are choosing to skip the Wii U, 3rd party games just didn't sell on the Wii.
The Wii U's success or failure depends on them capturing the casual/family market again and the continuing support of the Nintendo diehards that love their familiar first party franchises. Anyone that is really interested in playing the big third party multi platforms games already has a PS3/360 or a capable PC, they aren't going to buy a Wii U just to play COD or Bioshock with a novelty controller.
