Big in Japan October 10-16: Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Flight action reboot and Japanese edition of Just Dance trump Pro Evo Soccer in the latest sales update.
Despite Ace Combat: Assault Horizon's mixed reviews since its release on October 11, the new entry in the long-running series was still well received by gamers in Japan, as evident in Media Creates' latest sales update. The PS3 version of Namco Bandai's flight action title made its debut at the top spot with 149,470 units sold. The Xbox 360 version of the game was in sixth place, with 20,523 units sold. For more information, check out GameSpot's review.
The Japanese version of Just Dance for the Wii also made it high on the list, just below AC:AH, with 90,039 units sold. This iteration plays just like Just Dance 2 on the Wii, only with the addition of Japanese tracks. Examples of such additions include Kumi Koda's "Cutie Honey," Kishidan's "One Night Carnival," and Morning Musume's "Love Revolution."
Previous top-spot holder Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 (PS3 version) went down to third place, with 61,787 units sold for the week. The former second-place title, the PSP dating simulator AKB1/48: Idol to Guam de Koishitara, went down to fourth place, with 34,114 units sold.
Other noteworthy highlights of the sales chart include Xbox 360 exclusive title Forza Motorsport 4, debuting at fifth place, with 24,854 units sold. Long-standing top-10 resident Wii Sports Resort (Wii Remote Plus Pack version) was bumped down a notch for the week. The minigame compilation was at 11th place, with 12,897 units sold.
The week's hardware sales chart was almost identical to the last update; Nintendo sold 55,025 units of the 3DS, despite the lack of 3DS and DS titles in the top 20. Sony sold 28,596 units of the PS3 and 25,271 units of the PSP for the week. The Wii resided in fourth place, with 12,161 units sold.
