Big in Japan March 19-25: Kid Icarus: Uprising

Why is this up again?  I guess it's cool to remember that Ikarus Uprising sold well.... as if anyone forgot or cares by now......

I'm glad I got the 3DS over Vita. I love PS to death but man it's too expensive to only own an Uncharted game :-/

Anyone else think it was planed that Kid Icarus would make a massive come back. In SSBB Pit was a two game wonder but the story mode teamed Pit with Kirby Link Mario and Yoshi four of the most successful nintendo characters. Then the same develop studio including director announce the return of Kid Icarus.

@Lhomity Seems about right. No matter how much talent Microsoft rounded up for their console, Japan just wasn't, or isn't on board. They pushed real hard for RPGs and even got some exclusives, but still unable to break into the market. Maybe they should disguise their product. Maybe they could buy out Sanyo and name their next system the Sanyo 720. It might work. lol

While I don't really get into handheld gaming, this game looks awesome! I seen the commercial the other day and thought it was a Wii title, which I would've purchased if it was. Maybe they'll port it over. Looks like they did the series justice.

We all know the Vita is doing poorly in Japan and each week's updates reinforce that. Haven't heard much news on how its doing in the U.S. Hopefully U.S. sales are better then 10k a week!

@Lhomity Same for NA.Americans will support MS.Japanese will support Sony. As for the VITA I think Sony will very likely be paying developers to make games for the system to sell.

Kid Icarus is the game of the year so far for me

Glad to see Kid Icarus at #1. I hope KH is up there next week.

Not one vita game is up there, not even gravity daze is up there.

Can't wait to pick up Kid Icarus uprising within the next week or two. And damn, 3DS is moving strong. Where are all those analysts claiming it was dead now, huh? Bet they're feeling pretty stupid. Vita sales don't look that great...shame because it's a pretty good system. Sony needs to step up their game before developers start to walk out the door. It needs a few more "killer" games to get itself moving strong. Can't wait for Gravity Rush in June, though!

if vita dont sell better nobody want to make games for them = failure - sony needs to really think about this i can see several games i want in that list - or at least be interested in - one 3ds, 2 psp and one ps3

Good going,3DS. All other consoles combined equal 69,450 units sold for the week,24,561 less than the 3DS. Not looking like a flop in any way at all to me.Show those haters how it's done. And the strange differences in Japan's market from ours will never cease to amaze me. PS2 out sold 360? And the PSP outselling the Vita may be the fault of Sony's marketing or the market itself,but it's surprising either way.

@Intellips PSP was a moderate success, however without Monster Hunter it would've been mediocre. Monster Hunter opened the doors for more software support for it. Vita has no Monster Hunter. PS3 only survived because Sony were willing to lose billions on it, so from a financial point of view it's been a massive failure for Sony. Even then the PS3's only sold 8 million consoles in Japan and is in third place worldwide. Compared to the PS1 and PS2, PS3 has been a disaster.

@Savoritias Japanese consumers in general tend to prefer local brand names, which is why Microsoft have fallen consistently face-flat in Japan, despite throwing millions into several aggressive marketing campaigns, and paying devs for exclusive titles. Interesting little fact: EA's games are published by Sega in Japan. Its also worth noting that Square-Enix published CoD: MW3 in Japan. Its a cultural thing.

3D$ is all the rage now but P$3 is right behind,which means $ony and Big N are always topping Micro$oft. D$i doesn't count,it's getting obsolete.

Nice comeback for Kid Icarus... there is hope for all those long forgotten franchises!

The psp started the slow, as did the PS3, yet nobody would call them a failure

A little fact: if Vita and 3DS continued to sell 10,302 and 94,011 units weekly respectively in Japan then the 3DS would surpass the Wii's Japanese LTD sales (over 12 million) quicker than the Vita would surpass the XBox 360's LTD Japanese sales (1.5 million) total..

3DS sales>combined hardware sales Nintendo games sales=half of the list Still going strong,and with Fire Emblem and KH coming soon it will only get even better. :) Still looking bad for VITA,though managing to stay at 5 digit.Seems more and more likely that the rumor that sony is buying its own VITA consoles to stay at 10000 is true too since there isn't much games coming out the next few months.

ps2 passed in sales XBox 360. How the japanese do that?

The fact that the 3ds out sold the vita 9 to 1 is insane, it's the same price the 3ds was at release (minus memory cards). I never expected the vita to do better but this is insane.
