Big in Japan Jan. 24-30: The Last Story, Valkyria Chronicles 3

@shadowysea07 'phew! GS, how about "latest" instead of "last?" In this industry, it's very odd to finish a project without envisioning the next one, so, at any given moment, most studios are techinically working on more projects than one, rather the resources allocations are 99-to-1-%. So saying "last" does carry a terminal implication.

I love my psp ^^

Playstation is dominating this week...minus PSP Go. It sells less as each week passes by.

I really hope the Last Story gets published over here, seems like a great title for Wii owners. Also glad to see Sega getting more good games out the door, only to get the good sales they deserve. Hope they can manage good sales with Yakuza 4 over here.

@mario-nin-freak because alot of good rpgs have been released on it as of late as well. not to mention that since the psp2 was announced obviously the psp will be on sale in some places.

@drangel_jam don't worry the last story is not his last game. this whole last game nonsense was started by a mistranslation on his twitter or something i believe. he's still gonna be making games probably until the day he dies :P

Nice to see the PS3 and PSP at the top regularly. PS2 seems to be going down but still consistent but i cant help but chortle at the PSP Go sales!

Lost Odyssey has a great story, I wish he'd make a sequel. But I don't need it to be chronological, or relate to the same characters, or world. Sure, some characters are cliche and even cheesy, but the ending is one of the best endings I've ever experienced in a video game.

Why is The Last Story Sakaguchi San's last game? Isn't his studio profitable? Doesn't he have more stories to tell? Has he run out of feature juice? Does he insist that games have to play like old turn based traditional RPGs? I aint saying it's a bad thing, but maybe, just maybe, people to try something new or different.

Don't forget that the PSP is essentially the only place to get visual novels outside of PCs too, and visual novels are big time in Japan (as can be seen by those Ore no imouto sales). That will also drive PSP sales, especially among the otaku type

The PSP is the most popular system here in Japan by far, simply because most households still only have one television. That's why the NGP will do well over here as well.

PSP has sold 16.7 million in Japan, and all 3 consoles have sold about 19 million combined. Hence, why I said "PSP has nearly sold as much in Japan as PS3, wii and 360 combined".

I really hope they may consider localizing The Last Story. I remember seeing it in an issue of Game Informer thinking how it would totally be an awesome RPG to play.

All of these people surprised about PSP selling in Japan? Its like people here don't know that PSP has nearly sold as much in Japan as PS3, wii and 360 combined. PSP is a massive hit in Japan, and thats where a good chunk of its 60 million sales (more than systems like NES, SNES, 360, n64 etc) come from. Its always been this strong in Japan, because the type of games PSP has are more focused at the Japanese market

I want TLS and VC3 sooooo bad. Port them now plx.

Especially if it ends up being Sakaguchi's last project, it'd be a shame if we never get to play it. He's definitely one of the greats.

I hope they localize the Last Story, Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, Captain Rainbow, Soma Bringer, A.S.H., and Reginleiv.

You must understand that The Last Story can never legally go on any other platform except Nintendo's. It's a Nintendo IP, yes like Mario and Zelda and Pokémon. They're not going to let Sakaguchi go again.

I'm really looking forward to The Last Story to be released in other regions. Also, a lot of people have the Wii in Japan so it may not sell as much but trust me it will keep on selling adn the DS isn't doing so well because the 3DS will soon be out in Japan.

The only one who brought a Wii in Japan is because their other Wii is broken.

@icekids I think almost anybody owns a Wii in Japan so it won't sell as much, besides, January is a tipical slow month for Nintendo game releases. The DS is falling in sales because of the anticipation of the 3DS which launches in February 27 in Japan, so most people would rather wait and buy the 3DS. I'm not saying "X" console is better than "Y" console but you should interpret these numbers combined with a little bit of context.

Not always but for me...if its "big in Japan" it not big for me (I am talking games here).
