Xbox 360 makes rare appearance on weekly chart otherwise dominated by Tomodachi Collection, Pokemon, and Tales of Vesperia; Sony's slim console prevailed last month.
The last time an Xbox 360 game cracked Media-Create's top 10 chart was the week of July 27-August 3, when Gears of War 2 landed at number six. This week, another Microsoft Games Studios 360 exclusive, Halo 3: ODST, infiltrated ninth place on the chart by selling 29,734 units during the week of September 21-27.
The 360 shooter was the sole newcomer in the top 10, which otherwise saw a reshuffle of last week's biggest sellers. Once again, Nintendo had the most games in the top 10: Tomodachi Collection (DS, 1st), Pokemon HeartGold (DS, 2nd), Pokemon SoulSilver (DS, 3rd), and Wii Sports Resort (Wii, 6th).
In fourth place was the PlayStation 3 version of Namco Bandai's formerly 360-exclusive Tales of Vesperia, followed by Konami's PSP baseballer Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu Portable 4. Square Enix took seventh with SaGa 2: Hihou Densetsu Goddess of Destiny (DS) and eighth with Dragon Quest IX (DS). Last and, numerically speaking, least, was Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 4 for the PSP.
On the hardware front, the DSi continued its palm-sized reign with 63,342 units but was followed by a resurgent PS3 with nearly 40,000--far ahead of the Wii's 11,731 units. Indeed, according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, the introduction of the cheaper PS3 Slim made Sony the September console victor. According to a Bloomberg report quoting Enterbrain, 309,939 PS3s were sold from August 31 to September 27, more than the DS Lite and DSi's combined 297,060 units. It marks the first month since the PS3's introduction in 2006 that it was the top-selling platform in Japan.

Wow people we know 360 doesnt perform to well in Japan. But i think you see more 360 games on the top 10 in Japan than a PS3. And if im wrong still 360 has been up on sales more often than not. The real suprise is how poor the legenday Japanese own Sony PS(3) is doing. Ya its doing good this month. but if u check pass sales. DS and Wii, and 360 and even PS2 outsold the PS3 in units and games. Hey im glad PS3 is picking up in sales. Maybe now Japan will hop on the next gen train this year and i can get Monster Hunter on a good console, with free interenet play.... dont be jerks Sony fanboys. Ps3 has been at the bottom of the list for a LONG time.

project natal will be bigger over in japan. maybe bigger then it will be here in the states.
i understand what you're saying, it's just that this game didn't need to be released, especially at a 60$ price. there are realistically 3 things changed/added to odst... new maps ( same gameplay ) a new campaign ( virtually similar to all the other iterations, pretty short ... ) and a different control system. all these differences could have easily be a 20$ dlc and not a full game, personally when i buy a 60$ game i expect a wide difference. Halo odst different deliver enough for me, that's all i'm getting at.
ThisNameIsDumb: How many FPS's really change their gameplay from iteration to iteration? Think about it...all FPS games consist of is just running around and shooting stuff, in first-person (hence the whole FPS thing). How many games in general change their formula? Role-playing games still make you level up and attack things repeatedly to do so. They also have a heavy emphasis on collecting random stuff...Adventure games in the Tomb Raider style haven't changed one bit. The newest ones i.e. Uncharted have more or less perfected the movement controls, but there's really not much room for them to expand on the whole. I would say ODST is a great deal different in style than Halo 3. For one you're not Master Chief so you can't jump super high in the air, your shields don't recharge, and you have weaker melee attacks. Sounds pretty different to me...I still think Halo has made some great changes to the genre that other games are still trying to catch up to. Like the whole vehicles thing. Halo's vehicles control perfectly and they have since the first one. How many games have you seen that try to copy that? A crapload...Also, what's more fun then pulling off a successful sticky grenade a half-mile across the map? Nothing! As far as first-person games on consoles are concerned, Halo is ace and likely always will be, especially when other games can't seem to catch up. This is why each title consistently gets high scores.
method115: If you liked Halo 1 you will most likely enjoy Halo 3: ODST. I'm not exaggerating because I am kind of in the same boat as you. I thought Halo 2 and 3 were just decent, but when I played ODST, even though it's really short, it's got a really great campaign. I liked the whole open world approach and hope that Reach goes the same route. Plus the pistol from the original is pretty much back in full form. Kick-ass!! With that being said, if you are interested in buying ODST but have no intention of getting into Halo 3's multiplayer, than wait until the price drops or until you can find it for about 30 bucks cheaper online. It'll definitely be worth a purchase then.

Thats good for MS. I only have a 360 but I've just never been into Halo past the first one. Really haven't been into FPS's in general lately so no surprise. I am playing Half life 2 again with the orange box never played the expansions so I'm start the whole game over.
well Im not much of a fan of the halo series but Im guessing that when halo reach releases it'll probably have alot more changes made compare to the odst version
i'm a fan of halo 3, but odst was not worth buying... the gameplay is virtually the same as halo 1, 2 and 3. the online play is unchanged, the campaign is short and ( in my opinion ) boring. eh... atleast i got a 20$ gift card for buying =P and i'll be selling the game to my friend for 55$ so i'm actually positive...
Just to let you know i am right now playing NFS: Shift and Dirt 2...thats 200 bucks gone...and am waiting on Forza 3 and Arkham Asylum...another 200 bucks...this is insane....and Africa is known for swollen bellies and famine...crap!!!!!!
Okay...i know this is a little off, but how is it that there is no mention of Africa in anything, apart from stereotypes as in RE5...freakin Kijuju, Far Cry 2...am getting killed here...there is a vastarmy of gamers from Africa and we tight like that..thatnk goodness we aint got fanboyism here yet, but am sure we can kick major ass online....if we had high speed connectivity and all that. This is what we go thru...we pay 100 dollars pergame regardless of how old that motha is, we pay 1000 dollars for the PS3 Slim, same for the 360 Elite...and we play games at least in my case nothing less than 5 hours a day...i play so hard i sleep for like 4 hours a night...gotta work during the day. It just kills that these Sony and Microsoft people feel Africa aint sh*t yet we put lotsa dough in they pockets. We have no outlet for official hardware...it's like the only country in Africa to these mighty execs is South Africa, andi guess it's because they got white people living there...great!!!!! Keep marginalising us...our time is gonna come...the VooDoo Console is gonna rise from outta here and we will have our own sh*t and man!!!!! Big deal, no mainstream games were released that month. I bet if ODST was released in November, December, or January, ODST would not even break the top 25. Tales of vesperia is a year old game and it almost doubled ODST. Sorry, but I am not impressed at all.

Looking at the Titles listed in the Japan market, it is no wonder the 360 is not getting the love. I love my 360 and it has a lot to do with the games they offer. Nothing above including ODST has my interest. I guess they are just a completely different demographic.

It would be because there are more 360s out there. plain and simple. @fazterstyle1 You all don't have MGS4 you all have MGS Rising. You all can have your REs, your Tekkens, and your Devil may crys. We have God Of Wars, infamous, Uncharted 1-2, Killzone 2, LBPs, and Folkure. etc. noted Dead or Alive was and is and excellent game.(Matter what system it's on.) Project Natal sounds like a good idea, but I wouldn't trust anything electronic M$ puts out. And Splinter cell???? I don't don't know we'll have to wait and see on that one.
the japanese used to be the masters at making videogames now all they make is a load of rehashed crap,Final Fantasy still plays like it did 10 years ago and one of the biggest selling franchises in japan Dynasty Warriors is the same mind numbing repetitive button mashing crap it was when it was released as a launch title for the PS2,western devs far exceed them in talent and technology in the development of games now so who cares what their playing,Id rather be playing modern warfare than Pokemon thats for sure

Every morning i wake up at 7:00 and the first thing I do is go worship SONY at my custom made altar I also have a picture of me and Kaz Hirai which he personally signed. I like paying the 20$ mountly subscription for Qore so I can get free themes demos and download and then watch game trailers.
