Big in Japan: Final Fantasy IV Collection

They are readily available in U.S. and Europe though. If sales aren't that strong for a $250 handheld, what's going to happen when Sony releases their $300 NGP?

Played it on SNES, GBA, DS now for the PSP

When is there going to be a remake of part 1. I want to see the characters grow up again like with the rat tail quest.

it is kind of funny that japanese outlets can reveal how many systems and games are sold, and NPD refuses. great job NPD!

I would have liked to see 3DS sales had they released the FFIV collection on that system.

@LordKaizer new game is have a new character and story,... i say REMAKE it for good,.. with the same character and story, but have the graphics, combat style of ff12,..

@ DBZKING1234 you have no clue what you're talking about do you? The PSP is one of the top selling systems in Japan (Go not included) and the PSP has out sold both the PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America.

No one owns a PSP. Stop releasing games that people would pay for on a useless portable.

I think there's been more FFIV re-releases than there has been FF main series' releases.

Can't wait for the collection. And I might add, WOW I've never actually noticed how dominating the sales numbers are for portable gaming. All 10 top sellers are DS or PSP related..

It's not really about liking the 360--It's about buying Japanese and national pride--ask your grandparents about it but buying American used to be big here--in japan a more expensive product would be bought because was made in japan before they'd support a foreign company.

I say again i think they should do ff Hd collection and think do great remake ff7 and put voices in it i think about time ff7 gets reamke on ps3 only and show everything we rembered

@blackace Yea like the persona games. I agree with you. All the Jrpgs is where its at.

I used to be a massive fan of Japanese developed games, or at least, it seemed that part of the world was responsible for all the greatest games. I had a thought reading this article that truly the last Japense game that got me excited was Metal Gear Solid 4 - anything after that has been "so-so" or just "good" IMHO.

@LazyGamerX i don't mind a remake of 7 but i rather for them to not even touch 7 and just make a 7-2 with versus gameplay engine for one 7 is a classic and to me classics should not be touch when you have a different staff or another dev studio doing a game

My fav releases of FFIV are for GBA and PSX.

Alright, DW franchise sell is still pretty strong. Hope this will help Koei Tecmo to bring another ROTK strategy game, which is my fave strategy games ever ...

@LazyGamerX, and they are well aware. That is why they wait with it until they are remaking the older ones first.

Who keeps buying the Gundam and Dynasty Warrior games. I want to know who keeps buying what I understand are some of the worst game series available today.

People like to relive their past. It's the reason why people look so fondly back to NES and SNES games and want sequels and remakes. Their Nostalgia makes the game seem even greater than it was and anything they can do to get it back they'll do.

The DS version had bad 3D graphics. I like this version more.

Funny how people complain about Squenix doing nothing but rereleases, and yet most people clamor for more. See the comments below. :P

arrhhh just remake FF7 already! I promise you if they did it right they'd see some serious profit's.

$40 for ports or sequels seems to much for a 3DS game. SSIV could be the exception. Looking at the charts, it just proves that there are no games for the 3DS yet.

PSP Gos 600 sales puts PSP above 3ds. ************************************************************ You would have to include the DSi, DSI LL & DS Lite sales as well then. PSP sales were higher this week due to Dissidia 012 and Final Fantasy IV Collection. Watch it drop next week.

@LiqMD @blackace Did you read my post? The PS2 (2, two) is keeping up the the XBox 360 (you know, the new one?). ********************************************************* Yes, I read your post. Did you read mine? Japan gamers don't like American consoles. They would rather buy the 11 year old PS2 than purchase a HD XBox 360 with new JRPG IP's on it. They also don't care for western software which is why American developed games sell like crap on both PS3 and XBox 360 in Japan. Even Uncharted 2 sold like crap in Japan. Tales of Vesperia and Blue Dragon outsold it in Japan. lol!! Xbox 360 is seen as a Western game console with Westernize games. So it's no surprise the PS2 is selling almost as good. It's dirt cheap and has the games Japanese gamers want to play.

It would be nice if those titles became available for download via Xbox Live.

Square Enix, do the following: 1. Remake V and VI for the 3DS. 2. Remake VII, VIII, and IX for the PS3. 3. Make a remake collection of I, II, and III. 4. Remake this on the 3DS with graphics even more detailed than the DS version.

I WANT FFIV! Shame I don't have a PSP. Just hope they port it to iOS at some point. Either that or I'll ask for a PSP Go (I know which one it is...) for this year's Christmas.

It's good to see the PSP doing so well in Japan. It deserves to do that well in the US.

Playing the game right now since I imported, because english language option works, its a really good game, I'm about to finish FFIV remake, and about to play Interlude and After Years. Best version as well :) Hope SE remakes FFV and FFVI.
