Square Enix's PSP fighting game sequel cruises to top spot on sales charts, 3DS retains hold atop hardware sales chart with more than 200,000 units sold in second week.
During the 3DS's launch week in Japan, the glasses-free 3D handheld easily topped the hardware sales charts, but found its best-selling title peaking at third place, behind a pair of newly released games for Sony's systems. Japanese tracking firm Media Create today released its sales data for the 3DS's second week on sale, and the story was much the same.
For the week of February 28 to March 6, the 3DS sold 209,623 systems, well ahead of the second place PSP's 76,246 total. However, the best-selling 3DS game was Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle, which took third place on the charts for the second week in a row with 59,138 sold. Similarly, 3DS titles Nintendogs + Cats and Samurai Warriors Chronicles retained their fifth-place and eighth-place spots, respectively.
The week's best-selling game by a wide margin was Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy. The sequel to 2009's fighting game spin-off of the Square Enix role-playing game franchise sold 286,117 copies in its debut week. That was more than four times the total of the second-best-selling title, Spike's action game Way of the Samurai 4.

I can't help but feel that people's comments regarding the Japan quake are patronising. We all know how terrible it is, you don't need to remind us. If you are genuinely upset about it then send aid, don't just post about it here in order to win some thumbs up.
Wow monster hunter is still holding on in the top 10,but im not surprised, I mean it is one of the best psp games out there
It's good that people are talking about what happened over in Japan and elsewhere. It's gonna get a lot worse people. I love video games as much as the rest of you but I believe things are gonna get really bad on Earth.
is it good sales for 3DS? 200k seems so less? dunno, just my feeling. and their software is not exactly selling so hot either..
good sales for 3ds but why are we suprised lol , you wait til zelda mariokart then we will see a big number or when they up production which is hard right now since tsunamis hit , in other news china had a earthqauek thursday and the indonesian volcano erupted today as well pretty bad if you ask me
nice to know http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_in_Japan_(phrase)
the only thing big in japan is the disasters and the chaos that the poor japanese people r suffering from. may Allah be in aid of those needy of help (prays to God that things get better)
@packtop: Weird, I knew that but for some reason I was thinking it came out September 1st. I think I had it mixed up with Tri, that came out in August '09.
@mariomaster16 Monster Hunter Portable 3rd was release the 1 december 2010 so only a bit more then 3 months not 7 months
well sqaureenix did gone on top but sad times is the earthquake sad times pp played there last game and consle and life and family hundreds pp lost there lives want pp on here how you feel of japan earthquake :[
it's amazing how Monster Hunter is still in the top ten sellers seven months after release. Even if it only sold 26,000 copies, that's still quite a bit for a game that's been out for a while.
The psp go beat the DS lite. not bad. I expect 3DS ti be top cause everyone wants the new stuff. The psp came in second with very impressive numbers thanks to titles like dissidia.
only one thing bigger in japan this week then the 3ds... and that was 8.9 Japan quake..... god be with you all:(
