"Big announcements are coming soon!" the tweet reads.
No specific mention of the Xbox reveal event was made, but Microsoft and EA are rumored to announce a partnership at the reveal event that will see certain EA content released first on the next Xbox before launching on other platforms.
In addition, Microsoft's director of Xbox Live programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb today confirmed that the Xbox 720 reveal event will last one hour. By comparison, Sony's PlayStation 4 announcement event in February spanned just over two hours.

Ok I thought this has already been established that the next xbox will be called "Xbox Infinity"? why in the hell they keep saying "Xbox 720"? I found out about the name change here, on this site! Do the writers pay attention to the other articles on this website?
@gellis1981 technically it's still just a rumor, no official statement has been made by Microsoft....and again, who cares what they call it until the official name is released, you were able to read-between-the-lines to understand that "Xbox 720" refers to the "next Xbox" yeah?
I'm interested on how this next-gen transition will take place, will people who buy BF4 on Xbox 360 be able to play with people who have it on the next Xbox system?
@Gegglington yea I remember that too, my only thing is that jumping from Xbox to Xbox 360 was a huge leap, whereas now that consoles become more and more similar to PCs it seems the transition won't be as "hard"...does that make sense?
They dont have enough fucking up entire videogame franchises (dating back to bullfrog, westwood, murdering ultima and so on until BF3) , they now want to ruin an entire generation of consoles.
Partnerships with EA and Activision... meaning more timed exclusive DLC a month before the other platforms. That's cool an all, but I don't do this whole 'DLC' thing.
Fine if you want it, if you don't (and if you have something called patience) I really don't see how this 'partnership' achieves anything.
@warhawk-geeby It' makes a huge difference getting it early. I read a stats page at some point and the amount they sell and how much money it brings in would make your jaw drop.
It's a totally worthwhile business partnership. Of course, everyone is in business to make money and they are doing just fine with early release DLC, it sells extremely well.
Big news: You have to pay an subscription for playing BF4 -- aside from the Live fee..? Not that far-fetched really, this IS EA we're talking about afterall.
They win straight away by making their show shorter. God I can't stand a lot of empty corporate speak that goes on and on, keep it short, sweet, simple and to the point and I'm happy.
@jeffrobin Agreed. It was head-scratchingly painful to watch. During the actual trailers they showed, I was enjoying it, but the rest was just a bunch of strange developers/executives who had no stage presence whatsoever in their jeans and plaid shirts, unsure of what to even do with their hands.
You could tell those guys were not good public speakers. They went on and on with boring tirades about technical and vision details no one wanted to hear. One thing I'm sure of is Microsoft is better at that sort of thing. At least the reveal today won't be painful to watch. They're going to just cut right to it and get to the good stuff without any awkward filler.
@jeffrobin You have to remember though a lot of Sony's conference wasn't necessarily aimed towards consumers, it was more aimed towards investors and their take on the future of the industry.
Can't wait to be able to upload my snipe shots, I heard both nex-gen consoles will have this ability.
Best shot I ever got was wake island, 1548m headshot, guys spawns on the deck of ship out at sea. He runs to the end of the deck to get in the chopper, but the pilot flies off, he start running back. I dial my scope in, raise it high, boom 1 shot. took him out just before got behind cover in the middle of the ship. Was so happy that I got the shot but sad that no one saw it :(
Whatever console brings a fun to play and more than decent looking mmorpg that works with a controller very well and does not allow any person to add a kb or mouse to it gets my money for sure.
Not surprised if MS did indeed sign a deal with EA to get content on Battlefield first. Add COD and MS now gets content for both major shooters first. However only a moron would let something like this sway them from their game machine of choice. Xbox may have got Skyrim content first and PS may have got Assassins Creed content first, but I still buy my games on PC because I am a PC gamer. Not a get all the DLC first so I can be cool gamer. I imagine that kind of gamer is only cool in an elementary school lunch room lol.
@toddx77 Some of us get our DLC on consoles because we simply enjoy consoles.. it's not about being a "cool gamer." I don't know where you're getting that idea from. If you ask me, it's the PC gaming community that takes themselves so seriously.
I do agree though that I've never based my gaming decisions on which console gets certain DLC. If my console of choice gets exclusive stuff, I'll gladly enjoy it, but it's not a game changer for me. I think Microsoft needs to focus more on exclusive games rather than exclusive DLC.
@GrayF0X786 I don't want any less then those that will be on the PC version of the game. So if the PC goes to 128 the consoles have to be there aswell.
So far nothing is platform-exclusive about the games that are being rumored. I am really curious as to see how MS will move to replace Bungie (definitely the best exclusive dev for xbox).
@Sydrum Disagree. I like Halo and Bungie (especially the Myth series) but I always thought it was all a bit over hyped. Looking forward to the next Xbox big time but I'm absolutely sure there are many good development studios out there in the wings waiting to take over.
If you want to impress us, don't show off a single player mode nobody is going to give a **** about. BF players are multiplayers. Show us team work, tanks, planes, and a bunch of **** getting blown up.
@Lawdog1521 you see they can't give up on singleplayer or how else are they going to justify 50 bucks worth of DLC?
You sir paid 60 bucks for a multiplayer only game but we forgot to put in a stat-reset feature so you have to pay another 50 bucks to get that and a couple of maps.
That would be silly indeed. Of course the BF3 campaign was a total waste of time. But still you get my drift right?
Timed exclusives do not make up for lack of exclusive software. By the sound of it MS are going to spending their money on timed exclusives or exclusive DLC for big franchises like FIFA, CoD and BF, I hope gamers can see through it and support companies that are putting money into actually developing games.
