BF2 getting boosted, patch bugged

Well i think someone needs 2 role the dice and shake them up alittle. Ihope this gets 2 them somehow hint hint..........

The EA downloader crashes everytime i try to open it.

Ah, well. I was lured into buying SF by the 'more infantry combat' allegations, but I'm not falling for it with EF. The way the game switches between BF2 and SF is ridiculous (it basically launches the two games as if they were completely different games), and the (few) new feats in SF are all but worth the money I payed for it. The maps from SF are utter crap, and there is possibly one of 2 out of the lot which are worth playing. Moreover, SF special kits and abilities can not be used in regular BF2 games (which is fine, for the sakef of game balance), but new weapons are. And of course, SF brought new bugs along. gellis1981: Nope, you are wrong, game publishers do set hard deadlines at some point. Yeah, DICE can still work after the deadline and release when they want to, but I'm pretty sure there's some loss for DICE (or any company) for not obeying a clear deadline. So if they have bugs in their game, EA is partly to blame also... Do you know that even toy makers loses tons of money if they can't deliver a shipment on time, to let's say Walmart? We are not talking hundreds of dollar here. Hope you learned something new. Welcome to the real world.

After installing the new patch I cant get my joystick to work ingame...lol figures. Before the patch it worked just fine and after..nada.

did the new patch add new weapons or am i just easily confused ?

Hey... wait a minute. People sill play Bf2 SF?? I installed it played it for 4 hours, and never played it again. It was that bad. I play vanilla bf2 and ill be dammned if i pay for something that the modders make better and for free. EA: Give your head a shake, fix your game. You owe this to everyone who bought the base copy of the game. Fair is fair. Knowing EA/dice's track record, this booster will be just as lame as SF and just as buggy.

That being said, I haven't had any major problems with the latest patch, aside from the fact that it tried to force me to create a new account and reset all my controls and settings to the default. I'll still in all likeliness be picking up the booster pack...I'm a sucker for new content.

EA may just be the publisher, but EA in all likelyhood sets the release date as well...most developers are at the whim of the publisher...if EA says "we want the game released in time for X-mas (example)", then DICE, if they want to retain EA as their publisher, will ship the game for x-mas. Same thing happened with Lucasarts and Obsidian Entertainment with KoTOR 2; the game was only 3/4 finished, but Obsidian didn't have the established powerbase to say "no". There aren't that many developers out there that have that power, outside of Valve, Bioware, or Rockstar, to name a few.

EA sucks because it bought the rights to publish the James Bond games and then srewed them up. Then it got the exclusive rights from the NFL to make the only NFL games. I'm not saying Madden is bad, I just would like competition forcing them to make the best game they can. I think 2K games should file an anti-trust lawsuit against the NFL and EA. BTW, you don't have to be logged in to Steam to play any Valve or Half-Life related games.

Well, $9.99 is not much to ask for, and it should enhance the game, although it has to be said that some games just give out this kind of additional content in update patches.

In the last 9 months since the game was orginal released..can anyone name any major bugs with the game besides this new bug with BF2:SF maps and the wrong color tags for friendlies? Real big bugs...bugs that effect the game while your playing...I'm not talking about Dolphin Diving.

Uh no..DICE is fully in charge on releasing the game when it's ready and when its ready for EA to publish it..that's how it works...Do you think DICE is just going to say, well its half done and we need another 6 months and EA is going to say no..release it right now...NO..DICE releases its games when their ready..not when EA says so. The only bug I seen since its release was the wrong color for friendlies, red instead of blue. Different topic BTW I guess its hard for some people to understand that a PC game is different from a console game due to the variety of different hardware and software each PC user uses, compared to a console with fewer bugs since everyone is using the same equipment.

ok EA didnt make bf2, the expansion or any of the patches, stop being idoits, they are the publishers not the developers

9 month after releasing the original game who could release an expansion without bugs ? That's it. they just wanna make more & more & more money. Who wants to pay 10$ for more buggs ?

A patch is alot better than no patch.. Either way you will be screaming "I want a patch, blah blah blah" or "Why don't we get enough patches?!?" The CoD 2 community is desperately waiting on a patch that is 3 months overdue, so don't complain that you are getting "too many patches"

Valve is very committed to the community, there are still some slight bugs here and there but nothing too major. Almost every week now there's an update to one of its games.

Yes, Dice's battefleid games typically start out pretty buggy. But normally their patches fix the problems and add tons of content. Unfortunatly EA has decided to not only release an expansion literally months after the release of the buggy title, but have released three seperate patches, that have ALL had serious issues. And that isn't normal. And the booster pack is a terrible idea. It's EA trying to milk cash out of content that would normally just be part of one of Dice's normal patches, and is almost certainly going to split up the user base even more, now that there are 7 seperate combinations of BF2 to try and play online.

EA has nothing to do with fixing the game..."EA is the publisher"..."Dice is the makers"...If Dice has a patch ready....EA deliveries the patch. Don't blame the messenger. So do your research people..especially you The_Fat_Zebra EA doesn't make patches...so believe that.

I am just glad they aren't just putting out a game and forgetting about it. This is cool and I agree with truelove79 who can't afford 10 bucks when games like World of Warcraft charge $15 a month to play. i think it's great!

"More expansions, more money. Is it gonna be more fun?" Do you play BF2? I love that they keep adding maps, weapons, vehicles, etc. And for $10, who can't afford that? Lots of players play Karkand 24/7, I am not one of those players, I love all the maps.

Errr..Do you play CSS or DOD:S{tankintheair315} ...Valve constantly keeps the community inform every Friday with patches or upcoming updates...Valve is probably the most committed to their community.

Digital Illusions has a bad history of buggy releases with the BF series. This is just one more example. On the plus side, if you don't have the SF pack you might get a better base level experience. Ah well....

Exactly LukeCube. That's how it is with EA. I don't know what's goin' on with them, they seem to mess up more of the patches. Next time a patch is released, it better be bug free.

Why do you think the EA downloader is trash? It's simple enough, and all it does is download a file... what's trashy about that? It's not like Steam, which requires you to be logged in to play content purchased from it (or even not purchased from it in a lot of cases). Do you think it's crap just cuz you're an EA hater (which is fine, but back up your statements with some real fact/opinion). It could be I'm just missing out on something, and it really does suck and I didn't even realize it in my ignorance. I just don't see how simple download manager can achieve "suck" status when it doesn't really do too much other than what it states. Personally, I'm totally neutral about it. It works, I've had no problems, therefore no reason to hate on it. Now Steam... that sucks. So, someone, anyone, please tell me why I'm wrong for not thinking it sucks!

i laugh at how much the patches have been effecting the game, it launched it good condition but the patches seem to create as many problems as they fix, i love this game, it is great when played with friends, and the scalable maps make for nice 16 player games that are tons of fun. i still feel that there are areas that the game neglects like the spawn point placement. spawn killing happens way to much, and a simple fix would be to spawn people inside of buildings instead of in the freaking open. the SF expansion was tons of fun, but extremely bugy as well. EA seems to not worry about testing their games the BFME 2 demo showed that they removed the awsome seige mechanics of the original game, funnily enough they took the one good thing in the original and removed it making it a total waste of time. EA should stick to the simpler console crowds and let some one else publish pc shooters like BF2.

The patch downgrades Special Forces by 2 maps...EA surely hired some of the most inept testers in the world because that bug was nearly impossible to miss. Just mount in a TOW, shoot, server crash....LOL!!

Yeah, if the Booster Pack wasn't EA Downloader Exclusive, I'd probably be interested in buying it.
