The original game was great and I hope this game does well enough to support a sequel. I'm not going to buy the 'redo' though. I wish these developers would develop faster.
Beyond Good & Evil going HD in 2011
Ubisoft announces that high-def rework of acclaimed 2003 action adventure will arrive for XBLA, PSN next year.
Nearly seven years ago, Ubisoft released the stealth-heavy action adventure Beyond Good & Evil for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC. And while fans are eagerly awaiting new details on Beyond Good & Evil 2, which was announced in May 2008, those details didn't come today. Instead, Ubisoft announced that it will be giving the original Beyond Good & Evil an HD face-lift.
Titled Beyond Good & Evil HD, the reboot will arrive for Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network in 2011. According to the publisher, the Beyond Good & Evil redux will feature 1080p graphics, including enhanced character models and upgraded textures, and Ubisoft has also remastered the game's musical score.
The publisher offered less detail on the game's new features, noting only that gamers can unlock achievements and trophies by "discovering new secrets" through an online component.
Released in November of 2003, Beyond Good & Evil won critical acclaim for its mix of traditional action adventure elements with stealth segments, a picture-taking gameplay mechanic, and an engaging story of a young woman pulled into a rebel faction to blow the lid off of an interstellar government conspiracy.
Ubisoft has maintained a high level of secrecy around Beyond Good & Evil 2, which is being helmed by franchise creator Michel Ancel. As part of the game's announcement more than two years ago, Ubisoft released a cinematic teaser trailer, one in which Jade and her man-pig companion Pey'j appeared to be idling away time after their hovercar had broken down in a desert wasteland.
