Man, Brain Age is effing invincible. Maybe that crazy "Addict the entire world to the DS" strategy Nintendo is trying can actually work.

who cares about best buy's list. while ffxXII is worth $50.00 or more. circuit city had it on sale for only $37.99 on launch day. even bill gates can't resist that.

It's worth noting that this list doesn't take the FFXII collector's edition into account. That was only sold at GameStop and EB Games.

madden 07 best game ever

Gears of War will be #1 next week and every week until 2007. Bet on it.

I hope to see high sells for Final Fantasy XII, its a great game. guitar hero II and killzone are good games too.

Funny how this list is all Marvel Ultimae Alliance and Madden 07, just spread out on different platforms.

I hate Best Buy. I also hate Madden, but for more pronounced reasons. They used money and legal tactics to eliminate the competition. Then they released a simple rehash of a previous game and hyped it like there was no tomorrow. The graphics on Madden for the 360 aren't that great. The gameplay is lacking. The multiplayer is unstable. The menus lag. How is this an improvement? How is this worth $60? I love football, but by killing off the other games (the NFL 2K series mainly) now they don't have to try to be worth your money, you play Madden or nothing.

This is a no surprise. Madden will always come up as the top as long as the football season is still going on. Would had been better if the 2K Sports could still make football games. There football game would be way better than Madden game.

Bleah! Madden is the ultimate rental. Look for my copy in your local bargain bin. Can't wait to see next months list...Bully, Guitar Hero, Gears of War, let the fight for our dollars begin!!

Marvel Alliance is one cool game!

Madden should not be first since they dont allow competition, while Final Fantasy at least has to compete agaisnt other RPGs. The United States economy is based on competition that leads to innovation, since Madden bought out the NFL contract they have no reason to innovate.

the only people who play FF are people who don't leave their house to go hang with friends or play sports. I go out with friends and play sports. I also play Madden and Final Fantasy XII. What have you say about that?

why is everyone surprised to see madden beating final fantasy? madden attracts the whole spectrum of players from hardcore gamers to jocks and everyone in between. the only people who play FF are people who don't leave their house to go hang with friends or play sports. plus havent there already been like 20 FF games released?

Of course ps2 still sells well, its cheap affordable.

wow, i can't believe ps2 stuff is still selling soooo well.

I used to play madden every year, same with NHL, but I guess after about a decade of re-purchasing the same game with barely any alterations beyond stats, it eventually became completely uninteresting to me. I am looking forward to trying it on the Wii, because for once in the almost two decades of Madden, the game will actually be a little bit different. (Thank god.)

FFXII should have been first.

think about it. the people that buy madden to put it to the top don't spend their free time roaming gamespot. they go to clubs or play ball. the sunlight doesn't hurt them. so unless you interact with people who listen to jay z or have girlfriends, you'll never understand why putting out 50 bucks to play the glorious madden is a damn privalege!!!

You know, it wouldn't be hard for GameSpot to go to each retail HQ (BestBuy, GameStop, WalMart, etc), ask them to print out a simple total sales figure inventory sheet of all stores combined (including preorders). Unless they're really picky about commercial eavesdroppings. I'm also quite a medium-to-high fan of the NFL. But to seriously waste money on a sports game ($50, 50 BUCKS!!!! You can already save it for a next-gen console!) over others that are way better or over something else is beyond me.

I must be out of touch in America. I live in the heart of the country (Kansas City), and not one person that I interact with enjoys football enough to sacrifice a weekend over it. Well...except for this guy at work that has no teeth and loses money on football games every Sunday... I deliver pizza, so I see a lot of people. Out of all of the people I deliver pizza to on major game days, which are DEAD in terms of business, I see maybe 5 out of the 25-30 people I deliver pizza to wearing a jersey, or even watching the game. So with exception of the toothless guy, no one I know gives a flying turd about football...or sports, for that matter. Madden is retarded.

Did anybody in here even read this part: "Final Fantasy XII landed in the number two slot in its first week of release, which may come to a surprise to some given its record shipment numbers. Thats why Madden was ahead because a good bit of the FFXII sales wernt even counted. Plus this is just bestbuy.com not the best buy stores.

Who buys this garbage that is Madden? FFXII is like a million times better then Madden. One of the best PS2 rpgs vs some lame rehased football game. I know for sure I didn't buy this from bestbuy.com. I got mine at EB to get the collecters edition.

Madden is like the Sims. It sells so much more than other games because people who dont normally play games all go and buy it because they dont know any better.

Actually, Madden>FF. You have to realize that sports like that appeal to much broader audience than a japanese role playing game. I greatly prefer FF12 over madden, but sometimes you have to use logic with these things.

Gears went on sale on the 7th people... Thats why it is not on the list... The list only goes to the 4th...

i really don't see the hype for american football (being australian) so it is hard for me always hearing about madden topping game charts. i have no idea how it could hold first place over final fantasy xii, which is a real contender for game of the year.
