Bestbuy.com best sellers: October 15-21
Sam Fisher zip lines to top, zombies rise again, Bully overcomes criticisms, and guess what's back...Nintendogs.
With the launch of the PlayStation 3 and Wii just a few weeks away, Microsoft is savoring its last moments as the lone next-gen console on the market. Three of the four top-selling games from Bestbuy.com last week were Xbox 360 titles, which likely won't be the case once the console's competitors hit the market.
The online retailer's best-selling game for the week of October 15 to 21 was Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent for the Xbox 360--the next-gen debut for the stealth franchise. Second place went to Capcom's Dead Rising, which continues to see brisk sales as an Xbox 360 exclusive. The final Xbox 360 game in the top 10 was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, which debuted this week in the fourth spot.
Nintendo's Touch Generation games, which preach brain over brawn, continue their splash here in the US with four titles in the top 10. Chart mainstay Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day landed in third, the pooches of Nintendogs: Dalmatian and Friends clawed into fifth, Big Brain Academy took seventh, and the compilation Clubhouse Games was ninth. Noticeably missing from the chart was another DS game--New Super Mario Bros.
The final three spots went to PlayStation 2 games. Rockstar Games' Bully overcame heaps of controversy and pummeled its way to seventh. The previous week's chart topper, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 for the PS2, dropped to ninth on the leaderboard, while the PS2 version of Madden NFL 07, which has a shot at best-selling game of the year, hung tight in 10th.
