If EA is satisfying the needs of gamers as evidenced by the top 10 list, why is that worrisome? Apparently, gamers want their sports games and EA and Take Two are more than happy to oblige. On another note, it seems gamers really want their poker as well...never thought I'd see World Series of Poker break the Top 10 at number 6.
Bestbuy.com best sellers: October 1-7
Football replaces football atop the charts as FIFA takes field; soccer sim takes two slots, Madden holds tight with three.
The international version of football ran all over the American version last week, when the almighty Madden was ousted from the top spot of Bestbuy.com's console sales chart by another EA sports title, FIFA 07.
Electronic Arts' latest iteration of its prolific FIFA franchise debuted last week, with the PlayStation 2 version locking up the number one spot and the Xbox version sliding into sixth on Bestbuy.com's sales charts. The game was also released on the GameCube, DS, and PC. Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable versions will be released later this month.
Second place went to the bullet-heavy Grand Theft Auto imitator in Saints Row for the Xbox 360. The well-reviewed game from THQ was released in late August.
EA Sports continued its chart domination, with three versions of Madden NFL 07 and one version of NBA Live 07 joining FIFA 07 in the top 10. Madden took third (Xbox 360), fourth (PS2), and eighth (PSP), while NBA Live 07 for the PS2 dribbled into seventh.
2K Sports' NBA 2K7 for the Xbox 360, which was the third-best seller the previous week, hung on the rim of the top 10, landing in 10th. Rounding out the list was Activision's World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions in fifth and New Super Mario Bros. for the DS ninth.
