If EA is satisfying the needs of gamers as evidenced by the top 10 list, why is that worrisome? Apparently, gamers want their sports games and EA and Take Two are more than happy to oblige. On another note, it seems gamers really want their poker as well...never thought I'd see World Series of Poker break the Top 10 at number 6.
Football replaces football atop the charts as FIFA takes field; soccer sim takes two slots, Madden holds tight with three.
The international version of football ran all over the American version last week, when the almighty Madden was ousted from the top spot of Bestbuy.com's console sales chart by another EA sports title, FIFA 07.
Electronic Arts' latest iteration of its prolific FIFA franchise debuted last week, with the PlayStation 2 version locking up the number one spot and the Xbox version sliding into sixth on Bestbuy.com's sales charts. The game was also released on the GameCube, DS, and PC. Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable versions will be released later this month.
Second place went to the bullet-heavy Grand Theft Auto imitator in Saints Row for the Xbox 360. The well-reviewed game from THQ was released in late August.
EA Sports continued its chart domination, with three versions of Madden NFL 07 and one version of NBA Live 07 joining FIFA 07 in the top 10. Madden took third (Xbox 360), fourth (PS2), and eighth (PSP), while NBA Live 07 for the PS2 dribbled into seventh.
2K Sports' NBA 2K7 for the Xbox 360, which was the third-best seller the previous week, hung on the rim of the top 10, landing in 10th. Rounding out the list was Activision's World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions in fifth and New Super Mario Bros. for the DS ninth.

It's actually kind of worrying how much EA dominate that list. It's only going to increase when Battlefield 2142 comes out in stores.
Wow--if you look at the installed base of PS2 vs xbox360, it is AMAZING to me that Madden on Xbox360 sold more than for PS2.
THQ and Volition may not mind, but I find it very irritating. It has become a broken record to call Saints Row a clone of GTA. The sales prove that this game has legs.
Wow, I still can not believe the New Super Mario Bros. is STILL up there. Props for Nintendo on that game!
ryokinshin6x3 Deals? Games cost the same everywhere. There isnt really any deals. I go to Best Buy often. Its not accurate at all if you considered the overall sale of games nationwide in GameStop, Babbages, Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, and every other place.
loads of ppl do go to bestbuy though because they constantly hav deals on games, might not be perfectly accurate, bu toh well
the bestbuy charts is not the best, as they are not the only store to sell games... but 1 DS game, oh c'mon!
The OVERALL top ten nation wide Madden NFL 07 (PS2) Electronic Arts Saints Row (Xbox 360) THQ LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (PS2) LucasArts Madden NFL 07 (Xbox 360) Electronic Arts LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (GameCube) LucasArts Madden NFL 07 (Xbox) Electronic Arts NBA Live 07 (PS2) Electronic Arts LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (Xbox 360) LucasArts LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (Xbox) LucasArts Madden NFL 07: Hall of Fame Edition (PS2) Electronic Arts Who would go by just BestBuy? What about GameStop???
I honestly don't like buying games from Best Buy, they don't have that many choices or best specials like Fry's Electronics does, or Outpost.com. But I'm impress that FIFA 07 was number one.
Great that the XBox 360 is doing well, even with such weak releases september has showed. But when GoW come, and CoD3, and Splinter Cell DA, holiday season will rock the 360!!!!
"Wow ... only 1 DS game in top 10 ... but this will change when Pokemon is released!! " That's a long time from now, but you are right.
Wow, I thought super mario would be out of there but its hanging on, now drop the price and it'll shoot up again!
Damn! Almost all crappy sports titles. I hate to see the charts fill up with junk like that, it only encourages more!
tsk tsk soccer... i dont know qwhy americans call it soccer, when their "football" involves much less actually kicking a ball. Plus, we got the name football first.
"Why on earth is FIFA 07 there? IS football(soccer) even popular in America?" You forget that America is the land of the extremes. There are many people from other parts of the world that live in America.
Saints Row outsold Madden on 360 for the month. Hopefully the Madden crown has been conquered in the next generation.
fordies, "soccer" is very popular here. Sure, football gets all the attention but soccer is one of our major sports.
The list doesn't surprise me. I'm looking forward to seeing it for the week of 11/19 - 11/26. That should be interesting!
