Stop complaining about whether it's competitive or not... everyone knows RTS games are better for competitive play.
DICE says upcoming game to be "deepest shooter" the developer has ever created, with weapons, attachments, gadgets, awards, and service stars earned over time.
Last month, publisher Electronic Arts said preorder tallies for Battlefield 3 are currently tracking 10 times higher than predecessor Battlefield: Bad Company 2. However, reservation totals aren't the only area upon which Battlefield 3 is growing tenfold over its predecessor.
According to the latest Battlelog update, Battlefield 3 features 10 times as many in-game unlocks as Bad Company 2. These items include weapons, weapon attachments, gadgets, awards, service stars, and what DICE calls a "huge unlock tree" for vehicles.
DICE believes this in-game content surge will make it so players "will have as much fun with the game in 2013 as on launch day."
Battlefield 3 is due out on October 25, 2011, on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. It is the first core installment in the series since 2005's PC-exclusive Battlefield 2. Further, Battlefield 3 for the PC will not arrive on Steam and will "probably" charge secondhand users for online play.

@mclebron23 Since when does having good intentions mean you're not arrogant? You need a bit more seasoning if you think that's the case. And by the way, if you want to justify your scholarship, it's "I COULDN'T care less" not "I could care less." But then again - people who actually know how to write online are nerds, yet you're here, arguing with people about your scholarship in a video game comment section. You know the best thing about it? People like you, go around touting your credentials like they are a universal pass to be a total douche bag, and then think that calling people "kid" means you're mature. Clearly not the case. But hey, like mentioned - if I had chosen a screen name with "Lebron" in it I'd defend his honor to the death too.
@Uberfinn... I could care less with what you think kid. You obviously know nothing about basketball so please dont talk about it. Lebrons arrogant? Meanwhile you admitted to watching the "decision" lol. Way to contradict yourself. The money from the viewers went to charity BTW. Bet you didn't know that though. Let the adults talk? LOL most people on this site are under 15. You can just tell by their moronic comments. If you're an "adult" I really feel bad for you. Who said I'm bragging about my scholarship? The kid said I have no life so I mentioned I have a d1 scholarship for baseball...sounds like a "life" to me. Then you're dumb enough to bring up grammar mistakes on the internet lol. Obvious nerd is obvious. I didn't know I was writing a report or having a spelling test. My bad. Ps...Could care less if kobe has rings. He had Shaq in his prime who carried him to titles. Finals MVP all 3 championships. If Lebron had Shaq in his PRIME, he would win 3 rings easy, maybe more. Lebron is going to win rings sooner or later.
@mclebron23 You're a funny character. I look through all of your comments, and you are always saying you're not going to argue, or you're done arguing...but anyone scrolling down the page can see you arguing with people over and over. And by the way, me, and a couple million other people happened to watch the Lebron "decision" and then you're going to pretend like you know basketball...which, ironically, has nothing to do with Lebron's arrogance. You're a Lebron fan, so I excuse you for the blinded fury. Here's an idea. Since you didn't like to be associated with a geek who knew nothing - how about you just go play your D1 scholarship sports and leave the adults to talk about things in a way you're still learning about. You may feel like you are a great person because you have made it to D1, but I didn't need to go to college to play basketball in my adult life. I'm not going to go around boasting online like you apparently feel compelled to do, and make judgements about people, then cry when others do the same to you. You sound like a tool. Perhaps you should spend some more time putting your scholarship to use, learn to spell, some grammar, and THEN come back and brag about your free education, because right now, it's not really workin' for ya. The evidence is all here. Let me begin. "know" =/= "no" Oh, and you can shove your Kobe comment, because everyone knows he's arrogant too. You know what the difference is? Gold on his fingers. I know it hurts...but the truth is sharp. And
Oh and Dice just a tip release your dlc in a more timely manner before players lose interest in the game like in BFBC2.
Oh and teamwork is a skill. U can have the best individuals and it doesnt guarantee a win just ask the Miami Heat....ha or the whole NBA for that matter these days.
COD and COD2 u had to have some teamwork but the latest ones u need almost none....weather thats the level design or the way they wanted it to be is the question. But enough about that game this is BF3 time and it looks amazing! Love the fact that BF is more teamwork based game cuz i dont have the best kill ratio but im great at support. In BF there is a place for every kind of player.
Can't wait! Dice had better follow it up with enough DLC and maps to put CoD to shame! Bored of the same few modes and handful of maps for BFBC2!
@Kaem...I'm alreadly in school on a D1 scholarship for baseball. Thanks anyway though. Also you make no sense. When did i say anything about my own life experience lol? You obviously dont know what MLG is so stick to playing pubs. Now go back to playing video games and all day like you probably do. Loser. =)
@WolfGrey...Lastly im done arguing with you. You have no comebacks for anythings i say. You say the same things in every post you make. Once again I hate COD. Th only ones i like are COD2 and COD4 because they took skill, and you would of known that if you read my previous post but you insist on saying "you're a COD player" over and over and over. I've I have to go now because I have a playoff baseball game unlike you. I guarantee you reply even after i said im done replying. That will just prove to me you have too much time on your hands and you're butt hurt
@WolfGrey...First of all, dont compare me to you. I play college sports (baseball, basketball) unlike you, so know facts before calling someone a geek. I know for a fact you dont play sports just from the way you post stuff and the things you say, so don't lie and say you're a college athlete. As for the main discussion. Do you even read or remember what you post? You said in your last post that its not the game its the players, but before that you said "BF3 is not made for competing"...LOL are you slow? Pick one kid, which is it. Its not the "players" that make a game competitive BTW. A game has to have certain rules and game mechanics for it to be considered competitive. By your moronic statement you're basically saying MW2 and black ops pubs are competitive games just because a ton of "players" play it. Meanwhile both games are a joke and its a bunch of chaos in multiplayer. Thats why theres a thing called "customs" so you can change the games rules and settings. I'm not going to keep arguing about the "teamwork isnt skill". Its obvious you and most of the people on this site dont play competitive and are casuals. Go say "teamwork is skill" on a competitive website like MLGpro.com and you will get laughed at.
@mclebron23 You say it's not a skill because your own life experience says it isn't. Rotflmao! Go back to school and learn true facts instead of learning make-belive from your pathetic life.
@mclebron23 Something to understand here.By the way your going about this, your a geek yourself.Just thought i say that. Competition is brought up and about by those that wish it to be there, it has nothing to do with the game being competitive or not, its the people. So the game itself doesnt really bring it about.Games are for enjoyment, any other things that come up with it are simply bonuses or things made important by the players. As for your team doing so well, doesnt matter really at all in the discussion we are having now does it?But you at least agreed with this to a point. Though once you said "Teamwork isnt skill" you kinda completely discredited yourself to pretty much anyone on these boards for any kind of input you may give in the future. At least anyone who remembers it. Btw i dont play BF religiously.I play many many games.I simply enjoy it more than others because they have a tendency to actually change from game to game.It doesnt completely innovate the genre no, but its nice to have a change of pace.COD on the other hand doesnt really change at all from game to game.If you have played one, you have played them all.Its simply a matter of preference. Honestly the whole reason i said you should go to COD is because of the way you are acting here. You act like a typical COD player.A lot of them are typically rude, have no appreciation(or real understanding as is the case here) for other games, and are poor conversationalists. You should of noticed what i meant by the time i posted the same thing twice. And now a third time.
team work is important and definitely requires skill to master. IMO beleive teamwork is a skill, but not as necessary as other skills (i.e being able to shoot enemies)
Teamwork IS a skill. How the hell is it NOT a skill? Some people are great teamplayers because .... omfg....they are SKILLED at it...while some people just suck because they don't pay attention to what their team is doing. Teamwork is not a skill...what moron came up with that?
BF2 was a competitive game and had couples of competitions BF3 has so much opportunity for its own game that competition will be arround without a doubt. If we have Lan ability and all of those stuff competition is Logic
It is true that "teamwork" is not a skill. It does, obviously, have a meaning and is actually vital during online gameplay. I currently play B:BC2 and when my team lose, it is often down to poor teamwork, vise versa. Wow, 10x as much unlocks on B3 than BC2!!! Even more realistic gameplay!!! I think I'll be attached to this game. We'll see.
Great news. The previous games were pretty lacking in that department, and they honestly didn't keep my interest for very long. I look forward to earning goodies for a long time to come in BF3.
@kaem79...UMMM NO. Teamwork is exactly that... team work. You can have good teamwork but still get killed by 4 players that are individually more skillful. Explain to me why Instinct went 21 and 1 in their first tournament and 22 and 0 in their second. Why? Because they are individually better than every other team and they were beating teams that were together for much longer than them because teamwork is NOT skill. Get a clue kid and elaborate back up the things you say with facts instead of coming on here just to annoy. =)
@WolfGrey...I never asked for the definition of the word. I just said dont use it because it just proves to me what kind of person you are. A GEEK. Im done arguing with you. You're telling me I dont know about BF meanwhile I said twice that I like it better than COD. You're so moronic that you assume that COD takes no teamwork lol. You obviously never played it competitively. Pubs dont count lol. If i didnt know anything about BF why was my team top 10 on GB for it? You tell me. Like i said, u dont understand COD, so keep your mouth shut about that game and stick to BF. Funny part is i obviously dont play BF religiously like you and im still better than you. Did you ever place top10 on GB? I guarantee you havent. PS...I agree with your last comment "These games aren't for competing". You pretty much agreed with what I've been trying to get through you and "AnUndEadMonk3ys" heads. If the game is not for "competing" like you said, then dont mention the word "skill" when talking about battlefield. Teamwork is not skill. So dont say that again. Now go wack off to BF kid. Have a nice day =)
This is good news! However, I hope that we will also be able to use more gadgets per category than in BFBC2. Otherwise, it could be frustrating to have more stuff, but we can't take advantage of it. And, of course, as a throw back to BF2, I hope they make it possible to see our avatars wearing all the badges, adwards, and ribbons they receive, rather than just seeing them in a list. :)
@mclebron23 Trolling is a internet term now.Just as much as browsing or "surfing the web". Its just a term used to explain people like you. You do realize Battlefield is about TEAMWORK right? Its suppose to simulate a BATTLEFIELD.Who would of known eh?These arent suppose to be infantry skirmishes alone, these are suppose be battles using whatever you can at your disposal. These games aren't for competing. They are for having fun and working with a team.Like i said, you just dont understand Battlefield. I told you to go COD because like it or not, you belong there.Your attitude suits a COD player and your lack of understanding of simple concepts also suits a COD player.
still playing KILLZONE 3 online,,, and can't wait to get mi self a copy BF3 and starting the online journey........BAD COMPANY 2 multiplayer was SUPERB.....It was the best online FPS game and the most LAG FREE ........
@george43 This game doesn't have faction based weapons. I saw footage of the US team using the SV-98, a Russian made weapon. You can use any gun you want no matter what team you're on.
@Uberfinn...im not even going to argue with you. You obviously no nothing about basketball so please stick to video games. Lebron Arrogant? Last i checked he took less money to have a better chance to win, he spends tons of money on charity and if you actually watched ESPN you would no hes doing another charity to help kids have a better chance to graduate high school...yup, sounds real "arrogant" lol. You're an obvious Kobe D rider. One of the most arrogant/cockiest players in NBA history. Get a clue. =)
@WolfGrey...first off, dont use the word "trolling" ever again. Just makes you sound like a geek. Secondly i really dont care if it takes skill or not to shoot down helicopters or drive vehicles. If you knew anything about competitive gaming you would know that we dont like that corny crap and just want guns that take skill and people to shoot. Third: How would i not have a clue about BF if i specifically said i like it better than COD? Guess you cant read. Especially when i literally killed all the COD modern warfare games in my other posts. Did you even read them? Probably not. The mods for some reason deleted them meanwhile half the post on here are killing COD.
@Tafflelost Way to be an elitist. I enjoy controllers more than mouse and keyboard.I enjoy the grip and the comfort in using one.I still enjoy both setups but prefer controllers. I however own PC and consoles.I have always owned both for many many years. Neither is superior, its all personal preference.Get off your high horse.
@mclebron23 Not sure if your just trolling or if your serious. A numnut in a helicopter will crash, same with planes. It takes skill to hit some helicopter when you have to predict where you need to fire.Vehicles dont move as zombie like in COD.And dogfights in the Battlefield games arent that easy.First you have to adjust to the controls and learn to balance your inputs to remain in good condition. Then you have to be able to lead your targets all the while predicting where they might go in their full range of motion. As for ground vehicles, it takes a good team to keep one up and running to make a difference at all in play.I have seen some stupid teams where i could run up with my DRILL and take down tanks in BFBC2.But a good team is always aware and ready to repair. If they arent skilled or know what they are doing then any new or unskilled player can take them out. Either way its quite obvious you have no REAL clue about how the Battlefield games work or how things work for tactics. We all know COD will outsell but we also all know MW3 will be just another trash game. But anyway judging by your attitude, you should be playing COD anyway.
LOL you little kids are a bunch of battle field D riders. I hate COD and like battlefield, but i call it how i see it and helicopters, vehicles and RPGs are for vaginas. Also as much as i hate COD and i dont know what you kids are smoking but im sorry to say that MW3 is going to sell more than BC3, WHY? because theres still going to be millions of 5-16 year olds that think COD is "OMZZ BEST GAME EVER DUDE!" that have there mommys buy the game for them. Now you butt hurt kids can thumb me down like geeks like i actually care. pce =)
@AnUndEadMonk3y...did you just mention the word "skill" in the same paragraph as "flying helicopters" and "vehicles"? Thanks. You just convinced to not buy this game. Especially if you're trying to say you need skill to fly a helicopter and shoot one down. Im good. Last time i checked flying helicopters and shooting RPGs is for noobs and isnt fun at all. Competitive players just want skillful guns to shoot people with. Not corny helicopters and vehicles. Those are for the casual players.
BTW I guarantee i get banned after this because some MOD will be butt hurt over what i said. That just gives me proof that your feelings are hurt and you really believe you have no life LOL. pce =)
@betterthenu6..."Oh snap"?...Its not my fault the no life Mods on this site deleted my post for no reason. The mod even warned me lol for "trolling". Who uses that word? Only geeks. All i said in my post was my opinion on this game and COD and thats considered "trolling"??? Meanwhile half the people on the comments are bashing COD and they dont get warned or their comments deleted??? Oh ok. thats makes sense.
@Snaptrap u said "lets be excellent to each other" im just wondering what you mean by that and if its even on topic
@hella_epic Wait you mean the PC trailers right. Because the only trailers viewed by anyone for consoles was by IGN and the Devs gave it a tagline warning before even showing it about having to omit a lot of destructable enviroments, having to take out some texturing, and making the maps smaller. At least COD you basically know what your getting IS what they are showing NOT some shoe horned lower res, Smaller enviroment package that they only bothered to show the gameplay to a select few website editors. Go to IGN and read the showing of BF because if you think you've seen the actual console trailer you're wrong.
@Taffelost Computers might have the edge graphically but thats kind of where their edge ends.I mean I've played FPS games on a comp and it in no way beats using a controller, Plus having friends over and playing on your big screen TV in your media room is a lot better than having your friends over to...oh wait you cant share your computer w/ your small screen w/ your friends..sorry.
As long as the unlocks in no way resemble Medal of Honor's system (hated that game), but come -slightly- slower than they did in BC2, and I'll be happy.
