I am loving this idea by Gamespot. OMG!!! This is exciting. Seriously, there are some awesome BF players out there. And to see these people play a brand new game with some multiplayer action. I am salivating to see this. I can't wait.
One day after Battlefield Bad Company 2 was held hostage with the Battlefield 3 Beta as the ransom, EA and Dice released the date for the BF3 Beta!!! Here is a video of the hostage taker... http://youtu.be/1jrQn83FJxM
LOL All of you whiners wouldn't probably gather a team of 12 people, not to mention 32. They decided they want 12 v 12 - get over it.
come on guys we know the answer we all know what the answer is.. Gamespots too broke to afford 64 PC rigs to run the bf3 tournament the way it was intended, so they decided to dumb it down. WTF?? is the gamespot offices full of Macs?? GTFO!!!
FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU i dont live in California (nor under most circumstances would i want to)
Whoa! I wish I could go to this.. but I will be sure to sign up for the BF3 beta on Sept 29th, 12 days of non stop noob killing!
I actually won't be doing the beta. When I've enjoyed a series so much, like I enjoyed Battlefield, hunger wets the appetite :) Good thing they have the beta relatively early- they will need a good test on how the game reacts with massively populated servers
How is this tournament the 26th when the beta doesnt release till the 29th, and early access is the 27th?? EDIT: NM reread the article and answered my own question
@ More Thot Whats DUMB is not watching the video or reading the story and then commenting!! First of all its 48 people and second of all it 4 teams of 12.
nice offer - shame I'm a few thousand miles and an ocean away :P Having 48 players in the same room playing on the same server will have an awesome atmosphere.
a tournament already? that's dumb, all its going to be is a bunch of idiots running around not knowing the maps and sporadic shooting. Personally if they are going to hold a tournament for bf3 I think they should host it on PC since you can go 32v32 instead of 12v12. Will just seem boring to me.
@xedgorex if you were at all tech savvy, it does not take "at least a grand" to play a game or this game in fact.
@murekkep Spending at least a grand to play a game?? Are you insane?? Dont youhave a girlfriend?? I doubt it :)
At 530pm on a Monday. If I was still unemployed this would be awesome, but if I was still unemployed I would be more likely to be panhandling in SF than worrying about playing BF3. Have fun folks who get to go...I envy your freedom.
I still wonder why they are even doing a beta so late in the development. Oh, I get it, it's really an MP demo, just like we go for previous Bf games, including Bf2.
@murekkep Hurr durr consoles are for noobs durr hurr. Seriously, enough with the PC elitism ****, it gives PC players a bad name and it makes you look like a douche.
Just announced that the early Beta starts on September 27th and open Beta starts on September 29th. Rush on Metro Ops Map. And closes on October 10th.
hagbartaronsen are you kidding? San Francisco is amazing, beautiful weather, Parks, culture, great dining... Why wouldn't anyone want to go to San Francisco?
It should be played on the pc since console players can also plug in a controller and play, and they will probably lose to keyboard and mouse players but if it would be fair to both sides
@murekkep Yep, if you haven't noticed you will often see a lot of these people - G4, GS, etc. - by force of habit primarily often using gamepads instead of keyboard and mouse - sometimes even when the game plays better with keyboard and mouse. It will probably be easier for all sides to set up a console gig since that is the format they seem to be using for a lot of the trade show demos lately. I am sure that it also probably helps boost participation and interest in the game for the xbox and ps3 gamepadders.
first the Don't Ask Don't Tell rule is abolished and now we're having tourneys in San Francisco .... ? kidding kidding, but seriously, im not going to this. Feel free to come to the east coast ... ever
ya ya ya its the best game forever talks and every body shut up no no i m kidding huh but its the best game ever
Have the released the latest BF3 Multiplayer Beta for PC. I got invited to the Alpha the last weekend but was not able to check my E-mail that weekend but they said I was at the front of the Beta line. Anyone know when that is coming out?
yay! yet another thing gamespot does that excludes most of us in the uk and the rest of the world thanks GS you rock!
