Battlefield 3 beta 6x larger than Bad Company 2's

so freakin only days away !!! was trying to avoid military fps this year ,but even getting killed a few times in metro tunnel told me this is gonna be grand!!! mantling over fence and the graphics were unbelievable im thrilled so leaving cod although i will miss lone wolf , kinda like playing alone some times!!!! there is no way this can suck and if it does ill suck it for awhile!!!!!!!!

Beta was in my mind a teaser. A smack in the face. "Heres the game half@ss, enjoy it? Give me your money for even more epicness."

Gief already! I absolutely loved the beta. As long as you take the time to find a good server with very low latency the game was simply brilliant. Sure there was a few bugs but that's to be expected in a beta. If it was bug-free they wouldn't have a beta but a demo or a finished product on the streets.

64 players on a single map seems adequate since these maps are huge which is both an upside and downside. and beta sucked but it's just a beta..

Im concerned(apart from other problems).. 1. Glass in Beta, why does it took so long to crumble? 2. UMP45 was overpowered. 3. Bushes make campers absolutely in invincible Anyone know they fixed it? Thanks

I like the Beta its buggy and not as pretty as I expect but Im getting the mechanics and of course the disc will un-viel the jaw dropping effects ... I NEVER judge an upcoming game by its beta. I mean they're just so damn incomplete and restricted compared to the final release, its just too damn difficult to tell what it'll actually be like.

I played for an hour it was fun.

I hope all of you who have complaints about the beta have taken the time to post reasonable suggestions/gripes on the battlelog forums. Complaining about the game in Gamespot forums does nothing to help the final product.

Funny how beta was awesome (not what I played, only what I read) and now I read "it was only a beta".. I depreciate that EA likes to tease their customers, but since we already know that this is not going to be a Bad Company game (since the aim is rather to kill off the CoD series) there was no need to trick us with some distasteful.. beta coding. This thing left a very sour taste in my console. Also what was the big deal with the Medal of honor privileged access to a BF demo?

@Kazekage20 I don't think it will be our internet connections that should be worried since in the past PC players have enjoyed 64+ players. It's more like our PC's should be worried with the amount of stuff that will be happening on screen with that many people in a game with Frostbite 2 :P.

You guys are forgetting that the code in the beta was like six weeks old from where it was at at time of release. Six weeks is a fair bit in terms of coding time, so I'm not too worried, and neither should you guys.

God, I know it was a beta but the game is due out in a matter of weeks, not months. Either Dice is the most efficient developer when it comes to bug squashing or BF3 will be a buggy mess at launch.

with such garbage beta, u can only expect the final product to be worst. learn that from NFS, needless to say on this !

@mrtoilet I agree that the BETA is glitchy, not what people expected, etc but a lot of people are judging this book by its cover. I mean Magnus already explained the purpose of this BETA (to stress-test servers), yet people associate it waaaaaaaaaay too much with the actual game itself. I know its also DICE fault for hyping up the game so much that the beta really disappointed a lot of people (not fans, though). I know this game is going to be great and im sure DICE have something up their sleeve to win back the respect of the people they've lost from the BETA. (maybe a demo before the golden release :) )

Just wished it actually worked on my computer. That Battlelog thing still won't get me into a server. :|

caspian border is amazing! played it for hours last night and the last online shooter that i got caught up in for hours at a time was halo 3 lmao! I need some flying lessons though as the best i could accomplish was ramming a jet into a control point killing one guy XD. I do hope they fix the obvious bugs for launch as I noticed all kinds of flashing on my screen and framerate/texture issues when zooming in with a scoped weapon.

All the people who are cancelling their preorders are idiots. IT'S A BETA. This means players have the chance to try it out and see what the problems are so they can be fixed. The software used in the beta is months old. The graphics are toned down too.

@ telquinn Did you even read the article above? The beta does not represent the final game. No need to cancel your pre-order.

@Joe-the-big While I tend to agree with you, the fact is average Joe Blow gamer probably doesn't see the difference between beta and demo. All they see is something they can play, they try it, and then decide based on what they just played weather to buy the game or not. Companies put disclaimers on demos all the time stating "demo is not final version of game" blah, blah, blah. It's not a stretch to state EA and Dice lost some sales because of this beta, and all I'm saying is a small disclaimer might have prevented some from jumping ship.

There are so many things which they haven't enabled on the Beta. Naming a couple - Destruction 2.0 and vehicles. Even the Graphics are toned down for the Beta as they couldn't fit it in a decent sized download. Just wait for the Full Retail. It will be amazing.

Dont judge the full game with the Beta. The Beta that we are playing with is over 3 months old. Let the full game come out, they make your judgement on BF3.

Its garbage compared to bfbc2.. they ruined it totally, poor hit stats graphics and many obvious annoyances still to be fixed Cancelled my pre order.. :(

@CptRexKramer There shouldn't be any disclaimer because the point of every beta is to test out everything that's wrong in the game. People should know what beta means. If there weren't any bugs, they wouldn't be doing a beta anyway. People should seriously stop confusing a beta with a demo, it's very annoying and very ignorant.

Up to 64 players for the PC version = Joy!

"Stress test the servers" well with the amount of publicity they sent out surrounding it, it's more of a publicity stunt in my opinion. But I don't mind, the beta is amazing value for money regardless. Hell, I'll probably even buy it as a result.

I know it was just a beta but I cancelled my game after messing around on it for a week or so.

this is my first battlefield game and im officially a fan now. i like the more tactical online multiplayer. im also looking forward to the single player and co-op campaigns. the frostbyte 2 engine is completely insane. haha.

Yeah I played the BETA hoping to enjoy it more than the previous games but I didn't. Sure it's a BETA but the core gameplay elements are there. Just not a lot of fun. I am more interested in single player and hopefully this one will deliver. might just Red Box this game.

I shall have a go on this beta, I download it right now and play it. I'm always up for a Beta. Since this is a game I will eventually buy and add to my collection.

@Mondrath: so what is your point? You like to play glitchy beta's of an old build? Seriously, why put a beta of an older build when you have a new one on hand already?? Second, why give players a first bad impression with something that is inferior and older? Show them the new and fixed version...But no... That was my point.

The Medal of Honor beta wasn't this bad.

I've noticed they have already begun fixing the beta. i experienced a drastic difference playing last night. It wasn't nearly as buggy.

@Bloodwolf_19 We don't get anything special for playing the beta. The only special things we get are what is already included in our Limited Edition pre-order. Nothing carries over. DICE wants a level playing field on the first day.

So, for all the poeple who've preordered BF3 an are playing the beta till it comes out, ... we get anything special? carrying anything over from beta to full, or an achievement ... or anything? "just asking, some games do it. Either way im still psyched for full game." :)

You see, this is the problem when you make a late comment. I should have read some further down the page, as it seems all I've done is re-iterate what most seem to be saying. Oh well. ;)

You know, I think EA / Dice shot themselves in the foot with the beta. It seems a lot of people are shying away from the game after playing the beta due to all the bugs, glitches, etc.. It seems Mr. Troedsson's comments would have been better suited in some sort of disclaimer in the beta stating "that the main purpose of the Battlefield 3 beta is to stress-test the game's servers..... the beta's game code is "quite early" and "not representative of the final game." I would not be surprised in the least if EA / Dice lost a few gamers over this issue.

@Aletunda Don't base your opinion on graphics on a beta.....
