Bastion hitting iPad tomorrow

[UPDATE] Apple's New Zealand App Store listing indicates "reimagined" version of role-playing game hitting iPad 2 and new iPad Thursday; Supergiant Games confirms $5 game hitting August 30.
[UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, Supergiant Games confirmed Bastion for the iPad. In an update to the company's website, the developer said Bastion for the iPad will launch tomorrow, August 30, priced at $5. Supergiant Games' action role-playing game Bastion is headed to the iPad tomorrow, according to a listing on Apple's New Zealand App Store. The page indicates the game has been "reimagined" for the tablet and will be compatible only with the iPad 2 or the new iPad.
According to the listing, Bastion for the iPad will support GameCenter for achievements and leaderboards, but it doesn't appear the game boasts any additional features. It is listed at $6.49 New Zealand dollars, or about $5. As of press time, neither Warner Bros. nor Supergiant Games had responded to GameSpot's requests for comment.
Bastion is Supergiant Games' first project. It was released on Xbox Live during July 2011, with subsequent releases following on Steam, Mac App Store, and Google Chrome. For more on Bastion, check out GameSpot's review.

I picked it up when it was in the humble indie bundle for real cheap - no DRM and was pretty fun for while I played it. I might support this simply because I think better games need to get to the device and this would be one of them - if the controls don't suck.
Hopefully, Bastion will hit Android as well. It runs on Linux, and Android is a Linux variant, so my fingers are crossed. I own the DRM-free PC version of Bastion, via Gamersgate download, and it is fantastic.
1 Like Bastion was amazing. A bit ironic, how an article posted hours after this one is about Tomb Raider and 'creating emotions' while this game simply told a unique story in a unique way and the emotions that came from it were natural and real.
Yeah. While I'm no longer a console gamer, I do feel that EVERYONE should get to experience Bastion. The PC version has the installation packs to make it run on Windows, Mac and Linux. So PSN and Virtual Console releases shouldn't even be an issue.
That's great. I actually just planned to buy an iPad tomorrow, and this game might just be one of the first apps I'll buy with the $50 gift card for the students program. I never got a chance to play Bastion on XBLA, and it'll be cheaper on iPad it seems! Thanks for the update, I am definitely interested (even if there are no noteworthy features)
1 Like Cool, Bastion is going to have screen controls....:P I already own this on PC and 360, so I'm set, but the devs should enjoy the extra moolah this generates to start on a sequel or new IP.

2 Like Congrats, iUsers -- you're in for a treat. This was one of last year's best games. The music, tight controls, flexible weaponry, stellar writing, great voice-acting, and... Man, I can just keep going. It just keeps drawing you in deeper as you play. Great stuff. It is to isometric action games what Bastion was to platformers.
1 Like @Pyrosa Agreed, the only thing was the southern draw on the narrator's voice. Other than that, the game is great. Arguably the best (and very inspirational personally) video game soundtrack of last year. (PC wise)
I look forward to more games in this style, or similar in some ways.

3 Like THIS is how you do it! Square, take a good look at this marvellous game that will sell for FIVE dollars, not TWENTY!!! I will buy this in a heartbeat just to support the company because Bastion was my personal game of 2011!
Agreed! TWEwY and FF3 can be great on smartphones, but Square's asking price is ridiculous. Hell, I was gonna buy FF3 for Android but Square wants $15! Fuck that.
3 Like I welcome any game that doesn't charge microtransactions or gate progress through timers to mobile devices. As a bonus, this game just happens to be awesome already.
As an aside, Bastion was developed by former GameSpot editor Greg Kasavin under Supergiant Games. Enjoy the random fact!
5 Like The game is great. i still haven't finished it though. Very fun game that everyone should play. I wouldn't what to play it on an IPad though. There is a lot of action that goes on and precision aiming and striking is a must.
