I've heard the game is really good. But I know that the Steam version is going to work well. I'm confident in Google's Chrome browser and I use it as my main browser, but I'm hesitant to pay $15 for a game on a store that may or may not be around for very long. Maybe they should have launched with a discount or offered both the Steam and Google apps for the $15?
Supergiant Games launch indie action game on Chrome Web Store; Square Enix games coming soon.
Narrative-driven isometric action game Bastion kicked off this year's Xbox Live Summer of Arcade to a glowing critical reception. The debut effort from developer Supergiant Games, Bastion is again leading off a promotional push. This one is for the Google Chrome browser's new Native Client technology.
The Native Client version of Bastion launched via the Chrome Web Store yesterday for $15. Creative director of Supergiant Games Greg Kasavin said that this version is not compromised, uses the high-quality 1080p art found in the PC version, and runs as smoothly as the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
Supergiant isn't the only gaming company jumping on the Native Client bandwagon. Square Enix announced that it too will be bringing games to the Chrome Web Store. Mini Ninjas for Chrome will be the first Square Enix game to hit the browser, with an open beta this month and more games promised over the next year.
Google is destroying Windows right now and I'm LMAO. If people don't realize what this means, many apps and games can be ported into Chrome now which is Open Source mind you so it'll work on everything, not just Windows.
I just tried it, it actually works smoothly, if/when they can do this with larger, more demanding games it will change the playing field. Actual gaming (not crappy Facebook games) from your web browser on PC ? Google, i am impressed.
Greg Kasavin? 'Been a long time since I've heard from this fan-favorite GS editorial veteran. We had the same tastes in games, so I pretty much agreed with most of his reviews and editorials. Glad to hear from him again. I'll definitely check this out, at least.
I hope Square ports those games over to XBLA as well. Bastion is an awesome game. I still need to finish it. I hope they make a sequel for this game.
I thought Bastion was okay, but it wasn't amazing or anything. It was a small game and didn't have a lot of replay value or multiplayer content. I'm surprised it's getting this much attention.
i sticking with firefox because of the tracking chrome does, i only use google for my business, i know they track people with chrome, i will stick with steam.
Awesome game. Happy to see it become available to more customers. I still can't get the music out of my head.
