Just a heads up about our Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts review. We may not be able to have our review up by the time the game comes out next Tuesday. The only copy we currently have in our offices is installed on Xbox 360 debug hardware. We do not review games in this state (installed, as opposed to on disc) as they often offer a different experience from what you will find in a retail copy of the game. We apologize for our tardiness, but we feel it is important to only judge games in their final state.

UPDATE: I started playing Banjo for review this Monday (we got the game late last week, but I finished up my Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa review first). I think I'm about halfway through the adventure. I'm not going to make any grandiose proclamations about the quality at this point, but the building mechanics are really well done and I'm having a really good time creating the most ridiculous contraptions possible. I'll make sure to have a final analysis later this week. Thanks for being patient.

I finally posted the review yesterday. Sorry for keeping you waiting so long. Hope you guys enjoy the game as much as I did. It's really quite amazing. And if you haven't already tried it, make a vehicle with just a seat with a spring attached. You won't regret it.

smp13, the point of a game review is for it to be on time. It would be like a movie critic reviewing a movie a two weeks after it debuts and over half of it's projected audience has already seen it. GS isn't exactly helping people who are on the fence about this game by taking their time. And as we all know time =/= quality, just because a review took time doesn't mean it's "done properly". (see Too Human....ugh), and just because it's a quick review doesn't mean it's incomplete. Hell, quick reviews are usually fine....

smp13: They only just got the game. THEY'RE NOT TAKING THEIR TIME, THEY'RE WASTING IT. The guy only JUST started reviewing it.

Don't listen to all the prissy little whiners - If they want a quick, incomplete review, they can go elsewhere if they already have one up. I always do this, then look for a mopre complete on here (which unfortunately doesnt always eventuate). Take your time as you are, make sure its done properly, and it will be appreciated by those that are actually looking for the most out of their reviews. As long as it is thorough, in depth, and explains the score then I will be happy. Thanks.

This isn't very fair. The game should of been reviewed days ago..

DeathScape666: The problem is that the people were are complaing DO like gamespot. At least for me I've been a loyal user for years. You have to admit that things like this didn't happen very often if at all even a year ago. I don't think there is a good excuse when a game has been out for over a week and it is their job to have a review up for it.

Zalzargahoughan

The reason everyone is complaining is that on November 7th they said they "might" not have the review finished by the games release date...that was 12 days ago, and the game has now been out for over a week. I'm all for them spending a little extra time to get the review right but this is just ridiculous and unacceptable. I'm starting to wonder if they're even going to bother.

DeathScape666

Wow, I've never seen so many people whine and complain this much. You want them to rush the review, even if it's poorly written, just to see the score? I'd rather have them take their time and do a good job on it. Plus, there's plenty of other sites I can use that has a review up. Plus, I'm sure GameSpot isn't the final indicator for your decision to buy this game, anyway. Everyone who is complaining and saying GameSpot is failing these days: Please leave. We don't want you here, whining and complaining about something you can't judge. If you don't like GameSpot, good for you. You aren't cool for staying around the site whining, complaining, and being obnoxious, though.

I guess not having a retail copy was just a poor excuse , still if you cant get a copy after two weeks i can send one for you!!

A WEEK ISN'T LONG ENOUGH? SERIOUSLY? How about REVIEWING GAMES instead of just reviewing a select popular few? Anyone can look at COD5 and see that it'll be fine. I for one check this website to find NEW games. Ffs, I don't even care if it's a bad review, the gaming world needs to realize that BANJO ISN'T DEAD.

By the way, an update would be good GS. This is a great feature that should be utilized much more heavily. People get more frustrated when they do not know what is going on, but if you would use this section to keep everyone informed with small, frequent updates, you would find a higher satisfaction overall from your readers. It is human nature to accept delays easier if there is constant feedback. Any game that is released in the market and does not have a review, should have its own section with information posted at least every 48-72 hours to give a quick status update to the readers that are waiting. Better to be up front than to keep them strung out so long, that they just go somewhere else for good. That is my 2 cents anyways.

05RedGoat: Let me review Smackdown for you. It's the same damn game with 09 plasted on the cover. If you like men in tights parading around the ring, pinning each other to the ground and involved in storylines that would even make a soap opera embarrassed, then you will enjoy this game. Not to say I am the biggest Gamespot fan, but cmon, the market is flooded with games. I would much rather the attention be focused on the bigger titles, rather than the rehashed wrestling games.

*yawn* It'd be nice to see an update... to an update, ya'know? Ten days have passed and yet no review or word on how the review is coming along -- isn't that what this blog is for? Oh how far Gamespot has fell these past few years. Pity.

lol, it's usually very difficult to review all the games that come out during the autumn and winter seasons, just because there's so many of them! it must be a fun job, trying to get all the games done and reviewed with a seemingly small staff... take your time guys!

This blog is worthless, as is this website, Reviewing the garbage you have chose to review over SVR09 and B&K is a disgrace. You guys are a joke.

Smackdown Vs Raw 2009? You all ever gonna review it ? I meant the game was in stores almost a week ago? Funny how you all get paid to write reviews yet you still cant have them out when they should be. This website is slipping. You guys should pull your head out of your you know what.

I loved the demo and it's nice to see a classic, smooth running platformer coming out. Hopefully it gets a good review!

ahw darn! really liked Banjo Kazooie back on the 64, but if its not coming to Ps3 i cant pay it! Oh well you 360 owners lucked out this time and i hope the game is as great as the previous ones were. Enjoy it!

Lol its so true what people say: When companies keep the same game and make slight improvements everybody complains about it. When a company tries to make a change to the game like this one, still, everybody complains. Either way, sequels hurt companies sometimes.

I wanted a deep, fun, comical cartoonish platformer with personality, flare and OCD style collectibles. What we are getting is a shallow game with ultimately repetitive racing mini games and a marginally entertaining vehicle creation process. Its not even going to be the same game. They could very well change the name and reskin the characters and you wouldnt even know it was a banjo game. The Rare from the glory days is but a shadow of its former self.

This franchise has a high pedigree to live up to. Those original games were Amazing. I have high hopes but i know it won't match the original

Well I loved the original Banjo games and I tried the demo for this new one and just thought it was, well, rubbish... I know you can never judge a demo too harshly, but it was pants quite frankly *sigh*. They should do a Conker sequel

AlmightyMax
AlmightyMax

As long as you give it the nine-oh it deserves, I'm not bothered. :) I can't really understand the hate most people have for this game. The demo was really pretty fun in my opinion, and the creation element is really, really deep and a lot of fun. It doesn't move as fast as I'd like it to but that's a small price to pay, the rest of the game is just so good.

Cabose12

im just gonna say that this game is gonna suck, at least compared to old banjo kazooie games. It shouldn't be about vehicles, it should be about random fun platforming

I think the game looks terrible. The demo was absolutely garbage.

Thats okay, hopefully gametrailers will have one up soon, but how come gamespot has hardly ANY video footage of this game?

Fair enough guys. BTW great job with this review blog section - its a massive improvement than having a void of infromation between previews, reviews and release.
