Avengers game footage surfaces

a studio needs to take the time to treat the characters with respect, just like the recent batman games. that is never going to happen if the games are rushed out with movies.

Batman AA and AC is a comic-book-hero-game-adaption done right. Why Captain America and Thor games turned out so bland, beats me. Video game adaptions of movies are usually cheap anyways.

@sgthombre They've gotta start somewhere. Like I said, I would have agreed with you not too long ago, but I'm hopeful that the tides are turning, and I think those of us who love these characters are excited to see them in great games, as opposed to the horrible games they have been in.

@paulsifer42 For every Arkham Asylum, there are a dozen Thors and Iron Mans. Movie/comic games sucking is the rule, and the recent Batman games are the rare exception. As for Ultimate Alliance... fine, I forgot that one. But that's a grand total of 2 comic book games that don't suck. Hardly enough to turn back the tide of awful comic games.

The only Super Hero games I have ever played that didnt seem like there were poorly done or have weird controls have been Spiderman games... which is weird

Super hero games seem to be so hard to get right - it is really surprising that studios without much backing would ever undertake to make one.

Now that they are making one game that includes three characters from individually horrible games, will this game be 3 times better than the individual preceding games or three times worse? . I am going to have to go on record saying, 3 times worse.

Whoever decided years ago to make an Avengers movie is a total doofus. You can hardly fit the personality of Tony Stark into one movie by himself, how can you push in Captain America, Hulk, and Thor in with him? And Nick Fury as played by Samuel Jackson? There's not enough hours in the day to devote to each character in that movie to make it any good at all! Give it up!

@Kiodos Thanks for the tip, went to Youtube and was able to find it easily Not sure how big I would have been on a superhero game in first person. One of the things that made Arkham Asylum cool to me was being able to see Batman run through his opponents. First person robs you of that unless you put in finishers the way THQ seemed to be doing. Still that's not enough in my opinion. I don't want to see a superhero's hands floating on the screen and throwing punches or spitting energy blasts; I wanna see the Hulk rip apart things or Thor and his hammer demolish the environment and the Skrull in all their glory. Probably should take a page from Marvel Ultimate Alliance or X-Men: Legends and just polish up and tighten the gameplay.

This will suck so hard... Games from movies from comics...i mean, come on !! Movie games where bad since the days of Back to the Future 1. Not as bad as Uwe Boll movies, but still. I hope no one does a "Limbo" movie :)

i dunno...i saw the footage and was not very impressed. Not that I don't like the idea...its just that I have really big doubts about a successful FPS based on the avengers. Ok, that's not true, but the developers would have to cram A LOT of moves into each character (might i add, moves that are unique to each character) for me not to get bored and return to something a little more familiar.

Having X-Men like Skrulls would make this game independent from the movie.

It looks really awesome actually, I was surprised to see the XP pop up when the gameplay was first shown.

Three words......FINISH THIS GAME!

Its a solid mix of first and third person but I wish that they added more third person (Looks a lot better that way). I am very interested in this game and I hope it gets picked up, I just hope they dont butcher this promising game.

If this gets picked up, I could see this being the next Battlefront/2. Nobody thought those could work, but they did.

I thought it was going to be awful, but it actually looked kinda of cool.

Hopefully another developer picks it up and releases it. Too much work it seems into a potentially good product.

@sgthombre While I would have applauded your comment a few years ago, there really are some good comic book games and movie games coming out now. Batman Asylum was a great game, and Mavel Ultimate Alliance was pretty good. I'd say they're getting better, so it doesn't make me feel too bad that they're getting publicity.

I really don't get why there is this much coverage of this games. Comic book games AND movie games usually suck, so way to waste the calories to cover this?

not goina lie this looks really interesting.....i like how they are going about with first person....alllllllllll their games are third person...so this was a smart idea.

I actually hope this game gets released. I despise movie tie-in games simply because of the half-arsed, out to make a quick buck nature of them. I don't think I've ever sampled one from THQ so I don't know what theirs are like, but to see a developer turn one into a first-person (when usually it is demanded that we're able to see our heroes all the time) makes me wonder if THQ were actually taking this one seriously.

love the fps shooter idea, but the combat engine / depth needs to be better, and more interactive than it seems to look

looks good. i wish they would drop the "out-to-third-person" thing when you do some finishers. i HATE that in games, especially lately done very very badly by human revolution. if it first person, then ill stay in first person. if you can choose first person or third person, then let me chose, dont switch automatically because you think its "cooler". caue its not.

i dig the first person look to this game over something like the look of Marvel Ultimate Alliance and other similar games where its kind of a hybrid top-down and third person. this is much better. and this is definitely avengers..what else would it be? only drawback i see is the animations for the punches from all the characters seemed the same...the only difference were their special techniques/powers. cant wait to fly around as ironman though, i feel like this is going to be good. hopefully they don't limit too much to the movie. movie games suck.

maybe the first actually good superhero game aside from batman arkham asylum?? looks pretty fun, maybe some online implications as well.
