Baseball developed from Cricket. Cricket is being played in the British since 1600's!! On top of that Cricket is played on an International Level, has its own World Cup (March-April, Cricket World Cup 2007 in the Carrribean baby!!)
Cricket 07 bowls in at number one; Twilight Princess falls out of overall top 10.
Aussie gamers are obviously keen to emulate the Australian cricket team's routing of England in the recent Ashes series, with EA's Cricket 07 for the PS2 romping into number one position in the first game sales charts for 2007.
Cricket 07 knocked off WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 for the PS2 from the top spot, with the wrestling title slipping to fourth position in the sales charts for the week of January 1 to 7, according to data trackers GfK Australia. Sony's current-gen console had five representatives in the overall top 10; the Nintendo DS scored the next biggest haul with three entries.
Gears of War continued its strong run and was once again the sole Xbox 360 title in the overall top 10. The Nintendo Wii's only representative of recent weeks--The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess--slipped out of the top 10 this week.

Yeah i know what you all mean about Zelda. Well cant be helped well i understand Gears of War, Guitar Hero II, Cricket 07, and maybe NFS but come on, Crash Boom Bang!!! I thought that crashed and burned years ago? Well anyway there is still next month to see that best
hootie017 its cricket, who cares? its a bastardized form of baseball............... Its the other way around baseball is the bastardisation of cricket
I didn't even know a Cricket game existed. Only in the U.K. I guess. I'm shocked that Zelda isn't in the top 10 though. I know the Wii is scarce in the U.K. as it is everywhere else, but come on. Zelda should have easily beat out SingStar and Nintendogs.
Australia though has the most horrible Gaming charts in the world, for like 6 months Buzz the quiz game was in the top 10 and look, Crash is selling the most for DS ... wtf. I completely agree, makes it kind of embarassing being an Australian gamer. I'm quite shocked Twilight Princess has totally dropped out of the top 10 though.
Whhy does ea dominate even though they bring to the market games that r full of bugs or more dissapointing than the last(nfs carbon,NBA LIVE 07,fifa 07 etc)?
( In a reggae voice ) We dont like cricket, oh no. We love it !!! hootie017 baseball can't even compare to cricket. Seriously, watch some cable dude, its the best sport in the world an I dont just say that because we are the best in the world at it, (but it helps). I know our charts always show alot of the party type games. I've never been into them. I guess alot of Aussie gamers are casual and there are just so many playstations. I mean, who doesn't have a playstation 2 nowdays. Its almost like saying you dont have a TV or a microwave. I will say one thing, I recently bought Guitar Heros 2 for my nephew. Man, its so much fun. I never would have though til I played it and actually started to feel like I was making the music. Without even meaning to, you can get carried away and start jumping around like a duck on a hotplate. Too cool. Shame you can import tracks but the song are really good too. Gunners, Rage, Nivarna, even bloody Black Sabbath WAR PIGS !!! Did you kids know before Ozzie Osborn was a TV star he used to be in a band? ;)
Hey Nemesis23345, There is nothing wrong with certain games outselling others there. Just because they buy different games more so than we do doesn't mean you can just bash them.
yes cricket is a great game and 07 is apparently a big improvement over the craptastic cricket 05, and if it even comes remotely close to recapturing the brilliance of cricket, then it should be on top.
Very few Australian are going to pay $1000 for a PS3, we are cheap bastards, the PS3 will flop here like it has everywhere else.
Cricket 2007 is a brilliant game. The sport deserves games along the lines of Baseball does. Go Aussie game charts! lol.
Australia though has the most horrible Gaming charts in the world, for like 6 months Buzz the quiz game was in the top 10 and look, Crash is selling the most for DS ... wtf. I haven't seen the charts from other countries, but i would have to agree. Its just lame seeing very generic franchises such as Crash, and those damn party games like Singstar,Buzz and Guitar Hero dominate. That Sims 2 expansion has been on the charts for how long? Same with nintendo dogs Hell even most of the Individual console charts consist of 90% Crap. People still buy pokemon games, who are the idiots who are actually buying all these mediocre sims expansions? Sure the original sims games are good, but a vast majority of the expansions released are mediocre at best 4. Guitar Hero II bundle 5. SingStar Rocks! bundle 6. Buzz! Junior Jungle Party bundle 7. Australian Idol Sing 10. Buzz! The Sports Quiz bundle ... oh boy...
The reason Wii stuff is'nt on the list is simply because there is no Wii stuff anywhere for a few more days, I can not find anything for Wii in stock except some stupid novelty things. Australia though has the most horrible Gaming charts in the world, for like 6 months Buzz the quiz game was in the top 10 and look, Crash is selling the most for DS ... wtf. Btw, Cricket is'nt a bastard version of baseball, Cricket is actually older than baseball, and was the US national sport until the early 1900's, and Wii Cricket game would be pwnage, but oh well. in 2007 Sony will win the console war here, not with PS3, but PS2 with stupid sequels too buzz and singstar, Australia is a disgrace too gaming.
the ps2 is still leading bcuz no one really wants to buy a 360 for $700 with $110 games or a wii thats $400 with $90 games when they could buy a ps2 for $180 and games like $60 and the ps3 wont do any beta cuz it will b $999(even tho aus seems to like sony more), i think aus is just a little behind with new tech, like i saw the frist bluray player for over $1000 and there was only 4 BR movies for sale and they were $50. maybe in a year when more ppl own HD tvs that the 360 ps3 and wii will b in the charts and as for cricket 07 is a good game a lot beta then crap baseball(boring) but im waiting for ricky 07 for the 360 : )
I must question the sanity of some of my patriots, Sims 2 Pets, how long has that mediocre expansion been on the charts, and theres still people who need Nintendogs? And as for Guitar Hero and Singstar Rocks, well, better to say nothing. The video game industry is becoming kind of like the Music industry, with shoddy 'mainstream' games and most of the suck. The only games with any credibility on that list are Gears of War and New Super Mario Bros. Carbon and Cricket 07 are OKAY, but thats it.
its funny how Sony slashed prices on all the singstar + buzz stufff etc. some people are actually buying it now !!! im guessing PS3 will obviosly have a slow start........but where is 360 ??? been out for a while and Gears has to steer the ship for them...
the chances of a ps3 title making it on this chart this year is nil. the 360 struggles to make an appearence on this list and so is the Wii. Australians are too busy with their ps2s. Also, i heard that this chart does [u][i]
Love to see how the PS3 does when it comes out with those numbers. This is further proof to that Sony bashing noob that critised my judgment on how well the PS3 will do in Australia, read it and weep, we love sony.
