Aussie emulation mash-up - Nov. 25

By James Kozanecki

Unless you're into trivia games, there's not a lot in digital downloads this week.

The past few weeks haven't seen much action on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network Store, with this week being no different. Unless you're a fan of trivia, you'll probably want to skip over the Games channel on your Xbox 360 this week because the only new game to be released was Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Special Edition. While the trivia-centric game also arrived on the PlayStation Network Store, it was at least accompanied by a few other games, including Daytona USA. Sega's arcade racer has undergone a few visual upgrades and now boasts an online component for competitive multiplayer.

The PlayStation Network Store also saw several PlayStation 3 games receive digital ports, with the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and MotorStorm Apocalypse being added to the library.

Things are a little bit sunnier over on Nintendo's pastures, with Metroid II: Return of Samus getting a 3D makeover for the 3DS Virtual Console. While the sequel wasn't as well received by the critics as the first Metroid game, Metroid II: Return of Samus offered people on the go a taste of the popular franchise. Over on the Wii, light-gun game Big Town Shoot Out made its belated Aussie release. Like any arcade shooter, you'll be provided with an array of baddies to blast away.

Metroid II is not remade in 3D, it is the original Game Boy version ported to the 3DS.

$50 for Modern Warfare? Lolwut? That game's like $20 or so at stores. No way that extra money is worth it being on your hardrive/driving to the store.
