Aussie A-League featured in FIFA 08
Next EA Sports football title to include Australia's A-League; Melbourne Victory's Archie Thompson named local "ambassador."
EA Sports' FIFA series has long featured a wealth of real-world football leagues, but Australia's comparatively small local competition has missed out on the digital treatment thus far. But the country's burgeoning A-League must have caught EA's interest in recent times, given the confirmation today that the A-League will be one of the official playable competitions in the upcoming FIFA 08.
In addition, Melbourne Victory striker Archie Thompson has been named the game's official "ambassador" in Australia and New Zealand. While Thompson won't actually appear on the cover of FIFA 08, he will be a spokesperson for the game and will be used in other EA promotions.
"I know that plenty of the boys at Melbourne Victory enjoy playing video games, so it’s fantastic that we can now play as our favourite Hyundai A-League club either in a league or against other international clubs," Thompson said in a press release.
FIFA 08 will be released on the PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, and Wii in September this year.
