AU Shippin' Out Sept 26-30: FIFA Soccer 12
EA Sports sends its latest football game onto the retail field.
Whether you call it soccer or football, it's time for EA Sports to unleash its annual game based on the world's most popular sport. While FIFA Soccer 12 brings along all of the usual tweaks and changes that you'd expect from an annual sports title, the big focus this year is on the impacts and tackles. The new physics engine tracks the momentum of the players and the ball with greatly increased accuracy, allowing for more realistic collisions. What this also means is that injuries will become more realistic, and there's now a bigger focus on managing your injured players.
This week also sees an interesting juxtaposition in Aussie game releases. On the one hand you've got the behemoth that is the FIFA franchise, and on the other you've got the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus rereleases from Sony for the PlayStation 3. While both games scored quite well at the time, good reviews didn't equal stellar sales, and Sony hopes to rectify this with the new bundle. Both games have been remastered for 3D high-definition screens, and they now include trophy support for those who like to brag about their gaming achievements. If you're looking forward to The Last Guardian and are a little unsure about what to expect, The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection is a great way to check out the game's origins.
Other notable game releases this week include Child of Eden on the PlayStation 3 and the PC version of Driver: San Francisco.
