AU Shippin' Out October 20-24: Fable II
Can Peter Molyneux live up to his promises? Find out this Thursday!
Ever since Shane Kim dropped the bomb in 2005, Fable II has been on the lips of salivating Xbox 360 owners. Set 500 years after the original game, Fable II drops you back into Albion starting off as a child. Like in the original, you're given a series of choices that will dictate if your character is good or bad as he or she grows up. Some of the new activities in the game include getting married and starting a family. Others will have you getting a job and earning money. Fable II is due out on Thursday.
Ubisoft is taking gamers to hunt for the Jackal this week in Africa with Far Cry 2. Set in an unknown African nation, you assume the role of one of eight characters who are hunting an unscrupulous warlord called the Jackal. If you're expecting feral abilities to return, you better not hold your breath, because Far Cry 2 has nothing to do with the original except for the name. On the community side of things, Far Cry 2 features a comprehensive map maker that allows users to share their maps online on their respective platform, as well as online competitive multiplayer. Far Cry 2 is out on the 23rd of this month for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
With Silent Hill: Homecoming being delayed indefinitely in Australia thanks to a big fat "refused classification" sticker being slapped on it, Dead Space is left to pick up the reins of bloodthirsty survival horror fans. When a massive mining ship drops off the radar, Isaac Clarke (the game's protagonist) and his crew are dispatched to investigate and repair the mining ship's communication equipment. It quickly becomes obvious that all is not right, and that the crew of the mining ship have turned into monsters. On top of the extreme gore, Deep Space features a mechanic called strategic dismemberment, which forces the player to remove an enemy's limbs to kill them, as opposed to going for headshots. Dead Space is out later this week.
