AU Shippin' Out May 23-27: Dirt 3
Kick up gravel and burn some rubber in the latest rally game from Codemasters.
Codemasters is heading back to the rally track this week with the release of Dirt 3. Swapping out Colin McRae for Ken Block, Codemasters has introduced a variety of new features that cater to both hardcore racing fans and more casual players. For the more dedicated fans, there's a setting that locks the camera to the cockpit and turns off all of the assists, making for a more authentic rally experience. If you're looking for a more arcade-y feel, then there's also the new gymkhana mode that lets drivers burn rubber and accumulate points by pulling off tricks.
Also being released this week is Dead or Alive: Dimensions for the Nintendo 3DS. Featuring 10 different modes and 25 fighters, this release marks the long-running franchise's handheld debut. Like Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Dead or Alive: Dimensions runs at 60 frames per second in 2D, but it cuts down to 30 frames per second when played in full 3D. Also similar to Capcom's handheld fighter is the control scheme, allowing players to pull off advanced moves by just tapping the touch screen.
