Atlus unveils God Mode
Catherine developer reveals a new co-op third-person shooter; God Mode to feature special abilities, upgradeable weapons, character and equipment customization.
Atlus, the company behind 2011's puzzle platforming adventure Catherine and the Persona series, has unveiled a new project titled God Mode.
The downloadable third-person shooter will be published by Atlas and developed by Old School Games.
Described as an "arcade-style four-player co-op shooter" on the game's official website, God Mode follows a descendant of an ancient Greek god whose bloodline has been banished from Mount Olympus. To avoid an afterlife of eternal damnation, players must survive The Maze of Hades against an army of undead.
The shooter will feature RPG elements including customizable characters, upgradeable weapons, and special abilities.
"God Mode combines non-linear gameplay, fast and frantic shooting, hordes of on-screen enemies, and stunning visuals," Atlus revealed on God Mode's website.
"The game hosts a single-player mode, as well as online and offline (via LAN) co-op play with 1-4 players. In addition to accessing more than 11 different weapons for battle, players are also equipped with a special ability fueled by Rage, which is gathered by amassing kills. Players can choose from several different powers ranging from offensive, to defensive, to support; all of which can be upgraded."
God Mode will be released on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 in early 2013.
