Ubisoft's Facebook page urges gamers to "spread the word to reveal the next Assassin's Creed game"--and may have prematurely revealed its title.
Given that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood shipped 6.5 million copies, it should come as little surprise that Ubisoft has already confirmed it is cooking up another installment in the series. The question is, why is the company being so cagey about promoting it?
That issue arose this afternoon, when the Assassin's Creed Facebook page began teasing a new entry in the series. Earlier in the day, the page urged gamers to "spread the word to reveal the next Assassin's Creed game" with a Flash application that allows for e-mail, Twitter, and Facebook reposting. The application then went down, then went back up again, and was then pulled--although it is still running solo.
The site also featured a teaser video that eager fans quickly uploaded to YouTube. It shows nothing in the way of gameplay, merely depicting some murky visuals with what appears to be some text in Arabic. Commenters translated the text as saying "Alta´r Ibn-La'Ahad," or "Altair, son of no one"--indicating the game could feature the original Assassin's Creed hero as its protagonist.
Additionally, an eagle-eyed NeoGAF poster did some digging and found a logo for "Assassin's Creed: Revelations." When asked about the validity of the title, Ubisoft declined comment.
mykeday ur right. this is another ezio spinoff. assassins creed III is still establishing a working title, gamespot already has a page for that game. and hopefully were NOT playing ezio :D
I'm sure this is not Assassins Creed 3, as i can imagine a new character taking on that roll, where as this will be more based off of two and brotherhood. I think the best time period and place for the next chapter is England during the Dissolution of the monastries by Henry VIII (1509-47) mostly due to the religious undertone of the games, this was a point in history where the catholic church lost a lot of it's power, and i think will fit in with the plot quite well.
@isshiah dude, desmond is the main character after all. desmond controlled ezio and altair THROUGH animus. and there will be a time, when we will playing desmond only to crush down the templar order
we know now that ezio will travel to the middle east in this game. i like the character, but i think i'd rather they just moved on to another time period and stopped teasing us with desmonds story.
http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Assassin's_Creed:_Revelations there is info about it
i hated Altair's personality, he's so wooden and such a mindless puppet, and there's like nothing in his past that made me feel anything whatsoever for him. though you can blame his past just on story design. he only started getting interesting in the last chapter of the game. i agree that AC2 was lightyears ahead of 1 in pretty much every way. AC2 gameplay wasn't any less repetitive though, it just had more of it to do. maybe Altair will actually be cool in Revelations though AC is probably my favorite game series the past few years even with all it's faults. there's so much quirks in gameplay they need to fix, I can see how some say the series is over rated. at least prove everyone wrong with the final game!!
MAN! Ezio again?!? I like the guy but i think its time to move on. I was hoping that the next game would be a fresh setting but im happy that its coming out soon.
I think that AC 3 (revelations) will take place in Turkey. I hope it will take place in the year the Turkish conquer Bulgaria and the other countries on the Balkan peninsula. (sorry for my English ,but I am not a native and I'm still learning)
Altair's personality is far better than ezio. He is also much wiser than ezio. But ezio's skilled and gadets are more advanced. In the end, Altair description fits better of a perfect assassin!
The double-headed eagle is the coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire as well as the Freemasons. So it looks good to me so far, spin off or not.
My personal opinion, AC1 was not all that great. I mean it was fun but it got repetitive and way to easy. AC2 was just amazing. Combat system improved dramatically and the story line was really in depth. AC2 Brotherhood, lacked story line but I enjoyed the fact that the combat system went more for offensive. Hacking and slashing had a better flow when you just feel like being walking the streets like a boss in the game. I hope they keep that combat system from AC brotherhood of course a good storyline like AC2. Brotherhood's story was like they just came up with it in 2 hours.
Aye.Assah'sinoh!! ..not again. FIX THE COMBAT SYSTEM...will ya. LMAo..I love the patented EZIO "HiYah!" One-Leg-Kick to push off the bad guyz.
Well at least we'll be rid of some old geezer telling you what to do ;) I hope it doesn't become a second bloodlines though :P
@ps3mastermatty lol.. the new combat system was great and even the full synchronization was awesome, i enjoy doing all those challenges to get full sync..... the only things i hate at brotherhood was the shops quest (wtf this isn't a mmorpg to stay and farm for rare items), the auto lock camera in the lairs (this is what i hate in ac 2 to in tombs wtf i can figure myself were i have to go next.. you don't need to block my camera view angels and change my direction controls.. at least for pc version i didn't play on xbox or ps3 so i don't know if in those version the camera lock apply) and the fact that it was to short :(( compare to ac1 and ac 2
as long as they take the crappy combat system and the stupid full synchronization stuff out I'll be fine with it brotherhood kind of killed ac a bit for me with that
Ubisoft said that they will not name their games with numbers (ex AC 3) if it does not feature a totally new character. I really loved the philosophical side of AC 1 and Altair, it's very important for the main character to have the eye of the tiger but NOT the IQ of a lima bean, and Ubisoft haven't failed us yet there.
@JohnisGodd not going to bother explaining whay i posted that cuz if you understod what i ment behaind typing it you wouldnt og botherd posting this right.
Shoot idc as long as it can be great like to altair or ezio, imma fan of the series so lets see when we recieve the exact info- yea feel me
@gamingfrendly Thanks. That only has absolutely nothing to do with the article at all. You just won the irrelevant information award!
The Game is gonna take place in Turkey , check this http://www.facebook.com/assassinscreed?sk=app_150031305061905 , this is Ayasofya mosque , ?stanbul !! of course no one knows if the entire game will take place there or not !
for what its worth, the arabic is written backward. if its read left to right (like english) it reads 'altair son of no one', but if it's read like arabic is supposed to be read, right to left, it is literally disconnected gibberish, nothing more than a bunch of disconnected letters. doesn't seem like a mistake UBI would make to me, but who knows.
omg ubisoft stop ****ing around, just focus on doing AC3 for goodness sakes. yes i do like them going back to altair since he is the best assassin (yet), but that was like 2 games ago, lets get something new and fresh. ACB sucked btw, the online was easily flawed, didnt have the depth AC2 had, and the story..haha dont get me started...Ubisoft needs to get their **** straight and stop making off-branches(aka brotherhood) like COD (all their treyarch installments) has done.
I always suspected that they would go back to Altair since I read the codex pages in AC2. Altair invented all those gadgets you get to use as Ezio, I reckon the writers did that so they could take us back to the crusades later without depriving us of smoke bombs, poison, dual hidden blades etc.
All right then, another Altair based Assassin's Creed game. It's about time. I just hope that the game itself will retain all of the features that AC2 and Brotherhood had introduced. Especially the improved combat system.
The more people that like and share the message on facebook the more gets revealed. So AC fans pls go share the news :D
Another Altair game would be great. Proof they listen to the fans. I still like the female assassin in ancient Egypt rumors, though.
As long as it comes out for PC I'm fine. Even though I have a 360 I want it on PC. I have no doubt it will be. Just don't get why gamespot doesnt have a PC lisitng.
@gamingfrendly because they are ugly .... just kidding I don't know why you put accent on a char nationality.... i think that dosen't matter that much.. his personality and complexion is what really matter.. i don't think a player will hate or like a char just because his asian or african or any other nationality (if they do that then they are just dumb racists)
