Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag to get exclusive PS4 features

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be getting exclusive features for the PlayStation 4, Ubisoft has announced.
Speaking to GameSpot at the game's reveal event in London, creative director Jean Guesdon said that the PlayStation 4 version of the game would be essentially "the same game" as its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 counterparts, "but we will also use some other features that we will talk more about later during the year."
A Ubisoft representative confirmed that the studio is looking into utilising the PlayStation 4's new controller, which features a touch pad on the front.
Ubisoft has already revealed that the PlayStation 3 version of Assassin's Creed IV will contain 60 minutes of exclusive content. This content will also be made available for the PlayStation 4 version.
Sony officially unveiled the PlayStation 4 in February, and Microsoft is rumoured to be announcing the Xbox 720 in April. Ubisoft has said Assassin's Creed IV will be coming to "next-generation platforms."
Even without the additional features, Guesdon says the PlayStation 4 version of the game will be the best version to play. "You can imagine that we will use [the PlayStation 4's] full capacity and the potential of the console. Just graphically speaking it will be really enhanced. Just think about the lighting, the physics, the ocean simulation that will be experienced."
Summing up the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag as "better looking, better simulation, and some more features."
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is set across the Carribean in 1715 and stars a new protagonist, British privateer-turned-pirate Edward Kenway. Speaking about the team's decision to switch to a new protagonist, Guesdon said "Edward almost came naturally. We just wanted that brash young rebel that would totally fit into the pirate era."
When asked if Edward Kenway was an attempt to recreate fan-favourite character Ezio Auditore, Guesdon said "I think we all liked Ezio. But we're not trying to redo Ezio, right. We're doing Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. This is not AC2, this is not Brotherhood."

Ps4, Kill Zone, Gt6, Last Of Us, Watch Dogs, Infamous , MGS, Deep Down and Most Definitely the AC4 are all day one buys for me. Not missing out! But one thing im most excited obout is the OCULUS RIFT VR. Check it out if you dont know what it is, youre going to be amazed just by watching the videos...
After playing every AC game on both PS3, PSP & Vita, I have to honestly say the thought of this game just leaves me cold. AC3 has bearly settled and Ubisoft are agressively ramming this down our throats - just makes me feel its not about the Game, the gamer nor the Franchise but ALL about milking that cow for all its worth!
Here's what I wish would happen. I wish PS4 or Xbox 720 would incorporate a feature where you can plug a keyboard and mouse into the console.
This would allow for users to play in that fashion and allow for some awesome MMORPGS to come to consoles that are now only exclusive to the PC.
Of course you could just buy a gaming PC, but the though of paying for a capable console (presumably cheaper) without having to upgrade hardware every year or so (like the PC) would be very nice indeed.
Keyboard and mouse combination just rocks.
Cool. Didn't know that. Yeah, that shows how much PS3 I've played in the past. I wish Microsoft would update their Xbox to incorpoate a keyboard and mouse combination.
having extra features over others makes me feels like , it has been made easy for you & it totally ruins the competitiveness..........though we dont know what the extra features will be......in all "you dont have to do all this ubi".

Don't get me wrong i love assassins creed... i did till 3 anyway, as 3 was a bit of a disappointment for me.
But this agressive marketing is really giving me a bitter taste, i'm a pc / xbox player, and i will remain to be so. Why should we be denied aspects of a game?

@Albaficas what this has to do with my comment O.o, nothing can beat PC graphics, everyone knows, it has nothing to do if game sells more on consoles or PCs, if you have read my comment, then you would know what its about.
@Albaficas @forsites I own every console, but if a game is multiplatform release, I prefer it on the PC so I can play it at 5760x1200 on three surround monitors.
In all honesty I only saw the trailer from a random advert while watching Tv and thought it looked korny. Then thought, wtf is an advert for a game being released on national tv when it's not out till Nov... Suck my ball's Ubisoft.

I hate this timed exclusive nonsense, i'm a PS3 owner myself and plan on getting a PS4, but it never feels satisfying to get any bonus content from BF3 or Assassin's Creed, amongst others, it just feels shady.. same thing for when the COD map packs come out a month early on Xbox (not that i would ever waste my money on that sham anyways), I don't think it makes anyone actually want to buy an Xbox, it's just bull that people with lots of money are pulling. Where have developers and publishers' integrity gone?
I'm a PS3 owner (my only console) and plan on purchasing a PS4, but this is total BS. This exclusive content and timed DLC nonsense is ridiculous.

I'm pretty sick of seeing nothing but AC4 news. Report on something worth a damn, you could of just as well said "New AC4 payed to have better exclusives than Xbox720. Better graphics painted on since MS didn't pay up. Buy PS4 copy because we took out an hours worth of animation/voices for 720."

They used similar statements for very AC games. Every time using the full potential of the consoles, but sill so many glitches. I rem the last chase in AC3 (totally pissed me off). I love the series and like every fan I want more but it comes down to gamemplay.

I also hope you writers know there were quite a few other games coming to the PS4 that we know very little about while we have played Assassin's Creed for the last 4 years. There must only be info on AC so far.
1 Like 4 AC4 articles in a row. Jesus, you would think this a brand new IP or a game that hasn't had a sequel in 4 or 5 years. It's not just here, but all over the place. I swear the last Assassin's Creed game came out about 3 to 4 months ago. Never would have guessed it. Must be a slow news month. Doesn't matter if it's coming to the PS4, it will be the same game, just a little better.

1 Like @grove12345 Like most companies, they would have the new XBox dev kit and PS4 dev kit for years already and as they get updated they get sent updated dev kits. They know what both systems will be capable of doing. Usually when they have extra content on one system it's because they were paid for it. Like how MS pays Activision a LOT of money for the month head start on the COD maps.

1 Like Getting real fed up with all this exclusive content. Even if it's available to me on my console I still feel dirty about it. Don't developers take any pride in their work anymore, and tell Sony/Xbox to take a walk when asked to cripple their game for money. I want to say that it's probably a decision made above the actual designers pay grade. Made by number crunchers with an eye on the bottom line, but still doesn't it feel shady to anyone else.
Also a launch title also available on last gen consoles....they want to tell me it's gonna be better on PS4....like anyone is gonna fall for that.
@Zzombielemur I've said this before, I'll say it again. the benedict Arnold missions exclusive to PS3 were f#ckin shit, non PS3 players missed out n nothing.
