As for DLC, it is definitely here to stay. The best way to keep the developers honest is to support the quality DLC and skip the DLC that is a clear rip off. People that spend 800 points on a costume pack or buy these packs that open up the entire game right out of the package....well, your not only getting ripped off but your also sending a very clear message to the developers, that they can make significantly more money by releasing this kind of content as DLC. If people stopped buying it, I guarantee things would change for the better. Unfortunately, it appears that a lot of people are buying it so thing may get worse before they get better.
I for one am an extremely patient gamer. Yes, there are certain games that I have to buy right away but they are few and far between. If a game has a lot of DLC, I just wait for the game of the year edition to come out and buy it when it goes on sale for 20 bucks. Yes, gaming can be extremely expensive if you play a lot of games and buy games when they first come out. On the other hand, if your patient and a smart shopper....well, gaming has never been cheaper than it is today. I have purchased well over 300 games this generation and most were purchased for 15-20 dollars. I have been gaming since the Atari 2600, Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 days and in regards to pricing, I have spent less per game this generation than I have any other.
