Asia Shippin' Out July 31-August 6: Bleach: Soul Resurreccion
Anime-licensed slashing, top-down pirating, and shadow planets are this week's highlights.
With Atlus' adventure game being the star of last week's release schedule, things are turned down a notch this week. Just before Deus Ex: Human Revolution leading the charge of high-profile titles in the next few weeks, gamers will have to make do with a few low-key releases.
First up is the latest video game adaptation of the manga/anime hit Bleach called Bleach: Soul Resurreccion. The action game pits players as series protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki as they relive key moments in the story's Arrancar and Hueco Mundo arc. The title also features dual language (English and Japanese voices), customization options via the soul orb system, and cel-shaded graphics. For more coverage of the game, check out GameSpot's recent preview.
Next is a PC exclusive Pirates of Black Cove. This real-time strategy/role-playing game hybrid pits gamers into the shoes of one of the pirate leaders to amass a small pirate army for real-time-strategy-style missions and pilot a small ship to bombard the Seven Seas. Players can expect to invest in eight to 10 hours of single-player campaign action. The hybrid will be out tomorrow on Asian shelves.
The PlayStation 3 version of Limbo makes its debut this week. Last year's moody story-driven platformer garnered critical acclaim when it was released last year on XBLA as a previous Xbox Live Summer of Arcade promotion.
Speaking of which, last but not least is the third game in this year's promotion, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. The game is billed as an "adventure-exploration-shooter" where players control a spaceship to collect various tools in an alien world with different elemental themes. The game will be available for purchase on XBLA this Wednesday.
