Armored Core V flies off in October
Closed beta of mech-piloting action game to start before release month.
The Armored Core series is still going strong, thanks to its cult following outside of Japan. The fifth game has been announced by developers From Software in the latest issue of Famitsu and will be released this October in Japan for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In addition, the developers said that they will launch a closed beta of the game just before its release month. No specific date is set for the launch of the closed beta.
Armored Core V lets gamers fight against one another using giant customizable mechs called Armored Core units. Players can also fight over in-game territory online, whether it is either to attack the opposing forces or defend them. As far as control goes, gamers get to use new boost options on their Armored Core units, such as the high boost, which amplifies the short dash a mech has, and the glide boost, which gives mechs the ability to dash in all directions.
Namco Bandai will publish the North American version of the game and will release it in early 2012.
