Actor's online resume indicates Rocksteady Studios may have taken over development of new installment in IO's hired assassin franchise.
As far back as September 2007, Eidos has indicated that a new installment in IO Interactive's long-running Hitman franchise is in development. In the intervening years, Eidos has undergone significant upheaval, laying off some 25 percent of its staff in advance of being bought by Japanese publisher Square Enix. In that time, neither the publisher nor IO, its assumed developer, has said anything of the game.
And while the publisher remains mum on the project, new information on Hitman 5 appears to have surfaced today courtesy of the online resume of British actor Mark Sloan. As spotted by Joystiq, Sloan completed a round of motion capture for Hitman 5 in 2008.
Notably, Sloan lists Batman: Arkham Asylum outfit Rocksteady Studios as the game's developer, not franchise creator IO. It is unclear whether Rocksteady is solely handling development of the title or whether it is collaborating with IO. Square Enix had not responded to requests for comment on the resume listing as of press time.
Of IO's known projects, the Danish studio is working on Mini Ninjas, a new intellectual property for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, and PC. Eidos has also filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, indicating that IO may be at work on a sequel to the 2007 co-op-heavy shooter.

I hope this game get developed cause I have played all of the hit man games except for hitman 1 cause it was on the pc and I did not have one at the time, but I enjoyed the series non-the-less, and I agree with that multiplayer aspect of having to compete on who can get the kill first that would be awsome.
crap. honestly, if this is anything like kingdom hearts, 47's violence will be toned down to the maturity level of a sixth grade boy whose head explodes at the sound of certain body parts that im probably not allowed to mention this is a bad idea, i want another intricate while devilishly devious game square enix! I grew up with these games
one of the best games. For HM 5 could you do a co op on this. or better yet a mulit where you compete to get the HIT
Hitman + HL ... the only games that will make you forget that you have to eat / smoke / drink / do some stuff w/ your gf ... I finished Blood Money at hardest level with all 0% notoriety ... I just can't wait for the next Hitman ... reading about this new game just makes me want to play Silent Assassin + Blood Money + Contracts all over again ... Please make this game "Proper" focus on gameplay more ... AI Actions must be more smart, some new stuff ... add some reality i.e [limping when you are shot] much like the Getaway ... and some stuff from the movie Jackal like the stationary gun and a long range sniping mission like CoD4:MW where you have to assassinate Imran Zakhaev ... mix all those stuff together to make an amazing game please :D
Hitman is my alltime favourite game franchise, Contracts being my favourite because of the incredible feel in each level being all unique and very dark which suited 47 well and also the soundtrack in every Hitman game again Contracts being the best in my opinion because it sets the feel of the level just right. I hope IO-Interactive just start working on it after Kane & Lynch 2 comes out instead of it going to Rocksteady(I loved Arkham Asylum but I don't think it'll feel like a hitman game as much and Jesper Kyd needs to compose the music =)
Hitman always brings memories to me. What really distinguish it is the moody and dark levels. The soundtracks is one of the eeriest in video games too.
i hope it has alot of detail in gameplay to like leaving your dna and fingerprints behind or using someones dna and fingerprints to make it look like suicide lol, they need to make it a bit more difficult to blood money was too easy because there were to many places too hide bodies.
all i can say is i'm stoked as hell to get another installment in the hitman saga. i just hope this won't turn into another duke nukem forever
I agree with aaronfhff123. They should make Gameplay amazing and then focus on the less important things like Graphics. Maybe more moody. Blood Money was awesome and somewhat moody but with the new capabilities of the current consoles it would be amazing for Depth.
i hope bullet wounds or bloodstains apear on the bodies of the people you shoot. Also cut marks on the bodies of people you cut/stab/slice. Blood money was great. this game should be superb. Remember GAMEPLAY 1st! Production and graphics last. Developers these days seem to forget that. Make it more brutal and intense than the last...PLEASE
You've got to be kidding, the most recent Hitman was easily the best. Everything about it, the flow, the multiple assassination routes, beat the rest of the series.
It wouldn't surprise me if we hear nothing of this until a few months before it's released. I asked and asked and asked about Blood Money for years before it came out. 5 definately needs to be more like Contracts, by far the best in the series. So dark...scary at times....I'll never forget The Meat Kings Party.
wish they make it multi player so you can go assassinate other players with great skills and ect...
I agree whit mp01juve, hope they keep David Bateson as the model for agent 47 and also his voice. Also hope Jesper Kyd will make the soundtrack for the game, it won't be a Hitman game without his awesome soundtrack :D
hitman has been a great series.. i hope they can squeeze another title out in the next year.. Missing out on a next-gen hitman.. Blood Money wasn't really next gen, as it was the same game on the PS2.
Please keep David Bateson as the model for Agent 47. He should have been the actor in the film instead of Timmy Olyphant
Since the stealth and exploration is great in Arkham (telling from the demo) and the game's being really well received by critics, I don't see how this is a bad thing. I think these guys could do a good Hitman title as long as they don't censor themselves.

That better not screw up. Arkham Asylum looks great, but when it comes to Hitman my faith is in IO.
@Glade Gnarr I see what you're saying about Kane & Lynch, but the story and the ideas weren't that bad (the execution just wasn't quite right). Maybe if they get another stab at it, it might improve the game a bit while keeping the edgy content of the first game. I'm looking forward to the latest Hitman, hope the new devs keep true to the formulae of the previous hitman games (especially blood money with the new 'accident' assassinations). Ace!

Why are they making a Kane and Lynch 2? It reminds me of Army of 2, a forgetable game that doesn't need a sequel.
i played the demo for Batman Arkham Asylum on my PS3, it's hella fun! i've been looking up news for Hitman 5 every week for like the past two years! Blood Money was fun and i can't wait for Hitman 5!

Another Hitman would be great (and let's face it, we knew it was only a matter of when), I just hope Squeenix keeps their hands off the property while it's being developed.

Hitman should be developed by IO, nobody else.... If they need help, well cool then but do it yourself I say.... Look at James Bond franchise... Goldeneye was perfect, EA killed it for years then when they struck gold with Nightfire they switched again...... Still, whatever happens I'll still be looking for Hitman 5 when it hits.....
im sure Rocksteady will do an amazing job with the series after playing Batman: Arkham Asylum which in my opinion was the way on how to make a good game!! good job Rocksteady :)
Good news... I miss the Hitman Series. Still hope Jesper Kyd is still the composer. I was extremely disappointed with K&L single player. Great narrative spoilt by major bugs when it was first released plus audio was not even close to Bloodmoney. Felt like a rushed product. But anyway this is good news indeed plus Mini Ninjas looks interesting too :D
