I just finished the story and I liked it, but it has way to many bugs and problems to be a great game. I died during a cut scene from a grenade!
Sterne Agee industry watcher estimates shipments of EA's new shooter have reached 3 million, coming up short of original's 5 million.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter failed to live up to its predecessor with regard to sales. That's according to Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia, who told investors today that EA likely shipped fewer than 3 million copies of Warfighter to date, compared to the 2010 original Medal of Honor's 5 million.
Since the game's release in October, EA has not announced official sales figures for Warfighter. In October, EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau said critical reception for the game "fell below our expectations."
Sterne Agee downgraded EA shares from "Buy" to "Neutral" today over concerns that Wall Street's estimates along with EA's own guidance for full-year sales will prove overly optimistic. EA announced in October that it plans to haul approximately $4.05 to $4.20 billion in full-year net revenue.
The downgrade was a result of a range of factors, including lowered sales expectations for Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel, SimCity, and Fuse, all of which are due during EA's fourth quarter.
Adding to the trouble, according to Bhatia, was Warfighter's "disappointing early performance," the cancellation of NBA Live 13 in September, and difficult comparisons to last year, which saw the release of the top-performing Battlefield 3. The analyst said EA would have been smart to lower its full-year sales expectations due to these factors.
And the game is in the bargain bin since like beginning of november! People are careful with the games from EA now...
....and of these 2.something million shipped, the sold number was surely less. Because I see it on the shelves wherever I go. So $1 million in sales is probably going to be called a setback.
I played the 2010 title and enjoyed it. I'll play this one, too, when I am able to chip away some at my backlog.
Despite all the boo-hoo about the game, I liked it and I will play and like whatever I want to. It is the silent millions that spend money that counts.
what is the point of MoH? EA has battlefield why would they need another shooter that looks the same as BF4?
@West123 well they have to earn some money, while DICE cooking their next master piece ! ;)
@West123 The pacing of Warfighter is very different from Battlefield, and no vehicles is a big difference. I'm not sure if a lot of people in this comments section have actually played Warfighter... If you want faster pacing, team work with the buddy system, sliding/leaning in cover, and guns that don't feel/sound plastic (that last one isn't Battlefield, but I won't name any names), then Warfighter could've been a great choice.
Unfortunately Danger Close clearly needed more time to figure out the new Frostbite 2.0 engine. The game has great potential IMO...
I like Crysis as well, but that offers a different set of gameplay mechanics with the suit's powers.
So much hatred against EA, i don't have feeling about EA, but hell EA publishes and sponsors the most valuable franchises/developers in the game industry, Any other publishers as big as EA would have done the same thing in order to keep their money rolls, it's normal, otherwise they won't be able to increases their revenue and keep investors happy, plus throwing millions of dollars to support their developers. Everyone simply hating, just because other's are hating ... Does Acitvision to a better job ?! i don't think so ... plus they don't even have the quarter of the AAA studios that EA got, yet lot of people already hate them. EA is just a very small element in a country that filled with hypocrisy! Learn to get over your self!
@Aria1368 we hate EA because of destroying awesome IP-s because they want to sell it to wider audiences (above is one example), because of online passes and day one DLC-s, damn it when I buy a game a wanna get the whole game not 2/3,... we hate EA because they are one of the destroyers of the gaming industry
@Metalmanijak well, DICE's Battlefield 3 sold over 17 millions plus nearly 3 millions of premium, which is the only fps game that could reach billion dollar revenue besides Call of duty. that my friend came from EA.
MoH:W failure caused by Danger close, they are the one that had millions of dollars sponsored by EA. EA even paid a lot for marketing of that game plus shitloads of money to Linkin Park to advertise that game even more. The only thing that might have some influence on the game's performance after launch, which could actually caused by EA, was pushing the game (which alone has millions of other reason behind it) so the game might not be polished enough... but as u can see, the problem with that game wasn't really "polish thing" ... BF3 had that kinda issue at launch but the game was so good that no one cared! till they fixed them! You can't just blame EA for everything you hear from the news!!! all those strategies regarding to dlcs and blah blah are as well supported by other publishers, it's all simply about money!
@nmiqdadi actually sold less that 3 millions, 3 millions is shipped to stores not sold!
furthermore global distribution dosnt go through EA..its 3rd parties they buy a number of games from EA then sell them to stores in regions say south america...
@Yodake not true rock star/taketwo has the best production value next its EA then Ubisoft so crappy games is a bit harsh
So we can expect EA to further squeeze the MoH udder? How many cows must EA dry up and put into the ground before they're satisfied?
MOH should go back to WW2 in the next gen consoles. WW2 shooters are coming back strong, you will see! MOH should be the first to do it next gen, they need to separate themselves from COD and their modern/furture era.
@huerito323 I'm %100 agree, cuz modern MP fps games are pretty much owned by COD and BF...
Best Buy had it for $20 on boxing day; not a great sign for a relatively new release- all the other big name titles were $40 (picked me up some Far Cry 3 and Hitman Absolution... good times, both)
I'm not sure if I should be happy or not. I've always liked this franchise, but the modern MoH games really have nothing to do with the classic games :(. It's literally a CoD clone with a couple of adjustments.
Just cause it's made by the same folks, doesn't mean it should be like a clone. The earlier CoD/MoH games were similar, but they do play differently. It's like Marathon and Halo; they have very similar aesthetics, but two completely different games.
@Busy_Man123 To be fair, the earlier CODs don't even play like the new CODs... So if anything is the clone, it's COD since MOH came first. Then again most kids playing COD weren't old enough to know the original MOH even existed.
I have to admit. I now stay away from titles that have DLC that should be part of the original game. Now BF3 - I could understand it's DLC. But I brought PGA 13 and brought the Legend Edition, thinking I should have everything right! Nope, DLC was available the same week the game was released, plus in the game all the advertising and begging for you to purchase more stuff to go with the game. It is crazy.
Big titles are starting to fail, Diablo 3 another, why, stop advertising one thing then give people another. Also, getting people to rate your game higher than it deserves don't work anymore if a person know how to use YouTube to View Gameplay footage!
The biggest mistake is the price! At $60.00 bucks we expect a lot! Not expect to have to shell out another $120.00 bucks to end up with a total game! Or sale the game for say $20.00, then if I like it, I will buy the DLC, as long as it's priced fair, and if it ads a value that I desire. I hardly play the Story of FPS, so sale me a $20.00 Multiplayer Version! Or RPG's I may not play the Multiplayer but want the Singleplayer. Get the idea! But $60.00!!! At first we fell for the price hike when the consoles were released, but even PC titles went up, when we already pay a good penny for a good gaming machine!
So let me guess, when new Gen Systems come out games will then be $59.99 for standard edition! Good Luck! We may buy 1 or 2 of your titles at full price!
Look at the Game Path of Exile, Or DOTA 2. Even though the game was going to be free, I quickly shelled out 10 or 20 bucks to play the BETA and know if I like it, that I already own it. The Games are good, and I don't have big expectations why, because I only spent 10.00!
They have made games about the rich folks making money, instead of the games being "FUN" and true to the genre it belongs and the Fans!
Forgive me for any typo's but the input window keeps jumping up and down as I type so I don't feel like trying to edit!
You know hate on CoD all you want - sure the campaign is short and sometimes shallow.
But it has a very silky smooth frame rate for console
And when look around the graphics are some of the best in any game- details, details, details
Fine gameplay, the campaign controls well, almost no hiccups or slowdown, and introduces the weapons well.
-Its multiplayer is the best for a reason, whether you are a camper or pusher or in between the game has it all. The maps unbelievably well thought out.
-its community is some of the ... well the game does have some smooth framerate i tell ya.
I played a few hours of this game over at a friends house - never could get the controls comfortable to the way I prefer or get that stupid camera to behave in close to really start to enjoy or flesh out more of the game. Even the campaign was lacking. He played it for a few weeks and just gave up on it.
I know the people who play cod mw3 are knuckle dragging mouth breathers, but hey it more then give us our 60$ worth - I have a few friends over we each get on 3 xboxes and 3 monitors it is a blast.
Like it or not EA need to remember the game needs to be fun at its heart first.
@jenovaschilld Gameplay wise, Warfighter felt great, coming from someone who plays a lot of FPS games. The problem was the lack of polish and time allowed to bring the vision to fruition. It got a lot of the heat from reviewers who are tired of COD yearly releases oversaturating the market, but aren't brave enough to say much against COD... Serious advertising dollars are spent by Activision on that game.
Warfighter's MP struck a nice balance between BF3 and COD pacing, with some of the best feeling shooting mechanics I've seen since BFBC2. Too bad they just didn't have the time needed to put out a top quality product.
Having to develop a new game on the new Frostbite 2 engine could answer for some of that as well...
@M3o5nster @jenovaschilld I take a bit of issue with challenging critics to be "brave enough" to criticize CoD. While I definitely play a LOT more Halo 4 than BO2, I can see that Treyarch really tried to push the boundaries with that game. Due to CoD's built in audience of hardcore fans (who are quite particularly about the "feel" of a CoD game), there wasn't a lot of wiggle room they had to play around in, but they managed to throw in a branching storyline that was actually rather interesting and in which your choices (often dictated by your gaming ABILITY and the objectives you are able to successfully accomplish, in addition to simple "press A to do this, press B to do that" decisions- which was really cool to see) had a profound impact on how the story played out. They also really overhauled the loadout system, which really changed the balance of multiplayer in a way that allows veterans to cater to their play style AND noobs to experiment with a bunch of stuff until they find what works.
Again, I am in the Halo 4 camp and really haven't spent a lot of time in the BO2 multiplayer, but to say that BO2 was a cookie-cutter CoD sequel with no effort put into it, is just an inaccurate claim.
@grey_fox1984 Once again, you try to put words in my mouth to prove your case... Weaker gameplay is your opinion, and it is arrogant to state your personal feelings as facts. You can defend COD all you want... I can see you're sensitive about the subject. I made no mention of COD being a clone; you did. I made no mention of graphics; you did. I spoke about what I liked in Warfighter. Obviously someone is feeling guilty for being a COD fan... Don't be mad at me because a lot of people speak out against COD.
Are you on Activision's payroll? Why do you feel the need to defend them so adamantly? If you read my original statement, you'll realize how ridiculously overblown your response is... I aint the one, so check yourself.
"I stand by every statement I actually made."
Btw, isn't it awesome we get to play as Cyborg Ninja in MGR ^^ I actually had to make the tough choice of passing on Ni no Kuni, because I won't have time for it with MGR launching soon, and I'm replaying DMC HD and Chrono Cross currently. I'm definitely not picking up the new "DmC" though...
@M3o5nster Dude my screen name is GREY_FOX1984, are you actually trying to imply that you are any more excited for Metal Gear Rising than I am? I've been waiting for a full-fledged cyborg ninja Metal Gear game since the VR Missions on PS1
Battlefield's multiplayer carves its own niche by being dramatically different from CoD in terms of scope and style- MoH (and in turn, Battlefield 3's single player game) try to ape CoD's style in an attempt to grab their audience- and gamers like you hop up on a high horse and blindly call every CoD game a clone of the last. Is that really your opinion though? or is it the opinion you decided to have because it's fashionable to hate CoD? Personally I'm not what you would call a CoD apologist (the series DOES have its flaws), but Medal of Honour is clearly the weaker series of the two- whether you're referring to gameplay, narrative, multiplayer or even graphics (MoH has the more detailed screenshots, but runs like crap compared to CoD's silky framerate).
...and everybody with a PS3 is going to be playing The Last of Us, if you wanted to throw out a possible gem that the CoD drones would not be likely to play, should've gone with Ni No Kuni or Remember Me
@grey_fox1984 I never made that claim...
Buyy MW4 later this year, and BO3 in 2014, etc. It's your money, so do with it what you want. I'll be playing Battlefield and games like Last of Us, Metal Gear Rising, etc.
I stand by every statement I actually made.
Good. Death to EA. Worst publisher in the industry. Seems like people are figuring that out and staying away from everything with that logo.
3 million undeserved copies on an overrated, crappy, run of the mill FPS, I don't think Dark Souls sold even 3 million.....
This generation is thick as shit,.
@lokizarro trends are trends dude...dont worry FPS cant and wont stay king for long...now that sandbox games are starting to shine in terms of gameplay and graphics...
