GameStop listing suggests Gearbox Software's upcoming shooter will offer Season Pass featuring four expansions delivered by summer 2013.
Aliens: Colonial Marines will feature a $30 downloadable content Season Pass, according to a GameStop product listing. The page states the pass will include four expansions to be delivered by summer 2013. These are to include extra campaign content, additional multiplayer maps, new modes, and further character customization options.
Developer Gearbox Software has not announced an Aliens: Colonial Marines Season Pass, and a representative from the company was not immediately available to comment.
A Season Pass for Aliens: Colonial Marines would not come as much of a surprise. Gearbox's latest game, Borderlands 2, featured a $30 pass that gave gamers access to four expansion packs.
In addition, such initiatives are becoming widespread, and can be found in games like Halo 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Max Payne 3, Gears of War 3, Saints Row: The Third, L.A. Noire, and UFC Undisputed 3.
4 things that should stop you from buying any game.

Fuck Rockstar and their shitty ports, i never have or will pay for a Rockstar game. But then again i never have bought any multi platform game, i get them all at warez[insert here].
We dont need more console ports or multi platform games, we got enough pc exclusive devs whos willing to earn their money, thank you for keeping your shit away from our beloved platform.
It's a mistake to release this information before the game is even shipped because it's a major turn off unless you really want the game.
I miss the days when a game would come out, then after about a 8 months - 1 Year an expansion pack with a new campaign and tons of new features would come out, I guess those days are now is the era of crappy DLC.
@Darksider141 I recently bought the DLC "Requiem of the Goddess" for Final Fantasy XIII-2. OMG! I would've gotten better value for money if I'd just watched it flush down the toilet...
@Darksider141 EXACTLY! DLCS are just getting worse by the second, only some are worthy of our time and money!
I agree, remember how many expansions Medal of Honor 1 and Call of Duty 1 got? not these damn map packs that are insane priced.
Call of Duty: United Offensive and then MOH had what 3 or 4 full expansions with new campaign goodies?
@Yodake I really wanted to play this game; this was an excellent way to ruin that. Game over man, game over!
That's good, even if I still had one last bit of interest left to buy this around launch, this would have made me wait one more year for the complete edition, including all the DLCs.
But all the trailers they released already destroyed each and every single bit of buying decision for me.
See you in 2 years in a sale, maybe.
Meh, I guess I will wait for the GOTY edition that has everything. There is no value in buying games at launch for full price when they get re-released later with more content for less $.
awesome! another game with a me too approach to multiplayer that releases tons of dlc nobody will ever buy
$90 for a complete game is just too much. I can buy a bunch of used games for that price. No wonder why developers have such a hard time selling new games. If a complete edition comes out with no strings attached I might think about playing it.
Of course, giving the 4 add'l campaigns away for free would've been better, but Gearbox got it just about right with the $30 for Blands2. You knew you'd get 4 add'l worlds to plow through in co-cop. But adding "multiplayer" maps? Or more modes? Meh. Pass. I might pay for more campaign but not more MP crap. And unproven MP-crap, at that.
@kessel21 Borderlands 2 has had some pretty crap DLC if you ask me.
@Atheosis @kessel21 i think pretty much all DLC is crap for all games but if they're going to put it out, at least they gave us 4 expansion packs that stayed pretty true to the original game and not just stupid arenas. my point was that more MP maps aren't my cup of tea in general. and certainly not worth paying $30 upfront for an unproven game with who-knows-what types of modes. pass.
Is it just me or does this look more and more like Natural Selection 2? Spitters, boilers, crusher. All classes in NS2 just different name.
If I hadn't got my pre-order of Aliens: Colonial Marines for so cheap, this news would probably put me off from buying the game. I simply don't enjoy the prospect of having to spend another £30 on-top of the existing retail price just so I can enjoy the full experience through DLC.
LOL, so this is why it's been Delayed for so long, they have been working on DLC all this time, Scum thats all I gotta say there goes my Pre-oreder.
Here we gooooo. DLC milking on the way, content that should be on the game in the first place. Aside from that I'm curious to play this game campaign so I might buy the game.
Everyone can post negative thoughts about this game, but I've waited TOO long for A:CM to come out. 2001 to be exact (if you know about the canceled game for the PS2, awesome) and with this game almost out for release, I intend to get it day 1.
@PandaTrueno86 I've been following the game since 2001 too. I don't know about day 1. but I will get it for sure either in the first Steam sale or when an ultimate edition with all the DLC comes out next year.
@PandaTrueno86 Same, plus it doesn't help that I'm a huge Aliens fan, so I've been waiting for an Aliens only game without Predators. As long as they capture the essence of the marines in the movie (cheesy, badasses) I'll be happy. Now to wait for a Starship Troopers game...
@stealthyninja81 They could have let the series die with dignity, but I won't lie, I am looking forward to a new Splinter Cell. I was mad that they decided not to go with Michael Ironside, but that was only because it required a much more physical role than just voice acting. This game uses motion-capture as well, and Michael Ironside said he was getting too old to be in such a physical role, which I understand.
People bashed the last 2010 AvP game which on PC,imo, was a masterpiece. Still looks sublime and the marines face expression when youre going to execute them is always priceless. And now they fall for this weak consolized crap that seems to be half the game the last AvP was, looks worse than the other game but also boring as hell....
@GamerOuTLaWz A masterpiece? The campaign was terrible, especially the marine side. The multiplayer was alright at best but was lacking and was dead in just a couple of months, they also had no dedicated servers and the DLC was worse. How was that a masterpiece? You just seem like a wanna-be PC elitist, imo.
@SergioMX @GamerOuTLaWz I was talking about the MP, the MP played just as well as AvP2 but did much better with the maps, executes and graphics. Only sad it never was really populated and I never got to enjoy a good infestation mode like in AvP2. Seriously this alien game looks like complete boring trash.
true , as serigo said .
i liked aspects of the game. But the MP died , the variety was missing, even tho it had exellent ideas, but just never taken to next level.
It was a good game.... but nothing like it should of been . This game looks much more promising, bigger budget ,
But im still skeptical of it........ i just dont think it will do the series the justic it deserves. Like arkham series did to batman.
we wont find out until we play it. But im not hyped .. that much.
People bought the Borderlands 2 Season pass, expecting the dlc to be huge and fun like the 1st game's dlc was. Now 3/4ths of them regret buying it, b/c guess what, when everyone's already bought and paid for a refundless 4 dlcs, there's no reason to make it good.
Plus, Randy already confirmed on Twitter the campaign for ACM is only going to average 8-10 hours long. I was looking forward to this game, but I'm not paying $60 for an 8-10 hour game. I don't care if Randy says it's aimed at multiple playthroughs or not. How much of the game can be that different out of only 8-10 hours? I doubt that much, especially since it's 4 player co-op.
Makes sense now though, it's super short, so you buy all that extra dlc, so you can try and get more out of your purchase.
yh true say. But most people trusted borderlands 2 , as borderlands was a good game. But this is a new entry , new game. And it needs first to build its base.
And then offer something like a pass. I mean this seems a quick cash grab off a well known franchise.
@inebriantia 8-10 hours is actually a pretty good length for a FPS campaign. Easily 4 times the length of CoDs. But then so are my turds.
30$ for content that should probably be in the game on release in the first place. I wish I could meet the guy who though of DLC and beat him shtless...
@jack00 DLC's was very popular few years back...mostly for pc gamers...coz they was offered for free by developers.
@sladakrobot They're called EXPANSION packs; NOT DLC
