$100 premium bundle includes Powerloader figurine, "xeno hive" box, four multiplayer characters from 1986 movie, weapons, and customization options.
When Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines arrives in 2013, players will be able to pick up a $100 collector's edition of the spacebound shooter, the company announced today. The highlight of the premium bundle, due out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, is the Powerloader figurine (pictured), which will come inside a "xeno hive" box.
On top of this, the Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition will pack in four characters stemming from the 1986 film Aliens. These characters will be playable in the game's multiplayer component and include Private Hudson, Corporal Hicks, Private Drake, and Sergeant Apone.
In addition, the premium bundle contains Ripley's flamethrower, exclusive multiplayer weapons (sonic electronic ball breakers and the phase plasma rifle), the USCM Academy firing range game level, unspecified character customization options, and a USCM dossier that contains various documents.
On top of announcing the Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition, Gearbox revealed that those who preorder the game will score the previously mentioned Aliens multiplayer characters, Ripley's flamethrower, and character customization options.
The Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition and preorder content will be made available to all for purchase sometime after launch, a Gearbox representative told GameSpot. Exact timing and pricing details will be announced at a later date.
Additionally, Gearbox confirmed to GameSpot this afternoon that there are no plans for a PC collector's edition for Aliens: Colonial Marines in North America, but a premium Windows bundle will be available internationally. As for the Wii U version--which will be the best-looking, according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford--Gearbox said, "We will have more news on that front at a later time."
Aliens: Colonial Marines was recently delayed to February 12, 2013, after previously being scheduled to ship this fall. The Wii U version has not yet been assigned a release date.
The story of Aliens: Colonial Marines picks up shortly after the events of the 1986 sci-fi film Aliens. Players will join a squad of the titular space soldiers who board the USS Sulaco, the spaceship from the film, after it is apparently abandoned. From there the action will spread to the surface of the planet LV-426 and its main settlement, Hadley's Hope. The first-person shooter will also feature environments and weapons inspired by the film.

I'd have traded in Drake for Vas. At least then you have 2 white guys, 1 black dude, and a Hispanic chick, instead of 4 males, 3 of them being white dudes.
This game deserves the title as successor to Aliens. Let's all pretend that the hideous "Alien 3" movie never happened. When I saw it in the theater as a teen and they showed Kyle and Newt killed, I almost walked out.
@AaronPierce Complaining about Alien 3 over Alien: Resurrection? A3 wasn't so bad. It just had the unenviable task of following up on 2 of the best sci-fi movies in history. A4 was sooooo much worse.
So you get to visit an empty space ship (SULACO) and then go down to a smoking hole in the surface of LV426 (destroyed when the reactor overheated) I smell some loop holes in the plot.
Has anyone noticed you get a bonus item called 'sonic electronic ball breakers' thats one of the weapons Hudson lists to Ripley when they are in the drop ship!!
I really want this franchise to succeed because i love the alien movies but im terrified this is going to be the whole "Duke Nukem" fiasco all over again. Were i buy the super awesome $150 dollar edition and it comes with a few trinkets, crap dlc and an god awful game. BALLS OF STEEL EDITION!!!!! QUIT HAUNTING ME!!!!!!
Neat characters, but where's Ripley and Vasquez? Also, for a collector's edition of a game based on one of the best sequels ever, I would think that the non-director's cut (because most of the added scenes are recycled footage anyway) signed by Sigourney Weaver being added in would perhaps justify a $100 edition of a game that's going to sell based on name alone. Not multiplayer characters and a $5 plastic carton. Just saying.
no PC collectors edition??? WTF I don't want to have to have the shittiest version of the game just so i can get that awesome looking box and miniature power-loader. Jesus, I guess i'll have to buy a Wii-U then.
This is probably the only Collector's Edition package I have any interest in. Always wanted a powerloader. I agree with a couple of people below me though, shoulda included Vasquez instead of Drake.
@scatterbrain007 Noooooooooo, jump three times and say a Hail Mary! You cannot be dissin' the Drake! :) Hehe, agreed, Vasquez should be in, but in addition to, not instead of, Drake. Aaaaaaaabsolute bad asses!
Always with the stupid C.E with every freakin' game now. It's tired. Here is an idea, how about ONE version with EVERYTHING on the disk no matter what store you buy it at? No Pre-Order exclusive, no Store exclusive, no Day 1 DLC!!!!!! God I miss the older days of gaming when it didn't have all this garbage. .
@Lotus-Edge LOL. You think gearbox is a company of ONLY 5-6 programmers and artists? All these collector's item are handled by marketing department and maybe some input from the other departments. It is not by the developers. It's 2 different things.
@Lotus-Edge That's really not how this works. You don't get coders and artists manufacturing plastic bits and bobs. Nothing about this package in any way reflects the time the development team is spending.
They should have had the woman Marine Vasquez instead of Drake, she had more screen time and is more known. Happy about the CE and the love they have for "Aliens". I will be going on this bug hunt ASAP.
It's good to see the game has been delayed, because it looked seriously boring.
Hopefully they'll spend some time making this game more than just another rehash of the Aliens' movie best action scenes. Not holding my breath though...
