Additions to the PlayStation Store this week are an eclectic bunch. Gamers looking to sink their teeth into titles with head-to-head fighting, shooting, and cartoon aliens all have options this week.
Leading the charge this week is Team 17’s arcade shooter Alien Breed: Impact ($14.99). The futuristic top-down isometric shooter casts players as a Conrad, a weapon-wielding alien punisher. Impact tasks players with traversing environments, laying waste to alien enemies, and solving puzzles. For those who don’t want to go it alone, Alien Breed: Impact supports two-play co-op both locally and over the PlayStation Network.
Also available today in the PlayStation 3 storefront is Deadliest Warrior: The Game ($10) from Spike Games. The title, which is based off the Spike TV program of the same name, lets players suit up as famous historical fighting classes (ninjas, knights, samurai), and battle it out. Players looking for a deeper level of immersion can customize their characters and take the fight online over the PlayStation Network.
Another alien-themed title hitting Sony’s virtual marketplace this week is Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction ($29.99). The title thrusts players into the cartoon boots of alien transformer Ben, trekking though several international destinations vanquishing evil in the process.
For legacy gamers, Sony this week added two PS One Japanese import titles to the virtual marketplace. Ready to download today is Arcade Hits: Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty ($5.99) and Magical Drop F ($5.99). It’s worth noting that both titles are direct Japanese imports. Their menu screens have been translated into English, but beyond that, players will need to be proficient in Japanese to read onscreen text.
Sony added five new minis titles to its download hub this week. They include Fort Commander: King’s Gambit ($4.49), Urbanix ($4.99), Apache: Overkill ($2.99), Actual Crimes: Jack the Ripper ($3.99), and Shapo ($4.99).
For the music gamer, Sony updated its download space this week with new tunes for Rock Band and Def Jam Rapstar. Rock Band welcomes tunes from R.E.M. and T. Rex, and Def Jam Rapstar adds new tunes from Diddy, DJ Khaled, Eric B. & Rakim, Flo Ride, Maino, and the Sugarhill Gang.
Also of note, Infinity Ward’s two map packs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 this week have been discounted 50 percent. The Stimulus Package and Resurgence Map pack are now $7.49 each.
