Alexander's invasion delayed, priced

[UPDATE] Release of Rome: Total War expansion pushed back; add-on will be downloadable for $14.99, features new map based on the Great's exploits.

If the Persian Empire had this much warning of Alexander the Great's impending invasion, perhaps it would still be around. Fans of The Creative Assembly's Rome: Total War have been patiently awaiting an announcement of the Rome: Total War Alexander expansion pack. Since it was announced early last month, its release date was only the nonspecific "June."

Today, it was revealed that the expansion will be available in the very earliest portion of that nebulous date, June 1. Gamers can grab the add-on via digital download from both the Sega and Rome: Total War official Web sites for $14.99.

The expansion will focus on the legendary Macedonian king, who conquered most of the known world before he turned 30. In addition to a new campaign map, there will be six new historical battles with Alex's foes, such as the Greek and Indian armies. There will also be 60 new units and four new factions included--the Macedonians and Persians.

[UPDATE] Just a day after confirming the expansion's release date, Sega has reneged on the June 1 availability.

"Rome: Total War Alexander has been delayed," a Sega rep told GameSpot News. "Nothing wrong with the game that's causing the delay. It's just a case of one of our territories not being ready with their retail site for the game, hence we have to wait a bit to release." Sega still plans to begin digitally distributing sometime in June.

why can't you buy it in stores then i can play it (15 years old so can't pay to download)

Sega says "Ok, here is the release date." The next day.....Sega says, "Yeah, about that release date...Yeah...ummm...it's delayed." =P

Hmm well thats not a very good reason for a full delay,..just delay it there in the territory that isn't ready

cool this game comes out on my dad's birthday, he is really a Medieval Total War player but he conquers also on Rome, me too, that game is awsome, cant wait when it comes out.

Oh, well. It's still in June. We won't be waiting too long. It's only a subtle problem. Maybe it'll only be delayed for about a week...?

@_@ cannot wait! One of my favorite games ever. Can't wait for Medieval 2, and yeah, I hope we someday do get a Shogun 2... Or a Chinese Warfare game maybe. Maybe some Warring States period material. Also, I discovered this tip: Rome:TW doesn't like my dual-core athlon 64 X2. It performs wacky. There is a switch you can put into your boot.ini to disable the second processor. Sadly, I don't have it handy (not at home) but if you are having probs, I'd recommend googling for that switch (it's something like "/numberprocs=1" or sumtin).

nice!, some really nice games for the PC so far. I can get this and HL2 episode 1 for 33US... not bad.

*sigh* So we're supposed to pay $15 for this, when there's free mods that contain a great deal more? Better find my wallet then. =( Edit: LMAO, Macedon is a new faction, guys!

This will be an EXCELLENT addition to the Rome: TW series. This is an add-on / expansion so you will need the original ver of the game. I think this shows an outstanding commitment to the game and I have been thrilled with all the Total War games I have. I don't have Shogun...:( I CAN'T WAIT!! :lol:

Thats awesome Can't wait to play this. I can't wait to add this to the game. I hope it will be fun. What I really want to see is the first game come out on the PS3 and 360. Plus this would be added to it.The first was a great game and I think this one will be sweet too.
