How would history be different if George Washington succumbed to the allure of infinite power? Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed III will answer that question through downloadable content called "The Tyranny of King George."

A single-player campaign delivered through three episodes, the content tasks players will dethroning Washington and returning freedom to the colonies. Ubisoft had no qualms about altering history, according to executive producer Sebastien Puel.

“History is our playground, and [Assassin's Creed] teams have always loved playing with historical facts and their consequences as a way to better understand a time period,” Puel said in a statement. “While Assassin’s Creed III concentrates on history as it happens, we wanted to take some liberties with this DLC and tell you how things ‘could have happened.’”

The Tyranny of King George DLC will be included with the $30 Assassin's Creed III season pass. The pass offers gamers access to five DLC packs, and will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Pass-holders will not only save 25 percent over the cost of purchasing each add-on individually, but they will also have access to the content a week ahead of everyone else.

On top of the single-player DLC, upcoming Assassin's Creed III add-on content will include new maps and characters for the game's multiplayer component. No further information on these offerings was made available. Further, no standalone price was provided for The Tyranny of King George or the multiplayer packs, and a Ubisoft representative was not immediately available for comment.

Assassin's Creed III is due out for PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 30, with release following on launch day for Wii U on November 18. The PC version was originally targeted to ship alongside the console iterations, but was delayed to November 20.
