Released on November 1 in North America and November 2 in Europe, Uncharted 3 "has smashed sales expectations," according to Sony. Additionally, the Naughty Dog-developed title is on pace to be the best-selling game in the franchise to date. When Uncharted 2 launched in October of 2009, it took the game the better part of a month before Sony confirmed it reached 1 million copies sold worldwide.

Uncharted 3 focuses on protagonist Drake's search for a lost city, with the wily adventurer finding his way to the Arabian Peninsula and its bleak Empty Quarter. In addition to the new multiplayer overhauls, the game features stereoscopic 3D capability, new stealth and melee maneuvers, and more.

Gamers eager for still more Uncharted fun won't need to wait very long. Bend Studio will debut its take on the franchise when the PlayStation Vita launches next February with the handheld launch title Uncharted: Golden Abyss. The studio previously brought another PS3-exclusive series to the portable market with Resistance: Retribution for the PSP.
