At this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Konami confirmed the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, saying the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 compilation would bundle together Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and last year's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Today, series creator Hideo Kojima revealed players will be getting even more for their money with the package.

In a series of posts on his Twitter feed today, Kojima offered a bit of extra information on the bundle. Specifically, he confirmed that the version of Metal Gear Solid 3 included in the package is Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, the 2006 follow-up that packed in an additional online mode, the ability to control the in-game camera with the right analog stick, and other tweaks.

However, Subsistence also featured emulated versions of the original MSX versions of series progenitors Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2. That makes the collection a little more comprehensive than before, with the original Metal Gear Solid now the most glaring omission. (Kojima did note that the Japanese Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will include Metal Gear Solid, but it omits Peace Walker.)

The HD Collection isn't the only bit of Metal Gear nostalgia on the way. 3DS owners can look forward to the release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D later this year.
