Battle: Los Angeles game strikes early

Upcoming Konami game outed by Australian Classification Board.

When game and entertainment products are rated by the Australian Classification Board, brief descriptions and their allocated ratings are uploaded to the government-run website. While the site is an important source of information for curious guardians, occasionally it lets the cat out of the bag before publishers have announced their title.

This seems to be the case for Battle: Los Angeles, a Konami game with an identical name to Columbia Pictures' upcoming feature film. According to the Australian Classification Board, the game was classified on February 18 and is being developed by Saber Interactive, the studio responsible for 2007's TimeShift and upcoming third-person shooter, Inversion.

Despite the similarity, at this stage it remains unclear whether the Battle: Los Angeles game is tied to the movie of the same name. The film is due to be released in March 2011 and follows an alien invasion of the United States of America. The film stars Michelle Rodriguez and Aaron Eckhart. GameSpot AU contacted Konami's Australian distributor seeking clarification, but the publisher refused to comment at time of publication.

Stay tuned to GameSpot for more information on the Battle: Los Angeles game as it becomes available.
