Facebook is the world's largest online gaming platform. It has games about farming, fishing, mafia wars, and lots more. What it doesn't yet have is a social game based on the popular Assassin's Creed franchise--but that will soon change.

Ubisoft today announced Assassin's Creed Project Legacy, a brand-new game due out on Facebook "soon." Project Legacy will serve as a companion to the upcoming console Assassin's installment, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, by affording players of both games added bonuses.

By playing Assassin's Creed Project Legacy, players will unlock "extra content" for Brotherhood. Unfortunately, Ubisoft did not provide additional specifics as to what the complementary content will be.

On the flip side, Brotherhood players will be able to unlock up to 25 exclusive missions in Project Legacy, which will allow them to earn currency and experience points within the Facebook game.

According to Ubisoft, the advent of Assassin's Creed Project Legacy marks the first instance where the French publisher has integrated a social game into a console title.
