The Conduit 2 insulated until 2011

High Voltage Software's Wii-exclusive first-person shooter sequel delayed, Classic Controller support to be included.

Between Call of Duty: Black Ops, GoldenEye 007, and The Conduit 2, this coming holiday season was shaping up to be a busy one for Wii-owning first-person shooter fans. However, Sega is leaving it to one of Activision's titles to claim the system's FPS sales crown this holiday season, as High Voltage Software's The Conduit 2 has been pushed to next year. Sega confirmed for GameSpot today that it "is looking into" a first-quarter 2011 release for the title.

The delay was originally reported by console-specific site Nintendojo, which also reported new control options for the sequel. Gamers who don't enjoy motion controls in their first-person shooters will be able to use both the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro with The Conduit 2. High Voltage had previously confirmed support for the Wii MotionPlus peripheral as well.

The single-player mode of The Conduit 2 will pick up the original game's alien invasion storyline, with Sega promising dynamic environments, player customization options, and giant boss enemies. As for multiplayer, Sega will introduce new co-op modes for online play, or offline with up to four players sharing a split-screen. The publisher is also promising "increased multiplayer security" for the game, in light of the cheating that undermined the online play of the original game.

I know goldeneye was classic, but that was mainly because of multyplayer. Yes i wabnt goldeneye too, but this comes first, because the orignal was my favorite game of 2008. Good idea to put it back because it gives them time to get rid of the stupid cheating that destroyed the exccelent multyplayer of the first. You know someones a noob when they use a rapid fire automatic SMAW.

Also IGN was not the only reviewer to call it best on Wii.
NIntendo Power did. And honestly, the reviewers focused to much on details, like lack of destructible enviorments. Yes it was not a perfect game but it DID NOT deserve the bad treatment it got. That is why this one is such an important game.

I think the conduit is the best PURE fps on wii. meaning a shooter which focuses mainly on shooting. For the wide umbrella of normal fps, Metroid prime corruption is best but it focusses on exploration (like metroid should do) Also, did u even buy the game. The only reason it got a bad review was because a) Reviews compared it to heavily to the VERY well advanced and tried and tested halo+COD series and B) because the reviewers were bad players of the game. look at the guy who revied it for gamespot. He obviously was a horrible player.

Then why does it say November 2nd for the release date?

im kinda happy that its delayed because theres more time for them to polish it up, and golden eye and black ops will make me forget my worries about this game. i cannot wait for the invasion mode because i loved the diversity of the aliens! this game will be beast.

were you being sarcastic or really stupid. The first goldeneye sold way better than the conduit, not to mention goldeneye was rated much better, receiving amazing universal reviews. The conduit got like 2 good reviews, and one of them was when IGN screwed up and called it the best shooter game on the wii!

Wow talk about a fail. Everyone said that Goldeneye was making a mistake by using classic controller as a compatible controller. And now HVS is delaying the release to avoid..."competition" with goldeneye eventhough it would have sold wayyyy more anyway. Seriously conduit 2 has a way better engine and way better graphics, multiplayer, and more! Why would anyone even think of buying goldeneye over Conduit 2!

They said that they didn't want to force M+ and Classic Controller is to please anti-motion fanatics that still want to play on Wii. So thats kind of sad for you to say they're forcing it, when they didn't put it in the last game when it would have helped because of that.

Nooooooooooooooooooo I'm pissed I was really looking forward to getting this game for christmas.

I don't have high hopes for a game that can utilize M+, or the classic controller. That's not innovation, that's just forcing something to fit.

360 and ps3 movin into motion sensor tech trying to take the wii`s 70+million gamers,so nintendo is moving into ps3 and the 360 market with this controller to win all those so-called hardcore gamers, compitition is good for bizness and bizness is good

I get the feeling that the poor sales of the first game have been humbling for the developer and they are really knuckling down to bring us something that fits in with today's more sophisticated shooters. I for one will gladly show my support by buying the game.

getting a sequel means that the problems with the first game will improve, i dont see why people havnt noticed that. Nintendo's F bomb is FPS's except Metroid Prime, giving them a chance to improve is gonna be rewarding

the fact that the wii's 3rd party support is improving is great, Nintendo's already kings of first party, making better things on 3rd party support is gonna higher them up, in other words more jelous PS3 and 360 fanboys
Sonic colors is already an awesome one coming soon, who knows what else nintendo will bring out of their overalls

As unpolished as the first was, it still managed to sell over 350, 000 copies over the course of a year, which isn't too shabby for a game genre that the Wii is not exactly very well known, year-after-year, for. If its makers think that they can get the same sales or better again by making sure the sequel is fully polished, why would they not make one?

I'm a little dissapointed with this news as Conduit 2 was the only game I was going to get this holiday season, but at the same time its not totally surprising. HVS reputation was hurt with the first game, which was a Ok but far from being the Wii equilvalent of Halo that it was vaulted to be. But I do agree that the GoldenEye remake is the main reason for this move. All of the attention is on that game and Conduit 2 would have likely suffered sales even worse than The Conduit because everyone who wanted a FPS for the Wii would be getting Goldeneye and ignorning the reputation stained HVS game Conduit 2. I hope HVS doesn't simply rest and uses the extra months to further polish the game. The sequel so far seems vastly supeior to the first according to the previews.

Also I'm not sure that the Wii Black Ops was really a factor. Most people are going to gravitate towards the HD versions after all. This was primarily about GoldenEye.

    @shafe-man
I understand that there are some people who still like to play without moving at all. I now prefer to play using motion controls and, rarely play being still, specially after work as this way I feel more engaged in the game

What I wouldn't want is to encourage returning to a less precise control method when the pointer controls should be a better choice, just because they haven't being ables to size the correct market

I dont know if you realized this or not, but they quite obviously planned on there being a sequel seeing as the end of The Conduit was you know, I GIANT ASS CLIFF HANGER! So, ya it definitely needed a sequel, and seeing as it was basically the best shooter on the wii at the time, it definitely deserves a sequel

If i wanted to use a controller to play an fps, then i would play my ps3. Hopefully with this delay they are also polishing some other stuff up.

I am so glad I got a classic controller. VC is the best and I've used it to play SSBB, Mario Kart, and especially Monster Hunter Tri. Now I can FPS with it too! Thanks High Voltage!

    @RTHKI

august 2010 was 1yr, so it wouldve been 1yr & 3mos if they'd have kept their release sched. it at least needs 2 yrs from last release date for devs to have enough time to make it a decent game. aug 2011 would be about right, but they are just trying to cash in. ill bet you 1000$ it has an average below 7.9 on gamerankings or metacritic if it comes out q1 2011.

    Couldn't agree more.

If I wanted quality, I could just get back and play the Metroid Prime Trilogy.

I have something important to lose, my money. I'm glad I neve got the conduit 1. I saved my money.

Ummm... Dude? The whole name of the game was CONDUIT! those portals? CONDUITS. The game was based on them! And if you were any good, they were pretty easy to clean out.

so Nintendo has realised the limits of motion controlls and the Wii is starting to use classic controller for a lot of its games recently, just as Microsoft and Sony are about to release their motion control technology

feels like Nintendo are slowly moving away from the casual audience and back to the core gamers where Microsoft and Sony are moving away from the core and towards the casual, its all very strange

  • johnnyauau

I guess the choice of games is much easier. Conduit 2 is also supporting classic controller and pro apart from motion controls and plus. Goldeneye 007 for the Wii sure has an impact in choosing controls. Anyway, the best thing is the third party support is improving overtime.

see alot of wii owners happy about classic controller support for this game... take note sony fanboys, soon you will be happy that you can shut off move controls for all your shooters, just like alot of devs had to run a patch so you could turn off sixasix control on past games.

Let's face it - Uncharted was the last great adventure game we're gonna see in a very long time. With quick release dates, skimpy sequels and tacked on multiplayer, I don't expect much depth in this sort of game anymore.

too quick for a sequal. what, are they taking the 1 year madden approach? im all for great sequels, but it takes more than 1 year.
