Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3 on Sony's TGS slate

3D-enabled hyperrealistic racer, sci-fi shooter join God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Little Big Planet 2, and a PlayStation Move smorgasbord at Japan's biggest gaming expo.

With the 2010 Tokyo Game Show just two weeks away, the major game publishers are starting to tout which titles they will be showing off at the massive expo. More than 180,000 people are expected to turn up at the Makahuri Messe just outside Japan's largest city, and one company--Sony--is intent on displaying its latest and (it hopes) greatest game releases to the throngs of attendees.

Front and center will be the PlayStation Move, Sony's camera and LED-controller-based motion control system. There will be nearly 20 playable Move-compatible games on the show floor, including Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition, and Little Big Planet 2.

Two Move titles, Killzone 3 and Power Smash 4, will also be playable with 3D graphics. As shown at Sony's press briefing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony is aggressively pushing its 3D titles, including the Sly Cooper Collection, MotorStorm 3, and the long, long, long-awaited Gran Turismo 5--due out worldwide November 2.

Last but not least, Sony will be displaying its latest wares for the PSP, which has seen its sales fall to quintuple digits in the US. Leading the charge will be Sony's God of War: Ghost of Sparta, along with Konami's Winning Eleven Soccer 2011 and Sega's PSP Yakuza game, tentatively titled Yakuza Panther Shin Akira.

A full list of games appearing on Sony's platforms at the Tokyo Game Show is below, and GameSpot will be on hand at the event, which runs from September 16 to 19.

    @AceTheBat-Hound
    First you mention a PS3 exclusive and then you tell me not to.
    Wow, I would've immediately said Uncharted 2 as it only took 2 years to develop as its base was already done with Uncharted 1 back in 2007.

    Multiplatform game delays on PS3 are mostly due to contracts with other companies, e.g. Microsoft. Some multiplatformgames were also released before PS3 was released, therefore those came in later on PS3.

    Obviously PS3 is harder to develop for as its hardware architecture is not similar to PC's unlike Xbox 360's, because PS3's processor uses SPEs instead of Duo/MultiCores, but in the long run it's up to the development team how long it takes them to develop for the PS3 and how well they do it optimizing the SPEs.

    I'd still claim it's stupid to claim PS3 games take "long to develop" just because of how long Gran Turismo 5 has took as you could simply do the same multiplatformgamewise with Duke Nukem Forever then.

    Gran Turismo 5 is one fine example of a game that's developed by a company that's leader is a perfectionist called Kazunori Yamauchi. Perfectionists usually take their time making their games, but once the results are there we'll all be happy because of how bugfree and full of features they are.

    Disagree, this is just proof that the game designers are perfectionists. GT5 is going to make other games blow thier loads!

    Prove me wrong than. Tell me how many ps3 games have not taken a long time to put out for the ps3(excluding PS3 exclusives).

  • TevoxZi

    @AceTheBat-Hound
    Wait, what?
    That's almost like saying: "PC games take longer to develop, example being Duke Nukem Forever."

    *facepalms* Don't claim facts with ONE game.

    please show ff versus 13...and announce it as a ps3 exclusive...
    square screwed ps3 owners enough this generation....(no exclusive game while the 360 had had at least 3...even though star ocean did eventually come...) also with the slap in face with ff 13, they really need to show this AND make it a ps3 exclusive (even the wii has had its own share of square exclusives...)

    This is probably going to sound very out of place amongst GT5 and KZ3 but I am very interested in how The 3rd Birthday is shaping up. I have been bursting for a new Parasite Eve for so many years and this looks like it'll be the closest I will get to PE3. (please SE, for the love of God give me Parasite Eve 3!!!!)

    Richardthe3rd I beg to differ with you. I have the move already and played a few of the games and they're NOT shovel-ware crap like you suggest. I'm not bad mouthing the Wii but the move controls way better and the games of course look and play better as well. Perhaps you need a stronger prescription on your glasses..

    Throw in Valkyria Chronicles 3, Disgaea 4, The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy Versus 13 and Hideo Kojima's new game and I'll be more than satisfied.

    Gran Turismo 5 and Killzone 3 have no interest for me at TGS, we've already seen loads of each game, it's the new surprises I'm looking forward to.

    Killzone and GT5 obviously are about the only things I want here. I'll get the Move for KZ3, but what I'm REALLY waiting for is an Elder Scrolls on the Move. They can't tease me with that Oblivion looking tech demo from last year's E3 any longer.

    I think Gran Turismo was the perfect opportunity to sell move by using it as a steering wheel, but once again the waggle will be used uselessly in shovel-ware. If i have the choice between a controller and move ( like in Killzone 3) im obviously going to choose controller - because Im used to it, and I dont have to pay another 50$ because I already have 1.

    Gran Turismo on the other hand.... - as a driving sim it wouldve made it that much more immersive. >.

    A pretty impressive starting lineup for Move. Difficult to judge at this point how much of a success it might prove.

    @NeoIostars them not being listed probably just means they won't be on the show in playable form.
    @Tauu They already said that they're showing a short one minute trailer of the game,but in PV.

    Alot of these titles look like shovel-ware crap.

    It's too bad, the 360 Kinect looks like the same low quality. Both Sony and Microsoft see that the motion gimmick is a hit and now they think they can drop low quality shovelware titles also.

    Pretty sad.

    MotorStorm 3 in 3D? now that could be interesting. I do like the MotorStorm series. Hopefully a new installment built from the ground up for playing in 3D instead of one of the existing games with 3D taked on. Since they already have three games MotorStorm, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, MotorStorm Artic Edge, Isn't this really the fourth game in the MotorStorm series?

    @ice_man_1985
    I'm aware of the differences.
    Once again, you won't need 3DTV for 3D.
    Projectors have been doing 3D for a long time already, HDMI v1.3 will be enough to process 3D picture onto any HDTV in 2 years when all the BluRay Devices (Including PS3) will optimize it.

  • benleslie5

    Posted Sep 3, 2010 2:54 am GMT

    Intresting list, will there be any live coverage from Gamespot?

  • Ice_man_1985

    Posted Sep 3, 2010 2:46 am GMT

    @TevoxZi - this is a different thing i didn't talk about the versions, what i mean is av reciever must be 3D ready, and they are now at stores, you can find them, plus what your talking about is another subject, do you know what's the difference? i will tell you what is, you are right, both support 3D, but the 1.3 will only support 1080i 3D, however the 1.4 will support 1080p,

    one other thing if you want to know one or two things, let's say that you went to an electronic store, and you found a 3DTV and it says on the tv, 3D-ready.
    this means it will only support 1080i 3D, same thing before on the hd ready and full hdtv's when they first came up, so there is a 3d ready and a full 3dtv.
