Red Dead Redemption Liars and Cheats Pack dated, detailed

Rockstar Games' next chunk of DLC for lauded Western dropping on Sept. 21 on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network; $10 content also includes Free Roam pack.

In early July, Rockstar announced four new downloadable content packs for the studio's praised Western, Red Dead Redemption. The first of that bunch, the Legends and Killers pack, hit Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network on August 10. The developer is wasting no time getting back in the saddle, today announcing the next batch of content's release date and how gamers will get more than they expected.

Rockstar today announced that the Liars and Cheats pack will mount up on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network on September 21. Further, the content pack will come bundled with the previously announced Free Roam pack, which adds new Free Roam challenges, posse scoring/leaderboards, seven new gang hideouts, and four fresh hunting grounds.

The Liars and Cheats Pack (800 MS points, or $9.99) adds goods for the title's single- and multiplayer components. The content brings new multiplayer horse races with mounted combat, an attack-and-defend multiplayer mode called Stronghold, 15 new multiplayer characters, and multiplayer versions of Liars Dice and poker. The Liars and Cheats Pack also adds the explosive rifle, which can be used in both single- and multiplayer.

Rockstar had originally planned to release the Free Roam pack as a free download, but due to "platform networks' restrictions on numbers of free packs [Rockstar] can give away," the developer said it was forced to bundle it with the Liars and Cheats pack.

Looking ahead, Rockstar plans to release the Undead Nightmare Pack "later this fall." The pack adds an entirely new single-player campaign that follows protagonist John Marston and his attempt to find a cure for an infectious zombie outbreak. Additionally, the Undead Nightmare Pack adds new gameplay mechanics, weapons, zombie animals, mythical creatures, a new location, and fresh multiplayer modes. More information on the zombie pack is promised to be revealed in the weeks ahead.

They need to do a single player pack.

Liars and cheats is worth it. I've always wondered why they didn't have poker and the other games multi player anyhow. And with the free roam add ons (7 new gang hideouts is awesome) it is definetely worth it. I hope they put in the train at some point too! I just hope the poker is on servers b/c I can imagine people griefing you while your playing!

Atleast they tried to make the free roam pack free, so it's the thought that counts. And these other packs sound pretty promising, as long as its anything to expand the disappointingly small and frugal multiplayer free roam.

Oh and zombies, that is something i´d definitly pay for. Sorry but liars and cheats pack is probably not for me though. Hope zombies wont cost way more than that, sounds like a full expansion.

Not normally fond of zombies, but any expansion to this game's spectacular single player is welcome, especially as John Marston.

i hate this multiplayer aspect of such games, look at gta games, nobody is playing multi, there are games meant to be played online, those who want multiplayer dont even bother playing it really, if they did we d be seeing them, anyway, i want single player content...

you know this is all great but they should stop with the dlc's and try to fix some of the freezing problems. i mean some people said that after this game freezing 50+ times on them the poor ps3 wont read any discs anymore. thats why i wont buy this game. i wish rockstar would polish their awesome games a little more before release =/

An undead expansion pack, this is going to ruin the feel of the game.

Wasn't too big on the last pack because I don't play much deathmatch. This is a day one buy though. As is Red Undead Redemption.

One more reason to despise the PSN and Xbox Live, is it not?

    What? (spoilers!)

    Zombie outbreak???

    John Marston????

I was hoping for a single player campaign with Jack Marston. He might be a little more likable if he wasn't just some bullcrap end-game replacement and actually had his own adventure.

you could've, and should've, sold both games on ebay. you would've easily made $50 for RDR and $40 for FF13.
