Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, GoldenEye 007 dated

Nintendo dates upcoming Wii and DS titles as pink puffball's latest lands October 17, Donkey Kong Returns November 17, Bond sneaks out November 16, and Wii Party debuts October 3.

Although Nintendo is remaining very tight lipped about its upcoming portable system, the 3DS, today the Japanese game maker let loose details on its upcoming holiday software release schedule.

Wii Party is among the earliest new release dates announced, arriving in stores October 3. It will be the first new Nintendo-published minigame collection for the Wii since 2007's Mario Party 8 and will feature 70 different minigames across 13 distinct modes.

On October 17, Kirby's Epic Yarn will see the Nintendo mascot return in a new 2D platformer with an arts-and-crafts aesthetic. In the game, Kirby and the rest of his world is represented in yarn, felt, beads, and other common materials to give the game a distinct look. As for gameplay, Kirby will wield a yarn whip that can be used to interact with the environment, tugging at seems to unstitch the background and reveal new paths or secure platforms to one another.

A remake of the Rare-developed seminal Nintendo 64 first-person shooter, GoldenEye 007 will include online multiplayer and 16 game modes when it launches November 16. Although the Pierce Brosnan version of James Bond has been replaced by Daniel Craig for the remake, it does still boast a roster including eight characters from the revered Bond classic, as well as 40 other unnamed virtual soldiers.

Last but not least among the season's Wii and DS launches will be Donkey Kong Country Returns on November 21. Another follow-up to a Rare-developed title, Donkey Kong Country Returns is being developed by Retro Studios, the outfit behind the Metroid Prime series. The 2D platformer sees Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong return to action with many of the DKC series' familiar trappings, from mine cart racing to being shot out of barrels.

Despite that these are the American release dates, I can proudly say that I'm so effing hyped about Kirby's Epic Yarn and GoldenEye. I would also gladly buy Donkey Kong Country, Metroid: Other M and Wii Party (after reading GameSpot's review). After the awesomeness of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Monster Hunter Tri and Tatsunoko vs Capcom this year, Nintendo's year can't go wrong. It's the perfect year for them. Here's to hoping that Kirby will crush Black Ops and Reach under a giant yarn-made boot. *drinks*

Conduit 2, Goldeneye, Donkey Kong Country, Cod Black Ops, Zelda, Mario Sports Mix, New Super Mario Bros, NBA Jam, Metroid - Damn check out all these beast games coming out for Wii. Atleast it's something new and refreshing unlike ps3 and xbox who give you the same crap (halo, killzone, etc)
I've got $250 on me and it looks like Nintendo might just get all my $$ lol.

Goldeneye is coming out on my birthday...
My one wish this year is for it to not suck.

Truly, I don't care about this lineup. If I don't see the words "Zelda" or "3DS", then I have no desire to buy. Kirby's Epic Yarn and Metroid: Other M sound like nice eventual purchases, but nothing I'm going to jump on over to Walmart for at midnight. Give the people what they want, Ninty.

I've played my Wii this year so much. It won't change this fall. Awesome line-up Nintendo. I want 6 games from that list. Can't believe Donkey Kong Country is returning or Kirby. When their both in my system, I will believe it. And I've heard nothing but good things about Wii Party and it's still number 1 in Japan this week. Metroid coming soon!!

LOL. I agree. It's been years since I've played a new Donkey Kong and Virtual Console introduced me to Kirby so I'm happy about these.

So this is why Nintendo's been hiding in the shadows for the last year. Metroid other M, Legend of zelda Skyward sword, Kirby epic yarn, Mario sports mix, Donkey Kong Country Return, Goldeneye Wii.....oohhhhhhhh bless you Nintendo!

  • derekis007

    Posted Aug 18, 2010 7:07 am GMT

I'll definitly look into Goldeneye Wii and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Mario Sports Mix actually looks kinda cool. It has basketball and doogeball which looks pretty intresting. I'm still hoping for Mario Paint Ball or Mario's Wild West Shoot Out, or ANYTHING with Mario holding a gun

Looks like sales will be divided between Donkey Kong and Bond in that week in November. Should have spread out the lineup more though; by March, everything that was interesting would have come out and we'll expect another Wii-game drought until E3.

THe only problem I have with DKCR is that it might be too casual. Metroid Prime 3 corruption was too balanced between casuals and hardcore and look what happened. A good game that good a review score of 8.5 from GS. It really deserved it.
    /
The previous DKC games had average difficulty and my fear is that it might be too easy. Anyone remember Zelda: TP or Super Mario Galaxy, extremely easier than usual. Motion control make games easier.
