Clint Hocking lands at LucasArts

Star Wars studio confirms former Ubisoft Montreal creative director has joined its staff to work on an unannounced project.

Earlier this summer, word surfaced that Ubisoft Montreal creative director Clint Hocking had left the employ of the French publisher. Within the development community, speculation ran rife about where one of the primary architects of Far Cry 2 and the Splinter Cell series would wind up.

Today, that question was answered. Following Twitter posts by a Ubisoft community developer, LucasArts has confirmed to GameSpot that Hocking is now in its employ. "We are pleased to announce that Clint Hocking has joined LucasArts as creative director on an unannounced project," a LucasArts rep said.

What exactly that unannounced project is remains a mystery. One possibility is the unnamed Star Wars game Microsoft showed off at the Electronic Entertainment Expo to promote its Kinect motion-sensing system. The San Francisco-based game arm of the LucasArts empire is also currently hard at work on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, the sequel to the septuple-platinum 2008 action game that launches October 26. The publisher is also collaborating with BioWare on the massively multiplayer online-role playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic, due out early next year.

    I'm hopingKyle will get another adventure, those star wars games (Dark forces 1 &2, jedi knight 2) were the greatest for me

    they should make battlefront 3 and have it follow the dimise of the 501st, cos the games that go on to a seperate to the main story do realy well.

    Sounds like a great addition. Now hopefully the unnamed game is KOTOR 3. I've been waiting a while for that news. Fingers crossed.

    FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY GIVE ME KOTOR 3.
    I will not stop preaching this until that game is released. When I get a copy of kotor 3 in my hand then and only then will I be silenced.

    If nothing else, then do Republic Commando 2. This was a great game, probably one of the best FPS' ever campaign-wise, but it was too short and the multiplayer sucked.

    I would absolutely love a new Battlefront, but whatever happened to their xbox360/PS3 Indiana Jones game? That looked really awesome, but I have heard nothing of it for the past couple of years.

    Only 2 gaming arcs should be revisited: Republic Commando 2 and Battlefront 3. Yea, im still waiting for that, after that amazing 6 minute clip i saw.

    Would be awesome to see JK4 or Republic Commando 2. Nevertheless may be it is time for something new. For example something similar to Splinter Cell - "Spy of the Empire"!

    I would love to see him on a new chapter in the Dark Forces series done with the depth of detail and scale of Far Cry 2. But hopefully with a stronger narative and less sandboxy-ness. I hope they don't stick himon some move/kinect piece of garbage, his strengths lie elsewhere.

    Sweet. I can't get enough of Star Wars games. I guess I was one of the few that enjoyed Force Unleashed. While I want Battlefront 3 just as much as the next person, I'll enjoy Force Unleashed 2 in the meantime. I'd also like to see Lucasarts return to the Jedi Knight series.

    nice to see i'm not the only person dreaming of a batttlefront 3!

    seriously though force unleashed 2, WHY??

    it was a bad game and the main character died, now your bringing him back just to try and ruin the IP and replace luke some more? its a dead horse stop beating it. could be making so much better starwars games instead of this and some kiddy wii game.

    what I'm pointing out is that no way would I join lucasarts. should have stayed with the frenchies,

    new battlefront please! the entire reason i bought a psp was for battlefront i still play all 3 of them on my exclusive white darth vader psp
    but one for ps3/360 would be better

    Dear LucasArts:

    It has been far too long for this to go unnoticed, the world needs Battlefront 3. . .and Republic Commando 2 (what the @%$# happened to Sev? COME ON I NEED TO KNOW!!). . .and KOTOR III. . .please work hard at getting these done because having one Star Wars franchise for the next-gen consoles is unacceptable.

    Battlefront series are way better in my opinion then force unleashed, regardless of sales, but both cant touch the jedi knight series, it's time, make a new one.....I'll be waiting to once again as a solo jedi, go into clan servers, and beat the hell out of all of em at once, lol miss those days, or never getting out of challenge mode, going 127-0 all day.....great times

    star wars Battlefront 2 placed sixth in overall sales for 2005. It was listed as the second most-played Xbox title in 2007, and would place third in 2008. In 2009 Star Wars: Battlefront 2 would reclaim second place once more.
    but the only reason it broke reacords is cos 4 years there has been no decent star wars game for years except for LEGO pls to be honest it is ok but not as good, with todays graphics and most eliments from batfron2 and space to land from elite squad (and blow up spaceship cos its epic) you have a winner.

    I miss Lucas Arts early games. They had some terrific properties not based on any of Lucas' movies and even a proper re-make would be pretty cool.

    These are the games I wish LucasArts would develop/publish: Jedi Knight 3, Tie Fighter 2, Battlefront 3, Republic Commando 2, Empire at War 2 and a proper KOTOR sequel, not one by Obsidian.
