Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood multiplayer beta slicing PS3 Sept. 13

Ubisoft partners with GameStop for preorder exclusive prerelease sampler limited to Sony's console.

Ezio is headed to Rome for his next stealth action adventure, but gamers won't have to travel as far to try out Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Ubisoft and GameStop today announced that those who preorder the game for PlayStation 3 at the retailer will earn access to an assassination-themed multiplayer beta.

Ubisoft says that the beta--which hits September 13--will give gamers a first look and feel for the game's new multiplayer component. It will also act as a final "stress test" on Ubisoft's servers.

Additionally, the publisher says there are only a "limited number of beta slots" available and tokens will be handed out on a first-come first-served basis. Further, those who have already preordered Brotherhood can bring their receipts to GameStop beginning August 9 to exchange for a beta token.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is due out November 16 in North America and is the first title in the stealth-killing series to include a multiplayer component. For more on the new element, check out Brotherhood's Comic-Con 2010 multiplayer movie (embedded below).

    @SunOfAtom @ crossaxe I think he is trying to say he likes the story and atmosphere of the series, like I like the Halo story and kinda the single player, but I hate the multiplayer and don't have fun playing. Same thing. If I am wrong then just leave it at that, everyone else is done.

    @Emraldo killzone 3 will be sony's answer to halo reach and yes i think it will be better but the a beta cant be compared to a full game

    @SunOfAtom maybe you misunderstood i meant that you can't say you love a series if you havnt played the series. If you love ac1 you love that game, if you love both games you love the series. You have to love more than one game of a series to love a series. and sorry to say but i don't like your chances of there being another altair game especially as the bloodline's spinoff psp game was critically bashed.

    I'm somewhat dissapointed to not see this on 360. Not out of complaining, but to see how the game plays on both systems. I'm still going to get this game probably, but it would really be nice to know what I'm getting previous to getting it.

    i dont understand why this online wasnt in AC2 O_O this is basically DLC for 60 bucks....like Crackdown 2 was to Crackdown 1...ill wait until everyone else plays it first...and MAYBE put the cash down for it for Christmas..

    @SunOfAtom Fair enough that you dont like multiplayer I myself didnt get into online til i got my ps3 last year but that doesnt mean the single player won't be great. It looks like brotherhood could be an awesome package. PS: what do you mean by the series you love. you cant love a series if you won't even play the second game

    That's right, it isn't Assassin's Creed 3. Ubisoft announced way back that, the actual franchise (namely 1,2 & 3)would be a triology. Soo...

    My guess is that they are trying out the Multiplayer ideas to see if they add it into Assassin's Creed 3, which, if remember correctly, will be released 2012, the in-game year in which Desmond's story comes to a close (and starts too... right? Can't remember, but it's on Vidic's Laptop from AC1).

    Anyway, here's hoping that you get to *** SPOILER ALERT *** SPOILER ALERT *** play as Adam or Eve on Eden, in the time of "The ones that came before".

    Multiplayer in AC just doesn't seem right. I hate to say it, but this just sounds like a quick cash-in from Ubisoft.

    I don't see a #3 next to the title, so I'm guessing this "sequel" will actually be more of a side-story. Anyways, I guess the PS3 is really getting all the goodies this year.

    Yes, I have heard how good the demos are, but I see AC: Brotherhood as a dirty, rushed scam of a cash-in. I still don't believe the series should have departed from Altair's point-of-view and I refuse to pick up ACII to see the series I love ruined. I'm also not fond of multiplayer games - I'm a single player guy.

    I don't like the fact that they are making this a PS only thing... I have a PS3 and prefer it over my 360 for certain games. But to be truthful both systems need to test out their versions of the game to help make it better. I am still sort of skeptical about this multiplayer idea, because it looks like a load of One Strike Kills. Don't have a problem with those, but that will get annoying real soon.

    Yeah fair enough I guess, still don't like it when PS3 players feel attacked by Xbox fanboys and wish ALL Xbox players to suffer some kind of inferiority.

    I'll have to see how things turn out, as I said previously I'll probably just end up buying this second hand on PC a couple of months after it comes out for PC..

    What the hell Ubisoft!? PS3 only and USA only? 2 conditions that restrict access for a lot of people including myself.

    I didn't care for this game to begin with, I'll leave it and get it when it later comes out cheap for PC (second hand). If you gave me a chance at the beta I may have considered buying new on Xbox as I'm buying very few games this year, as of now there is no chance.

    AC is a good series, but the gameplay gets boring. I've beat both 1,2, but i had a hard time staying into them. Not too interested in this, but i know i will be trying out the beta.

    The sequel was all kinds of awesome compared to the first game, which was OK with a lot of "grinding" moments. This could turn out to be an even better 3rd game.

    the thing i always wanted with ac was multiplayer.
    what's better than an assassin roaming the streets? a bunch of assassins roaming the street!

    I have absolutely no idea how they're going to pull off multiplayer seriously. This is what we've created for ourselves - multiplayer occasionally ranks higher than the single-player itself, and multiplayer modes which plainly don't/won't work effectively are attached on absent-mindedly.
