Splinter Cell: Conviction, Assassin's Creed II Mac-bound

Earnings report reveals both stealth action games are coming sometime during Ubisoft's second quarter (July-September) to Apple computers.

Apple's two most current products, the iPhone 4 and the iPad, have sold upward of 1.7 and 3 million units, respectively. But game publisher Ubisoft is eyeing the technology maker's other product line: the Mac, for its next wave of games.

Buried within the French publisher's first quarter earnings report--which was essentially the same one it issued 10 days ago--were mentions of Ubisoft's successful stealth action franchises most recent entries, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Assassin's Creed II, hitting the Mac later this year.

Last month, Ubisoft answered community questions and expressed how the publisher has no intention to bring Splinter Cell Conviction to any system outside of the PC.

"Splinter Cell: conviction is a true Microsoft exclusive title and there are no plans to have Splinter Cell: Conviction on other platforms," read the official forum post.

Both titles are pegged to be released during Ubisoft's second quarter, which ends September 30. GameSpot's reviews offer a full rundown on the console versions of Assassin's Creed II and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Its well known among PC gamers that both these games were very badly ported to PC, giving sub par performance with good cards such as a 5850 and quad core cpu. AC2 does not look much better than AC1 which utilizes gpu power much better. SCC used the unreal engine which runs exceptionally well in most cases, but Ubisoft managed to screw that up as well. wHY don't Ubisoft fix these games for PC users first before they get ahead of themselves? If these games are ported better to MAC then it will be a complete betrayal by Ubisoft to PC gamers.

either ubisoft are stupid for not cashing in on a ps3 version or their being paid not to.
either way, its not a must have game so im not bothered.

Haha, well I think it's funny that they're going back on their word with saying Conviction is Microsoft exclusive. Doesn't matter to me anyway, because I already have that game. Cool stuff.

I think Double Agent bombed catastrophically on PS3 is the reason.

People say that the PC doesn't sell enough copies to warrant the release of such games, and now they are putting it on Mac?!?!

No, I played and beat the game on my bro's 360. Their is little to no stealth in the game, or at least comparing it to previous Splinter Cell games. Fun game though.

Doesn't matter for me. I use OnLive, so I already have AC2 on my mac.

    @aaronfhff123

I have a 360 and PS3 as well. Here is why I use my 360 more: Mass Effect 1/2, Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Star Ocean (was an exclusive until international), Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, also Gears 1/2, Beautiful Katamari, Banjo N&B, Deadly Premonition... ALL EXCLUSIVE to the system. I also own Fable 2/Dead Rising/Crackdown but those aren't amazing. I also plan on getting Magna Carta 2 soon.

My PS3 is for Disgaea, Demon's souls, Valkyria Chronicles, Heavy Rain, LBP, FFXIII and Uncharted. I don't have much of a collection on my PS3 yet, but I plan to get Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, MAG, ModNation Racers and MGS4.

I would say that my list of great 360 exclusives outnumbers the list of PS3 exclusives, even if they are third party. I like my PS3 more for the power of it, and it's fun for watching blurays, but it doesn't have the library that the 360 has. It's like the XBOX from last-gen.

Calling it a true Microsoft exclussive is quite OK. I really don't care... but actually expecting the IP to never get to the PS3 is a bit far fetched considering the first Splinter Cell, which was an XB exclussive, made it to the PS2 eventually selling millions of copies. Even so that there were notorious followers like Pandora, etc... I will get it for the 360 when it gets cheaper, but regardless only the future will demonstrate if it gets or not to the PS3... just like "Episodes of Liberty City" did.

Well, it's good Macs are getting some of the new games now, but I will stick to my Windows/PC for gaming, no offense.

Your gonna need a $3,000 Mac to play Splinter Cell, and that's not even maxed. It's outrageous you can build a PC for under $2,000 that will still out preform a Mac. Apple and their brain washing making people think they need what they sell.

If only Macs were cheaper, and had more third party software than the PC...I might consider...

i did not find Conviction to be that good anyways, still have yet to get around to finishing it.
AC2 on the other hand was great, one of the best games from last year

That's Great...but for the 2500$ price tag of an I-Mac they just aren't worth getting for a good gaming rig. You're way better off just building a 1200$ dollar PC.

I think we will see higher-end games on Mac when Mac can offer a gaming computer that cost 1100 dollars as opposed to 2500 dollars

Hey gamespot, why dont you provide links to the PC versions... MAC users DONT TOUCH THESE TITLES. Splinter Cell runs horribly 15-30 fps, when i can run 60fps in every other game(BC2, L4D2, Starcraft2, COD, RE5 and any Unreal Engine game etc etc...) on a GTX260
